texas high school football

  • Question:-Is it legal to block below the knees in Texas High School football?
I dont want to hear that it is in Virginia and might be in Texas. I want someone that knows Texas High School rules to tell me if blocks below the knees are legal.
I dont play Texas football im watching a game right now and im seeing blocks below the knees left and right, and wondering if its legal or just being overlooked by the refs.

Answer:-they should be blocking like that cause they could break some ones legs , but since texas loves it f-ball ,i bet they are over looking that
  • Question:-Any official (or not) site where I can get results for Texas high school football for 2006 ?
I'm planning a trip down there next fall and I am trying to package a great friday night high school game, a saturday college and the Cowboys on sunday... Who's on top of high scool football these days ?

Answer:-Maxpreps is a good resource, schedules and scores of most of the high school teams in the country.
  • Question:-Can a high school sophomore play down on a freshman football team in Texas high school football?
I know of some kids who are sophomores, yet they play on the freshman football team.I thought a player could play up but not down.

Answer:-Some schools will let you play down if it is your first time playing football. Some will let you play down if your age is the same. Like someone who skipped a grade going up.
  • Question:-What is the difference between 5a division 1 and 2 in texas high school football?
Texas only goes up to 5a, how do you get 2 champs from same class? On several team sites i only saw 5a and a district, but no division. did they stop it this year, because in 2010 there was a 5a division 1 and 2 champ. but the teams dont list a division this year. thanks for the answers.

Answer:-Texas does high school football in a quirky way when it comes to the playoffs. Classes 4A and 5A don't have Division 1 and Division 2 alignments until the playoff brackets are determined.

For 5A, the top 4 teams in each district qualify for the playoffs. Of those 4, the 2 schools with the largest student enrollment are placed into the 5A Division 1 bracket and the 2 schools with the lowest student enrollments are placed into the 5A Division 2 bracket.

For 4A, the top 3 teams in each district qualify for the playoffs with the school with the highest enrollment going into 4A Division 1 bracket and the other 2 going into the 4A Division 2 bracket.

Having the best record doesn't matter. Depending on enrollment, the district winner can end up in Division 2 if they have a lower enrollment than the other schools.

Yes, it's screwy. For one, 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs is way too many. In some districts, teams with 3 or 4 wins can get a playoff spot. And, a school can be put into the Division 1 bracket one year, and the next put into division 2, depending on which other schools in their district qualify for the playoffs.

i didn't follow it all that close but I remember the debate when the Texas UIL switched to the 2 division bracket alignments for the playoffs. Supposedly, it was done this way to avoid adding a 6A classification for the larger schools.

Texas certainly has enough high enrollment schools to justify a 6A class. It might work okay in the larger population centers with a lot of schools but it would be a problem for north and west Texas schools. For example, a proposed district included an El Paso school, an Amarillo school, a Lubbock school, an Odessa school, and 2 Dallas schools.

It was determined that the cost of travel would be way to high to put districts like that together. The cost could probably be justified for district football games, but all the other sports would have to travel the same distances... basketball, volleyball, softball, etc, etc, etc.

So, I can understand why they chose not to add a 6A classification but going to the 2 division playoff system seems like a strange alternative.

The like below has links to the 2010 playoff brackets and to the UIL home page for more information about the playoff formats.

  • Question:-Andrew Luck is only good cause he Played Texas High School Football?

  • Question:-Where would I find a listing of all Texas high school football coaches?
Looking for an old friend but have lost touch but know he would still be coaching.

    Answer:-Maybe here! http://thsca.com/
  • Question:-Why are there two 5A divisions in Texas High School Football?
Last year Allen won the 5A Division I title and Katy won the 5A Division II title. Why are there two divisions, and why don't they play each other at the end to determine an undisputed State Champion?

Answer:-There are two divisions because there are so many schools that meet the conditions to be classified as class 5A. The larger class 5A schools are division I and the smaller 5A schools are division II. They don't play each other because they would have to wait another week plus one or both teams would have to make extra travel arrangements that are not accounted for in the schools' budgets. Also the UIL (University Interscholastic League) only has a certain number of weeks set aside for the football season. Adding that extra game would exceed that number of weeks. Plus, all classifications (and divisions if applicable) are required to play the same number of games (regular season and playoff) and because all classifications are not separated into divisions there would be an unequal number of games in the higher classifications.

You are correct about California, RBackBalla13.
  • Question:-Texas high school football, why is it so popular yet the players so average?
Texas high school football, why is it so popular yet the players so average?
I went to my first Texas high school football game this weekend and didnt think they were that good. the team i was on and the teams we played in New Mexico were just as fast, strong, and agressive. EVERYBODY in town went to the game but I expected the players performance to truly surpass NM 1A football but really fell short. They seem pretty even. Why is the hype and enthusiasm there for texas football when they are just as good as football teams everwherein the nation?
There are also alot of players. in ratio to state size, Every other state has had just as many.

Read my question before blurting out answers.

Answer:-check how many pro players come from Texas. The only states that even compete are california and florida, with a respectable showing from ohio, michigan and pennsylvania.

florida marlins

  • Question:-florida marlins?
hey my name is beau. and i was wondering how can you download florida marlins high light videos? into windows movie maker. like for ex. cabrera's 3 run homer.

Answer:-go to youtube and take the embed and if that doesnt work you could add the page to your favorites and quickly look at the highlights whenever you want. I put a link below to start your collection
  • Question:-What are the chances that the Florida Marlins make the playoffs in your opinion?
The Marlins are .500 and currently third in the NL East and 6th in the wild card race. Basically our only chance of the playoffs is miraculously winning the NL east.

So what chances do you give my Florida Marlins in making the playoffs?

Answer:-slim, but not impossible. i agree that they'll have to win the division. i think the marlins can be compared to the rockies from a couple yrs back. young, talented, but untested. i think josh johnson is the second best pitcher in the nl behind jiminez. and of course hanley, cantu, and gaby sanchez are great too. i think if anibal sanchez and chris volstad can both start throwing like they are capable of, and a offensive player (coghlan/maybin) heats up then look out nl. they would be tough to beat in the playoffs with johnson and a hot volstad and sanchez.
  • Question:-Florida Marlins?
Do you think the Marlins make the playoffs this year? What will their record be (w,l)???

Answer:-The biggest concern is starting pitching.

Josh Johnson is coming off the DL soon, Anibal Sanchez (Threw a no-hitter rookie year), and Sergio Mitre are also coming back by the end of the year, probably around the All-Star break.

Andrew Miller has had some great outtings, and others that were struggling. If Andrew throws like he can in all of his starts then he will without a doubt be a great pitcher.

Scott Olsen has the talent to pitch great, he just needs to stay calm and work quick out on the mound.

Ricky Nolasco, who pitched yesterday and went 8.2/3 innings striking out 12, allowing only 2 runs against a red-hot Devil Rays team, is becoming the ACE. That is a bit scary, but if he keeps doing what he is doing then how can you argue with it?

The bullpen is in a bit of a slump right now, but as we saw early in the year they were absolutely dominate. They also have some injuries out of the pen.

    The line-up is solid.

Hanley obviously is a great player, needs some defensive work, but all in all, an All Star SS.

Uggla went on a tear in May, Jacobs has serious pop, Jorge Cantu has played outstanding as of late, Cody Ross is clutch with homers. With Willingham injured, Gonzo has stepped up and played consistently, which is pretty impressive since he is 40.

Once the Hammer (Willingham) comes back into the line-up, and they get the starting pitching back.... well... the doubters will still say it cant be done.. but i'm pretty confident it will be done.

I AM a Marlins fan, but honestly didnt think they had a very good shot the past few years... this year feels different, and I think that it will happen.

    Idk about the record though.
  • Question:-How much cash could the Florida Marlins get for giving Miguel Cabrera and Hanley Ramirez to another team?
The reason I am asking this is because the Marlins could definitely use some money to fund the financing gap for a stadium in South Florida. As much as I admire these guys, there is no way the Marlins could sign them long term anyways, so if we could get a stadium deal done as a result of this trade, I think it would be worth it.

Cabrera and Ramirez, who are undoubtedly two of the best players in the world, should get a pretty high price. If this could be done, what do you think these guys would fetch, given their current contract status? And I'm not talking about trading for another player and some cash--I'm talking just a cash deal only.

Or can this even be done? I don't remember seeing any deals like this recently.

Answer:-They would get a couple million, but they'd also get amzing young players if they made that trade.
  • Question:-What do you guys think about the florida marlins for the 2011 season?
Do you guys think that the florida marlins will be a playoff contending team for the 2011/2012 season? I think what they needed most was relievers. But let me see what you guys think.

Answer:-they'll have loads of young talent, but i don't see them competing with the braves and phillies
  • Question:-Who designed the Florida Marlins Baseball Team Logo?
Who is the person responsible for the Florida Marlins Logo? The logo in question is the one with an "F" accompanied by a Marlin fish.

    Answer:-Billy the Marlin.
  • Question:-Why should the Florida Marlins even be in Major League Baseball when they dont spend money to improve themselv?
Why should the Florida Marlins even be in Major League Baseball, they have an embarrassing payroll, nobody good on their team, the fans are indifferent about the product down there, and Both Florida teams need "New Stadiums>

Answer:-They look better than the Mets!!

That's why their going to sweep the Mets out of a playoff spot for the 2nd Straight year!
  • Question:-What do I do with my Florida Marlins paraphernalia when they become the Miami Marlins?
When the Florida Marlins move to their new stadium in 2012 their name will change to the Miami Marlins.

Answer:-Keep it, frame it, build a shrine to it. I'm keeping all of mine and am definitely still wearing the clothes that I have. The posters, plaques, and anything else you might have will surely be worth something one day. Either of sentimental value or perhaps even monetary value.
  • Question:-Why does Florida Marlins had the largest attendance in the playoff and World Series?
Florida Marlins are the lowest payroll team as have the smallest attendance during the regular seasons as average more than 20,000. Florida had more than 67,000 people attend a game in the playoff and World Series in 1997 and 2003.

Dolphin Stadium has 75,000 seats for football but Marlins has more than 67,000 people to attended the playoff and World Series.

Answer:-They have the largest stadium capacity of any other MLB team's ballpark...so obviously they would have the highest attendence in the WS.
  • Question:-Where can I find an authentic Florida Marlins jersey in Miami?

detroit tigers

  • Question:-detroit tigers?
this is kinda 2 questions in one. what do you think the final standings will be in the al central and do you think the tigers have a chance to make the playoffs and eventually the world series.

    here's mine:
    Team: Games Back:
    Detroit 0
    Chicago 3
    Minnesota 7
    Cleveland 12
    Kansas City 13

    Answer:-Chicago --
    Detroit 4
    Minnesota 6
    Kansas City 11
    Cleveland 15

I love my Tigers, but in all reality, I don't think the Tigers will make the playoffs unless some fate intervenes (spend some money or make a trade for a quality starting pitcher). For one, the starting pitching is really thin now with Bonderman out for the season. Willis is a bust. That leaves only four strong pitchers. But what if one of the other starters get hurt, or opposing hitters figure out Galarraga and start hitting off him. Another quality starter would solidify the Tigers rotation. They don't really have anyone in the minors they can bring up right now that can be a quality starter. Bonine isn't ready.

As for the lineup. I think they're fine, and they have plenty of quality, good hitters in that lineup and on the bench to carry them through. The bullpen is shaky, but hopefully Zumaya and Rodney find their groove and start pitching well again like they did in 2006.
  • Question:-Detroit Tigers!!!!???
This will be dark times for tigers fans if they lose the lead in the wild card and division for good. I mean if there is one team that does not deserve to lose it is the tigers because they went from setting the record for most losses in a single season (119) to becoming AL champs. All you yankees fans dont deserve to whine if you dont make the playoffs I mean ur like the Detroit Red Wings in baseball form. (the red wings are an NHL team who has made the playoffs for 14 consecutive years and winning 3 championships along the way). All I'm trying to say is that if there is one team that desrves to win its the Tigers. (No disrespect to cubs fans). but 119 losses is not something to be proud of.

Answer:-The season is a series of ups and downs and the stronger teams will be there at the end, and I believe the Tigers will be in the playoffs. With almost one third of the season left to play there is plenty of time for the Tigers to get rolling again, and they are too good not to.
  • Question:-Detroit tigers?
Geez for my fantasy team i cant decide to start matt joyce or marcus thames because i dont know who the tigers will start. Whenever i start Joyce Thames starts vice versa. Anyone know when leyland will start thames or joyce like for sure, give me proof that your right or something. thanks.

Answer:-You can see who is starting about a half hour before the game starts and adjust your lineup accordingly.

    Good luck.
  • Question:-How do I order Detroit Tigers Baseball tickets without actually buying them for a specific date?
I am looking for a way to buy Detroit Tigers tickets for a gift... but the only problem is that I want them to be able to choose the date that they go. Is there a way I can do this?

Answer:-You would have to purchase for a specific game. Maybe a gift card for the amount of the price of tickets so they could use it to buy the tix for a game they can attend.
  • Question:-How long is max scherzers contract with the detroit tigers?
How long is max scherzers contract with the detroit tigers? Is there a site where they tell you how long the detroit tigers players have left till there a free agent?

    Answer:-Max Scherzers has two years

    www.majorleaguebaseball.com

    www.detroittigers.com

    www.google.com
  • Question:-Who is as disappointed with the Detroit Tigers last night pitching performance as I am?
I am trying hard not to question Leyland's decision to pull Rogers and put in Zumaya, but come on. Rogers was pitching fine, only 100 pitches. Does this not seem like the Tigers of old, or even the Detroit Red Wings, that when we get a lead we blow it late in the game? I don't see how we can catch the Yankees before the end of the year for that wildcard spot, but I just wanted to hear from all the other disappointed Tigers fans who see this year after year.

Answer:-if the Tribe can clinch the playoff spot early you better believe I will root for the Yankees to lose, and the Tigers to win, I would love to see Detroit in that wildcard spot.
  • Question:-What would the value be of a 1968 World Series Detroit Tigers team autographed baseball?
My parents have a 1968 Detroit Tigers team signed ball. That was also the year they were world series champions. What would the value of that ball be?

Answer:-according to prices of other world series signed balls between 1935 to 2006 the price of the ball should range from $500 to $6000
  • Question:-I want to have my wedding reception at Detroit Tigers game but who pays for guest ticket to baseball game?
We dont want a traditional wedding. We want our reception at a Detroit Tigers game. So we want to invite our guest, since we do not want any gifts should we ask the guest to buy their own ticket??? The party package will come with food vouchers that we will divide up among the guests. I have tried to google proper etiquette for this and I find nothing.

Answer:-The cost of the wedding reception, unique or otherwise, falls on the bride and groom. You are obligated to pay for the tickets as well as the refreshments. Best wishes!
  • Question:-What will the score be tonight and tomorrow, Cleveland Indians against the Detroit tigers?
What will the score be tonight and tomorrow for the Cleveland Indians, against the Detroit Tigers?
    Closet score gets best answer.
Make sure you do it for BOTH nights. If you only do it for one night it won't count.
I am now done accepting answers. Thanks for everyone who answered! We will all find out who gets the best answer on the 15th. By the way, I'll know if you change you're answer!! :)

    Answer:-detroit 8 clev 4
    det 6 clev 2
  • Question:-What do you think of the Detroit Tigers playing on Good Friday Afternoon?
The Detroit Tigers have scheduled thier home opener on Good Friday afternoon. Three of the most holy hours of the year for the Christian faith. I think it is wrong. They should reschedule for late afternoon or evening.
I have also asked this question in Religion and spituality
Detroit is the only team th schedule a game that afternoon. While other religions are represented. There are more Christians in this country and in baseball than any other

Answer:-There was a time when MLB didn't ever play on Good Friday, and there was also a time (like before 1980) that they didn't play any night games in the colder cities until after May 1st.

This is just another of the many ways that money is ruining the game.
