  • Question:-How did J.R. Martinez do on DWTS?
I don't have cable, etc., and I love J.R.'s dancing and his spirit. Tonight (week 4), how did he do w/Karina? Did they get another high score?

Answer:-He did good. It's "Movie Theme Week" and he and Karina did a foxtrot to The Pink Panther.
Bruno and Len loved it but Carrie Ann said there was some things she didn't like. He got a 26 over all and is in 2nd place behind Rikki Lake, she got 29.
  • Question:-What happen to J.R Martinez face? How did it happen?
Like what happen why was he in a coma how did it happen?

Answer:-He is actually hispanic. He enrolled in the army, and was drafted to Iraq. He drove some sort of bus, which hit a land mine and set in fire. He escaped, but the obvious implications occured
  • Question:-Who loves J.R. Martinez as much as I do.?
I think J.R. is one of the most beautiful human beings ever. His personality makes him handsome and sexy. Will you be voting for him on Dancing With the Stars?

Answer:-I love his personality and he is a great dancer..of the guys he is the best without a doubt and he told this wonderful and emotional story about this man who is a soldier and this letter to his wife...and payed tribute to all the soldiers who didn't make it home.
It was the most touching story..it's also totallly normal that there was a point in his life when he saw he was still such a young handsome man and suddenly had such severe burns on face and body that depression set in and for a while he did not want to live..it takes a real man to admit this and it takes a hero to then change his mind and say'' whatever happened even if I am scarred I want to make the best of my life and I want to inspire others...He is a guy who has my respect and who is a wonderful person...it doesn't matter about his scars, because his beauty comes from the inside..he has such a wonderful personality that one forgets the scars and the burn marks and only sees that he is a great person and apart from that a great inspiration and a great dancer who learns quickly...x

Answer:-Spiritually speaking I cannot imagine that there is anything in this world that I could care less about.
  • Question:-Who do you want to go home on this weeks dancing with the stars?
    Rob Kardashian
    Nancy Grace
    Hope Solo
    J.R. Martinez

  • Question:-Starting A Charity For My School?
Im starting a charity campaign for my school called the dollar campaign. What we do is try to bet $1 from every kid in the school and then move on to local business's and try to get them to participate. All of the money is then donated to wounded soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan (Like J.R Martinez)

How much work is involved in getting this up and running?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Who is the all-time best black baseball pitcher? I'm thinking Gibson...Pedro Martinez is also very good but
his name sounds Hispanic...I shudder to think how good J. R. Richard might have been if he hadn't had the stroke.

Answer:-We can't count Satchell Paige, since he pitched in the Negro Leagues and rarely had to face white hitters, so we really have no criteria by which to base any analysis of him.

Of the ones we can analyze, I've been watching baseball since 1966, so I've seen quite a few.

Without a doubt, Bob Gibson was the best. He was intimidating on the mound. He was the one guy that NOBODY wanted to face.

Ferguson Jenkins was great (He's from Canada). He is underrated due to winning most of his games for the Cubs. He and Gibson were workhorses when the word workhorse meant something.

Dave Stewart was excellent, once he got his career together. You can thank Dave Duncan for that.

I never saw him but, Don Newcombe is often mentioned in this kind of discussion. However, he only had 2 20-win seasons and won just 146 games in a 10-year career. I really think that he ranks well below Gibson and Jenkins. However, some of his early season were spent in the Negro Leagues so, therefore, we have no base for comparison.

We'll never know how great J.R. Richard would have been. He was excellent for the time he was well. He could have been another Nolan Ryan in the K category. He had problems with walks early in his career, but was getting better before his stroke.

Jim "Mudcat" Grant was another good one in the 60s and 70s. He also set the tone for Dennis Eckersley, as he became a reliever for the As, Cards & Pirates after his starting days were done.

Earl Wilson was good for the Red Sox & the Tigers in the 60s. He was also a good-hitting pitcher who nailed 35 HR in his career.

A pretty good pitcher for the 60s Pirates was Bob Veale. He was a left hander who got a lot of Ks. He won 16= several years in a row. His major drawback was a high rate of BBs. Had he been with a better team, say the Cards, he might have been a multiple 20 game winner.

Al Downing was a good pitcher for the NYY, who later won 20 for the Dodgers, and is most famous for giving up Hank Aaron's record breaking #715.

On the whole, I would rate them as follows:

    1) Bob Gibson
    2) Ferguson Jenkins
    3) J.R. Richard (based on what he showed in his limited career)
    4) Don Newcombe
    5) Jim "Mudcat" Grant
    6) Bob Veale
    7) Earl Wilson
    8) Vida Blue
    9) Al Downing
    10) Dave Stewart
    11) Dwight Gooden

I wouldn't count Pedro, even if he was not Hispanic. Pedro would not be able to do what those listed above did. He has never been much more than a 6 inning pitcher. Great for the first 100 pitches, trashed after that. In the heyday of the men above, Pedro would be a 4th starter or long reliever.

verlander

  • Question:-Should the Yankees start Burnett in game 3 against Verlander?
The Yankees right now have to face Verlander tomorrow and pitch AJ in game 4. That's two likely losing scenarios. The way I see it, if they start Burnett in game 3, these two bad scenarios happen in the same game, and you can't lose the same game twice. Thoughts?
Yeah exactly. Lose the battle to win the war. Matt gets it.

Answer:-I was just thinking that earlier in the day.
  • Question:-Is it fair to say that Justin Verlander is the Tigers equivalent to the Colts Peyton Manning?
The Colts aren't a playoff team without Peyton Manning and the Tigers wouldn't be one without Justin Verlander.

Answer:-no. manning plays every game - when healthy. verlander pitches in only every 5th game. no comparison
  • Question:-Would you rather have Justin Verlander or Josh Johnson on your fantasy baseball team?
I have Josh Johnson(Marlins) on my team and I am wondering if I should trade him for Justin Verlander(Tigers). Would this be a good trade for me? Why or why not?

Answer:-I would rather have Verlander because Johnson is an injury risk and Verlander is still the pitcher that threw a no-hitter n the guy who went 18-6 with a 3.66 ERA
  • Question:-Do you think I can get Justin Verlander for Dan Haren straight up?
Or do I have to add someone with Haren, like a lower tier pitcher to get Verlander?

    Answer:-Well it sort of depends.

In public leagues a lot of the people there have no idea what they are doing, so getting Verlander for Haren and somebody else would be easy. Since Haren has the better "rank" and "O-rank" they are going to be valued higher than Verlander. In that case they would easily make that trade.

On the other hand, if you get a bunch of people together who know what they are doing, Haren for Verlander is fair, but wouldn't get done. Verlander has the chance to get 18+ under 3 ERA and probably 200+ K's. Ok so they are a bit high, but I don't believe Haren would put up those same numbers.

So public league, you might even be able to get a 2 for 1 since most players think that the better "O-rank" gets them the better player...Try telling that to Magglio Ordonez (ranked 4).

You would win the trade if you could pull it off. Its not fair, but your getting the better end.

    Good luck!!
  • Question:-Did Justin Verlander receive a gift from the Tigers for throwing a no-hitter?
Since Galarraga got a new car, did Verlander get something as well? Or was it some sort of make-up gift?

Answer:-Chevrolet gave Galarraga the car, not the Tigers organization.

    There's a difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game.
  • Question:-Does anyone know how to contact Justin Verlander or Rick Porcello of the Detroit Tigers?
I am volunteering for a non-profit and in charge of running the annual fundraiser. I was interested in contacting Verlander or Porcello for the fundraiser and I could not find any contact information regarding their booking agents. Did not know if anyone could help!

Answer:-Contact the team. They can help you.

Btw, if you can get them, can you get some autographs for me?
  • Question:-Why are so many people around here saying that Verlander didn't deserve the MVP?
I have seen more people than I can count using the old "He only plays every 5 days" validation. While this is true that a starter with pitch somewhere around 33 games and a position player over 150 but only a moron can say that a position player will affect the outcome of a game as much as a starting pitcher will. If you were to take Verlander out of the Tigers rotation and put in an average pitcher the Tigers wouldn't have even made the playoffs.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Tiger fans(and others),do you think Verlander will find his groove again?
I think he needs a better breaking ball. Maybe a nice cutter or sharper slider. The hitters are jumping on those flat fast balls. He needs a pitch to throw them off. A nice change up would be good also.I mean 95 mph fast balls are lethal-but not when the hitter expects it most of the time.We need an effective Verlander to compete this year.

Answer:-If it doesn't happen soon it ain't gonna happen. I read that he and his girlfriend had broken up but by now he should be over it enough to pitch decently. I heard he gave up seven runs in yesterday's game.
  • Question:-Is Verlander a virginia for not demanding the ball to pitch in ALCS game 4?
He needs to stop acting like a virginia & start game 4 & possibly 7.
Why dont pitchers man up like Bob Gibson & pitch on short rest anymore?

Answer:-Verlander Is a Virginian because that's where he was born.
    Gibson is a Nebraskan.
  • Question:-Should Verlander be given the day off tomorrow to play golf?
Even if the Tigers win game 5 the series is basically over. Should he be given the day off?

    Answer:-Yep.

cc sabathia

  • Question:-How may games did CC Sabathia Pitch that the Indians Won?
How may games did CC Sabathia Pitch that the Indians Won in the 2007 season?

I know his record in 2007 was 19-7, but that does not answer the question because the tribe could have been losing when Sabathia left the game. If another pitcher comes and and wins the game, the W goes to the second pitcher. That is one example of how the Tribe could win without Sabathia earning a W. However, he still pitched that game and the Tribe won.

Please provide some proof or documentation with your answer. Thank you.

Answer:-the Indians were 23-11 in games started by CC.
  • Question:-CC Sabathia?
How many wins will CC get this year, what will his ERA be, and will he win the Cy Young?
wrestleing fanatic, he already has 11 win so 10 is impossible.

Answer:-CC always seems to get run support from his team, and he pitches a lot of innings...I see him finishing the season with 23 wins (barring injury) a 3.12 ERA and the Cy Young Award.
  • Question:-What glove is cc sabathia have in the subway commercial?
what kind of glove does cc sabathia have in that commerical, the black and white nike one he's wearing?

Answer:-I believe he have a black and white Nike glove.
  • Question:-why is cc sabathia so good i havent seen anything that imperresed me but his stats prove it.?
how does cc sabathia get the strikeouts, everytime i watch him he is like any ordinary pitcher but his stats prove it. is it his repition on fastball changeup or what. oh and whats his best pitch.

Answer:-He's notorious for being a slow starter in the beginning of the season. Give him a chance. He will get better.
  • Question:-in fantasy baseball, should i trade bobby jenks and recieve cc sabathia?
in fantasy baseball, should i trade bobby jenks and recieve cc sabathia. i need starting pitching and i have 3 other closers besides jenks.

Answer:-Even though I am a big White Sox fan, I would have to say that Sabathia is a much better fantasy player than Jenks.
The only reason why it would be a bad trade would be if you get an insane amount of points for a save.
But using a standard scoring system or a head to head league, Sabathia will put up much better numbers and he will give you MANY more strikeouts, IP, and wins, and a similar ERA just above 3.00.
    Good Luck!
  • Question:-What would you give for CC Sabathia?
Since CC Sabathia is getting shopped by the Cleveland Indians, how much would you give up if you were the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, or Cubs?
He definitely is overweight, but he isn't old. He turns 28 in July.

Answer:-I believe that any one of these teams would benefit from adding Sabathia. He had a real tough start which makes some of his numbers look inflated, but he's still a quality (arguably star) pitcher. The real danger with Sabathia is how much longer he will be at the top of his game. He's not getting any younger and who knows what french fry will break the proverbial camels back. The Yankees certainly have the most need to add Sabathia. Their pitching is atrocious and they have the pocketbook to sign CC. However, if the Yankees do acquire him, it is almost certain that the age/health concerns will come to fruition. This, of course, would fall right in line with the Yankees apparent philosophy of signing washed up stars to bloated multi-million dollar contracts, only to finish with a .500 record behind the Red Sox and (yes, this year) the Rays. That being said, if the goal is to win today, I would be willing to give up some considerable young talent to acquire Sabathia if I were Brian Cashman.
  • Question:-Who do you think had the better overall start: Ben Sheets, or CC Sabathia?
    Pitching:

    CC Sabathia: 9 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K.

    Ben Sheets: 9 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K.

    Batting:

    CC: 1-4, 1 K.

    Big Ben: 1-4, RBI, 1 K.

Answer:-Sheeter. He needed a good start. The Nat's are a good to to recover against.
  • Question:-Who thinks CC Sabathia will flop on his face in the playoffs again?
There go the Yankees buying their team again. CC will choke in the playoffs like he did for the Tribe and the Brew Crew. Pending that the Yankees get there.

Answer:-Ok keep convincing yourself of that if it helps you sleep better, keep saying cc fails, cc fails, cc fails,.But here in ny we're all saying
CC WILL BE JUST FINE!!! LOL LOL LOL
  • Question:-Why doesn't CC Sabathia want to become a Yankee?
Let's forget the team. At $140 million, does it matter what team you go to? Apparently the answer is yes for CC Sabathia--but why? Do you guys think he is afraid of the big stage?

Answer:-CC wants the west coast and to be able to hit. With the Yankees, there's too much media exposure and everything that's done is magnified more than with other teams.

Personally, I think if he wanted the Yankees, he would have signed this contract already. Cashman is meeting him in Las Vegas, and if it doesn't get done, I think they pull back their offer.
  • Question:-would a trade for CC Sabathia and giving up Matt Kemp be a good idea?
Ive got an outfielder on my bench (Bourne) that could take his place and I really need the pitching. Other than Lester, Papelbon, Rivera, my pitchers are scrubs. CC would really boost my pitching.

Answer:-When you reduce your stats from Kemp to Bourne, you will be in shock. If you were OF rich, I could see it but you can't afford to make that deal. I don't mind trading a player who is worth more for a lesser player if it bolsters my lineup but this doesn't in the long run. Pass on it.

j.r. martinez

  • Question:-Who is actor J.R. Martinez?

Answer:-J.R. plays Brot Monroe in the popular soap All My Children. He was serving in the United States Army in Iraq, when he experienced burns to over 40 % of his body. (notice his face) He is also going to be on Dancing with the Stars.
  • Question:-Spiritually speaking, who do you think will win on DWTS?
    I'm rooting for J.R. Martinez.

Answer:-Spiritually speaking I cannot imagine that there is anything in this world that I could care less about.

Answer:-Most of it I'm cool with except for the Aidan thing. Why is it that soap writers can't seem to make a character interesting unless them make him/her bad? I've always liked Aidan and respected his integrity. Unfortunately, once again, the writers have decided that integrity is a thing of the past. Wonder who raised *them*.
  • Question:-What do you think of the new cast of dancing with the stars?
DWTS ( fall 2011) starts September 19. Heres the new cast. I think its a strange group. No "stars" as far as I'm concerned. I think the cast gets stranger every season. But we will see how it goes. Would just be intrested in others opinions. What do you think?

    Ron Artest
I had to check out who some of them were, since I hadn't heard of all of them. I will still watch though. Sometimes there are surprises.

Answer:-Dancing With The Stars is a joke. It's more like Dancing With Some People You May Have Heard Of Once.

tommy john surgery

  • Question:-How painful is Tommy John surgery and the recovery period?
Im 19 and have a complete tear of my UCL, the ligament reconstructed in Tommy John surgery. I go to the doctor next week and Im hoping to get the surgery as soon as possible. I was wondering what Im going to be looking at as far as pain from the surgery and recovery, how long my arm is going to be immobilized for, and if there is a preferred place I should have the graft tendon harvested from? Any tips would be helpful.
Also, did you have the surgery with one big open cut or laproscopically?

Answer:-im 19 also. had the surgery done on march 5th. i jst got back from working out.progressing very well. the pain lasted a few days but wasnt bad at all. i had some pretty good painkillers and so will you. i was in a splint for 2 weeks and a hinged brace for four weeks. therapy is great. they took the tendon from my hamstring because i dont have the palmoris in my wrist. dr andrews out of bham did my surgery and told me i have a very strong graft after surgery. the earliest i can pitch competitively will be somewhere around january if all goes well. im a college pitcher and had an average velocity of 92 mph when mine tore...should get it all back plus some dr andrews told me. good luck
  • Question:-How bad does tommy john surgery hurt?
I'm having tommy john surgery on November 13th and was wondering how bad it hurts. I'm a college baseball player and hopefully I can make a full recovery and continue living my dream and hopefully play professionally one day. I am just wondering what I should expect the pain to be and the recovery.

    Thanks!

Answer:-im not a doctor or anything but i just had the surgery about a month ago myself. So far i haven'tt had any pain what so ever i didn't even need any pain killers after the surgery. From what i have heard the most pain comes inphysicall therapy.I dont know if this helps or not but good luck
  • Question:-How often do players, other than pitchers, have Tommy John surgery?
I was just scrolling through a list of injured players and I noticed Chris Coste, a catcher with the Nationals, had Tommy John surgery this year. I've only heard of pitchers having this procedure; is it common with other players as well?

Answer:-Any time this procedure is done, it is usually pitchers, but catchers must make strong throws too, so they too would require it, if and when it becomes frayed or torn(the ulnar collateral ligament) and the player is unable to make strong throws.

So any player that needs a strong throwing arm to play is eligible and/or a candidate for the Tommy John procedure.
  • Question:-Where can I find a list of pitchers who have had tommy-john surgery?
I'm doing a statistical analysis comparing pitchers before and after tommy-john surgery. Anyone know where I can get a list of pitchers who had the surgery? Wikipedia and similar sources only list "notable" players who had it. This can be biased set of data.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Answer:-http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/feed/2010-08/strasburg-injured/story/pitchers-who-have-had-tommy-john-surgery
  • Question:-How painful is Tommy John surgery?
I am a 15 yr old pitcher and have been pitching for like 8 years. I recently went to the doctor an was told I have a tear in my Tommy John ligament. I was wondering, if I need Tommy John surgery how painful is it?

Answer:-You don't feel the surgery as you are anesthetized.

Post operative is hell, but not torture.

Get a second opinion. Sometimes with rest and therapy, but no pitching. ulnar ligaments will heal without surgery.

    Good luck!
  • Question:-how can i get tommy john surgery?
cuz i heard you get better at pitching after getting it?

so i want tommy john surgery. should i just have rough sx on the sofa and strain my arm or somethin? cuz i want tommy john surgery to get better at pitching.
bob we'll have some fun tonight.

Answer:-Forget Tommy John surgery. Get psychiatric help instead.

    Sarge
  • Question:-I have heard of Tommy John surgery, but who is Tommy John?
I have heard about Tommy John surgery, was he the first pitcher to receive it?
    Was he a good pitcher?

Answer:-He was a pitcher for the Yankees in the late 1970's early 1980's that had a elbow problem that could only be fixed by surgery and he was the first one to receive it; hence the term Tommy John surgery or operation for elbow problems, I think he was quite a good pitcher and the operation extended his career, which otherewise would probaly have been finished.
  • Question:-Why am I worried of getting Tommy John surgery?
Ok so Im a 13 - 14 year old baseball pitcher and I'm really worried about getting Tommy John surgery in the future if I keep pitching hard, PLEASE HELP im really worried and im starting to think of quitting Baseball even though I love it so much.

I know that if I change my mechanics there would be less of a risk on getting the surgery. If you know any possible way please let me know as I'm really worried.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-I know what Tommy John surgery is, but what is the technical term for what it repairs?
like: arthroscopic surgery fixes a TORN ACL as to tommy john surgery fixes....what?

Answer:-Tommy John surgery is ulnar collateral ligament repair (UCL repair).
  • Question:-How soon after Tommy John surgery can you play pick up basketball?
I had the surgery February 2 and am ahead of schedule..my position in baseball is outfielder

Answer:-Is there a doctor in the house?
Please ask your doctor and not the quacks here.

john lackey

  • Question:-John Lackey?
Would anyone argue that John Lackey is the best pitcher in baseball right now. Johan is somewhat strugglling....I'd take Lackey if i need a win. You?
Beckett's the argument...but Lackey is so much better....he's a strong "Texan"

Answer:-Peavey's the best right now. 7 wins, 1.68, former ERA leader, former K leader. Beckett's up there 8-0.

But, Santana has been the bes tpitcher in the majors over the past few years. Struggling for Santana is 3.21. He always turns it up after the break. So, if your team needed a win, Santana would be the best bet.
  • Question:-How much would a John Lackey autographed baseball sell for?
I got the signature in November of 2007. I have a picture with John Lackey and I as he was signing it. Any ideas how much it could get?

Answer:-It really depends on how much someone wants it. A John Lackey fan would no doubt pay more for it.
  • Question:-In fantasy baseball would it be a good trade for me to trade away John Lackey for Joey Votto and Jermaine Dye?
I have a pitching oriented team, including Jake Peavy, Scott Kazmir, John Danks, Tim Lincecum, Javier Vasquez, Duchscherer, Brett Myers, Billy Wagner, Jair Jurjenns and Ben Sheets. So I have a very solid pitching lineup. Would it be a good trade for me to trade Lackey for two players with power upside?

Answer:-You have an outstanding pitching staff, with Peavy, Lincecum, Vasquez, and Jurrjens, so this is a good trade for you.

You're only giving up one starter and you're getting two solid bats in return with Dye and Votto.
  • Question:-How do the Angels expect to win a championship without John Lackey?
Jesus F Christ am I pissed. I love it that they got Matsui but why not pay Lackey what he's worth. Not real happy about Figgins not getting paid either but losing Lackey is a debacle.

Answer:-The Angels don't rely on their pitching to win games; they rely on their offense. Anyway, in terms of stats, Lackey was not the best pitcher for the Angels last year. Weaver was. Plus, the playoffs don't start tomorrow. They still have a few months to trade for an ace if they feel they need it.
  • Question:-Why are people criticizing John Lackey for divorcing his wife because she got cancer?
I think he has every right to because that's not who he married. If he wanted to marry someone with cancer he would have done that but he married someone who didn't have cancer. I think I would stick with them if that happened to my wife but Lackey is a baseball player and he has more options plus she is dragging down his career.

Answer:-If John Lackey had the same ERA but was playing for the Royals, no one would even know about this story.
  • Question:-Can anyone tell me why John Lackey did not get his stats from Monday added to my matchup?
I play Yahoo! Fantasy and it is a very big week for me. However, Lackey did not have his stats added even after three days (Yes, I DID start him). Please tell me what can I do.

Answer:-Contact Yahoo. But do you really want his stats?
  • Question:-How does John Lackey get ejected from a game after throwing only 2 pitches?
Somebody wanna explain that to me?

Answer:-His first pitch went behind Ian Kinsler. His second pitch hit Kinsler. I think it is ridiculous, but also really funny. The ump definitely overreacted.
  • Question:-What are the chances of seeing John Lackey in Mets uniforms next year?
What a perfect position it would be for him to come into the Mets rotation as the number 2 starter, behind Johan Santana. I'm sure were going to be on the market for a quality starting pitcher. I say if we have the money, stretch it out and pick up a Joel Pinero or Jason Marquis while you're at it. Starting pitching is a huge spot for us to be concerned with. Oliver Perez, and Mike Pelfrey are stable pitchers, so it's CRITICAL that we get some new arms.
    Correction, NOT stable.

Answer:-The mets could be a world series team if they improve the pitching. They need to have a number 2 pitcher who can take the heat off of santana.
  • Question:-If the Mets acquire John Lackey and Matt Holliday will they be able to get to the playoffs?
BQ: If they acquire those players would they make it to the World Series?
BQ2: Would they have a better record than the Yankees and the Phillies, their two biggest rivals?
The Mets have all the capabilities to acquire these two players, so don't say that the Mets don't have enough money. Also I am assuming they will be healthy throughout the entire season, so answer from that perspective.

Answer:-Well I am a big Mets fan and I know the sucked last year but they had every single starter hurt at one point or another besides Castillo. Also much of the rotation was banged up. So right there they will be better. While they will improve they still need more pitching because behind Santana they suck. So while Holliday is a great player they could play Fernando Martinez or someone else in leftfield. I think they would be much better if they got another average pitcher in addition to Lackey. They would have a rotation of Santana, Lackey, Marquis/Piniero, Perez and Pelfrey. They already have plenty of all-star hitters so they should be ok if everyone stays healthy. But if there team looked like that than they would have a shot at the division but may make just the wild card since the Phillies are a great team. After last season if they win 85 games it is a great season so be patient.

*For those who say the Mets have no money you are wrong. Delgado, Putz, Schneider and several others are free agents. By the way Minaya never lost money to Madoff he actually gained about 15 million from the investment and you can look it up
  • Question:-Is John lackey the perfect example on how Win and Losses are a bad way to judge a pitcher?
Boston pink fans are raving on how the guy is 8-3.... BUT LOOK AT HIS ERA!! LMAO!! 18M FOR THAT GARBAGE?? WOW.

Answer:-No, the best example is Derek Lowe. At least, the Red Sox has consistent run outputs. How come Derek can get 8 wins with ERA about 5?

Plus, Kawakami’s pitching stats other than the W-L record is very similar to Lowe’s. He got average run support for about 3 runs per game. Lowe received about 10 runs per game. Remember, they pitching for the same team.

Normally, I support looking at W-L record but those two are just ridiculous.

chris carpenter

  • Question:-Chris Carpenter!!!?
Ok since his season is basically over(he'll be back for 10 starts tops).... Im gonna drop him, but i dont kno who i should drop him for heres the top 10 starting picthers on the free agents:

    Jeff Suppan
    Tim Wakefield
    Oliver Pérez
    Claudio Vargas
    Shawn Hill
    Jarrod Washburn
    Jorge De La Rosa
    Joe Blanton
    Matt Belisle
    Wilfredo Ledezma

so should i keep carpenter or drop him for one of these guys?? i was thinking of dropping him for Joe Blanton because he had another solid start today and got the win... but who do you guys think i should drop him for?? please help!! thanks

Answer:-Yes - dump Carpenter. If you want K's, Oliver Perez seems to be back on his game and has a big offense behind him. Look at his numbers. If you are more concerned with ERA/WHIP, Suppan may be your guy. They should end up very close in W's. Good luck.
  • Question:-Up until Chris Carpenter's latest start, I thought Lincecum was the Cy Young?
Anyone else feel that Chris Carpenter is almost a no doubter for Cy Young?

Answer:-Nah, Carpenter's been the favorite for a while now. I've been saying that there's still a few starts left and that Lincecum might catch up, but since he's missing tonight's start with back spasms, it looks like it's going to be Carpenter this year. I don't begrudge him it, he's had a fantastic year.

I have been a bit annoyed with some of the Carpenter fans on Y!A lately, though. There's no need to be nasty about Giants fans (or any fans) supporting their ace.
  • Question:-Should I start Chris Carpenter this week in my fantasy league?
Apr 8 Joe Strauss, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter (elbow) will not start Tuesday, April 10, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is returning to St. Louis to have an MRI on his ailing right elbow. He had a long-toss session Friday, April 6, with no problems and also tossed from the mound Saturday, April 7. His elbow flared up overnight and he wants to find out the exact nature of the problem. (KFFL)

Answer:-Hopefully you didn't start him. Swelling and pain have returned - he's regressed. And he's skipping the road trip. Here is the info in depth from the source:

  • Question:-Were you aware of the real Chris Carpenter?
Chris Carpenter went 15 and 8 this season overall.
Vs. Teams over .500 he was 4 and 6.
Vs. Teams under .500 he was 11 and 2.
He did not face the Mets this season untill tonight.
The Mets were tied for the best record in baseball. I guess this means that they must have been over .500 (.599 to be exact, 97 and 65). Incidentally the Mets are also riding an 8 game winning streak.

I say 5, how many games will the Mets need to sent the Cardinals home?
Right Georgie they would have had more wins. The Mets did play the Yankees for 6 games, and Toronto for 3 the Red Sox for 3 and some a bunch of teams way better than KC!

By the way, didn't KC end up with the worst record in the AL, who did they sweep, and knock out of first place the last weekend of the year? hmmmm
The Cy Young award has yet to be givin, Billy Wagner should win it, he was the best pitcher in the NL this year, plain and simple.

Answer:-Very interesting indeed!!! I had already picked the Mets to win in 6. Whether Carpenter is their stopper or not, the Cardinals still don't have the depth in their pitching staff to fight off the Mets offensive power. I'll stick to my forecast of 6 just in case it rains again and Carpenter gets lucky in his second start, (if there is a second start!! lol)
  • Question:-Which pitcher should I drop when Chris Carpenter comes off the DL?
    SP Paul Maholm
    SP Tim Hudson
    SP James Shields
    SP Josh Johnson
    SP Scott Baker
    SP Cliff Lee
    SP Chris Carpenter
    SP Chris Volstad
    RP C.J. Wilson
    P Salomón Torres
    P José Valverde
    P Fernando Rodney

I think it should be between Volstad and Maholm, but they're both pitching well. Your thoughts?

Answer:-I'd drop Johnson. He's inconsistent unproven, besides one year, here in the MLB. I'd also consider dropping Rodney. He isn't a good closer and you have two other great closers. Volstad has shown some consistency and might actually be that good this season.

I'd also consider putting Hudson on the DL and not dropping anyone to get Carpenter. If you can do this, then I recommend it. You don't have to drop anyone.
  • Question:-Why isnt Chris Carpenter considerd the best pitcher in baseball?
People say its other people like Verlander Halliday and Kershaw but Carpenter made Halliday look like a clown. why dont people give him credit he diserves. Hes soooo much better then any other pitcher but nobody says that they allways say one of the other ones
i like how your all on Hallidays dickkk. wheres he nowwww??? HOMEEEE!!! he got beat by da man Carpenter!

Answer:-Chris Carpenter is sh!t compared to Halladay.
  • Question:-Is Chris Carpenter going to get lit up because he is to emotionally involved with Halladay?
Carp is a great friend of Halladay and that is a big problem for the Cardinals because his emotions of not wanting to beat his good pal will hurt his pitching. I think he will get lit up and actually feel great about it because his fishing buddy Halladay will advance in the playoffs to get a ring.
    Phillies 13 Cardinals 2.
    Your thoughts?

Answer:-Carpenter will come thru for us hes going to mop the floor with Holladay.
  • Question:-Who will you rather have on your fantasy team Josh Johnson or Chris Carpenter?
Just learning that my ace Brandon Webb is heading to the DL. Josh was lights out in his first and in his last start vs the Mets and Carpenter was great in his last start. Which of the two can help my pitching staff the most?

Answer:-I like Carpenter, because of his greatness before he got hurt. Johnson is a potential ace, but not proven yet. Either of them you should not go wrong. Good Luck.
  • Question:-How do you think Chris Carpenter is going to do in his first start back?

Answer:-he should do pretty good. he at one point was the best pitcher in baseball a few years back. he still has the stuff and the potential..
  • Question:-Is Chris Carpenter really going to be out for 3 months?
i have chris carpenter for my fantasy baseball league and i heard rumors that he is going 2 b out for 3 months. is this true?

Answer:-From what I have heard, yes. He is going to undergo right elbow surgery. The inflamation was cause by bone spurs. So drop him now and pick up Jeff Suppan. Suppan will have a good year with the Brewers. Or you could even pick up Jason Marquis. Another great prospect is Lincecum. He is predicted to be great.

cj wilson

  • Question:-Do you think CJ Wilson could embarrass The Yankees offense?
Do it Wilson! Do it for everyone with the last name Wilson, because Brian Wilson on the giants is an ass player and gets overrated because of his paul bunyan beard.
Welcome to the post-season it makes players play like gods except for CC who plays like an overweight pitcher ready to have a heart-attack.

Answer:-Now that the Rays are eliminated, the post season can finally begin!
  • Question:-CJ Wilson or Brian Wilson? Which pitcher is better and which one would you want on your team?
Battle of the Wilson's, who is going to represent the Wilson name the best?
Are they related or no? Just the last name is common>?

Answer:-I have to pick Brian Wilson. He is a leader. Has the bulldog mentality and is fearless.

He does not follow any set of rules and does what he wants to get the job done (but is still a team player). Just look at MLB putting a fine on him for the orange shoes...Geez.

Got the mohawk going and started the "Fear of his Black Beard" thing going. What a character. Thowing high 90's fastballs and cutters don't hurt either.
  • Question:-What number is CJ Wilson on the Texas Rangers?
He's my favorite player, and I wanted to make a t-shirt. What number is he? Thanks!

    Answer:-number 36. He's a really great pitcher though.

He went to the all star game this year.
  • Question:-Why did it take so long to discover CJ Wilson had Starter talent?
BQ: Do you see him being an Ace in the near future?

Answer:-It takes people a little bit longer to realize what's going on after inhaling cocaine

BQ: Yes I do, he certainly has the potential to become the Ace
  • Question:-Should I accept fantasy baseball trade jonothan broxton for cj wilson?
Is Broxton doing good this year, I know one's a closer and one's a starter.

Answer:-It really comes down to where you are at in the standings for saves in your league. If you are in the mix and can pick up more spots, hold on to broxton.I wouldn't touch that trade with a ten foot pole. Broxton is a stud closer, one of the best in the game. CJ WIlson is 10-5 , 100K in 133 inn. He has good stuff and is on one of the best teams in baseball sure to win a ton more games but for my money hold the star closer and punt the Wilson trade
  • Question:-Chad Cordero might be hurt. Should I drop CJ Wilson and pick up Jon Rauch as insurance?
My other closers are Jeremy Accardo and Jose Valverde. 12 team league, head to head.

Answer:-Rauch did get the win today so do it anyway!
  • Question:-Is this a good trade for fantasy baseball- Evan Longoria and Max Scherzer for Gaby Sanchez and CJ Wilson?
I am a serious fantasy player with the jackpot of money if i win. I am 7-0. Is this a good trade. Think $1000 is at stake.

    Answer:-Not a good trade.

Longoria is better than Sanchez. Power stats are tougher to find than avg.

Scherzer is slightly better than Wilson. This advantage will increase over the summer as balls start flying out in Texas, which happens every year.
  • Question:-Was CJ Wilson's start considered a complete game?
I know he only went 8 innings but since the Rangers were away he was only able to 8 innings. Would that still be considered a complete game since there was no way Wilson could pitch the 9th unless the Rangers scored

Answer:-Yes if he was the only pitcher the Rangers used, then it's a complete game.
  • Question:-better choice for fantasy baseball in 2008, CJ Wilson or Tony Pena?
Tony Pena, the setup guy for the Dbacks or CJ Wilson, the closer for Texas. i dont have closers which is a problem but i dont wanna "spread myself thin" either by being average in every category instead of really really good in one and terrible in another. is it worth trading Tony Pena for CJ Wilson if all i'm getting back is one closer anyway? im in yahoo fantasy baseball head to head league.

Answer:-cj wilson , omg he is going to get you much more points
  • Question:-Are the chances of CJ Wilson signing with the Yankees worse since the Rangers made the World Series?
    I hope not

    Answer:-
