  • Question:-How do I reheat my sweet potato casserole for tomorrow?
I'm making a sweet potato casserole tonight to bring to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. What would be the best way to reheat it? I'm afraid if I put in the oven, it will dry out and my topping may get too browned. I'm scared to use the microwave, for obvious reasons! I'm making this totally from scratch and it's taking me all evening. I really don't want it to be ruined due to reheating method. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Happy Thanksgiving!

Answer:-Hello! You will have to do this in advance and it will be just as if freshly cooked! :)

Take it out of the fridge and leave on the counter for an hour or half an hour to bring to room temp, as long as the heat is not running in your house, you don't want it to get ruined. If you must run the heater then leave on the counter only 15 minutes.

Put in the oven, covered with aluminum foil or wax paper, on 200 or 250 degrees only and warm it up very slowly, for an hour. Check it after 30 minutes to make sure it's going ok. Test temperature, you may have to leave it 15 more min to half hour if you're using 200 degrees. Of course high altitude changes all this, you'll want to give it more time if high alt.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!! ♥

  • Question:-How do you make sweet potato casserole?
I would like to learn how to make sweet potato casserole. A simple, easy recipe, without pecans, but marsh mellow on top. Please!

    Answer:-Preheat over to 400 degrees

4 Medium Sweet Potatoes (one per person, unless you have lots of other sides, then 1 for 2 people.
2-4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, I use 4, unless it's a health conscious day.
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1 package regular size marshmallows

Wash and wrap the sweet potatoes in foil, place on a baking sheet covered with foil. The potatoes often leak juices which and be tough to clean.
Bake sweet potatoes in pre heated oven for an hour or until very soft.
Remove foil and peel potatoes. They will be hot so be careful.
Place potatoes in mixer bowl, add butter and maple syrup, beat until smooth.
Turn potato mixture into a nice casserole dish. You can now refrigerate overnight or continue to bake your casserole.
If refrigerated, preheat to 350 degrees, and heat casserole until sweet potatoes are hot. Cover top with marshmallows, raise heat to 400 degrees and bake until marshmallow start to melt and take on some color. Watch carefully or they will burn. If you wish to continue baking, just top with marshmallows and bake in the 400 degree oven as above.

I often add some grated orange peel and juice from the orange. My mom and aunt always used canned sweet potatos, but the baked sweets have much more flavor.
  • Question:-what is the best way to cook sweet potatoes for a sweet potato casserole?
i'm baking a sweet potato casserole for our christmas dinner and i'm wondering what the best way to cook the potatoes is. i here that if you boil them it takes a lot of the sweetness out of them so if that is true then i need to know how to bake sweet potatoes and for how long and at what temperature. thanks (:

Answer:-I say boil them; just watch them so they don't get mushy. Peel, & chop into equal sizes; they should boil anywhere from 15 - 25 minutes; just check for doneness with a fork.

If they dry out with baking; that's gross. Who wants dry sweet potatoes -- sorry about that, but I don't see the point of drying them out.

Try this recipe for sweet potato puff if you are worried about the sweetness; it's delicious, and devoured every holiday. I give the recipe to everyone who eats it; even those who don't like sweet potatoes. It's a winner!

    Merry Christmas.
  • Question:-How do I make Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallows on top?
I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year and so I went out and bought everything, including fresh sweet potatoes, only to learn that my mother has ALWAYS made her sweet potato casserole with canned sweet potatoes. No one wants something different and every recipe I find on the web that has marshmallows on top also calls for canned. So does any one have an old fashioned recipe that calls for fresh and includes the marshmallows on top???

Answer:-Bake your potatos until soft. Let them cool down enough to handle -- peel and cut into bite size pieces. Place the pieces in a buttered 13x9 pan, add about 1/2 cup of brown sugar (sprinkle on top of potatos), sprinkle with chopped pecans. Pour bag of marshmallows on top and even out. Bake at 350 until mallows are gooey and brown on top. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

I made a sweet potato casserole (prepared with eggs, milk, butter and sugar) but forgot to put it out at Thanksgiving so I froze it hoping I could use it for Christmas dinner. I don't want to take any chances last minute. Will this taste okay?

weather phoenix

  • Question:-What kind of grass grows best in hot dry weather (Phoenix)?
My husband and I are homeowners for the first time and we wanted grass in our backyard. We live in Phoenix, which of course is hot, and we wondering what the best type of grass is for this climate.

    Answer:-Hi:
You will want to grow warm weather grasses. In your geographic location you can use Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine and Centipede. You could also do a couple of cool weather grasses, such as Tall Fescue and Kentucky Blue Grass. These will all work and you can do seed or sod. I will link you to the outdoor feature section of my website. There is a page on sod versus seed and also a page on warm weather turf grasses. These two pages may help you. I will also link you to the site map, as this page has everything that is on the website. There are many articles, tips, and techniques that may give you additional information. Good luck to you and have a great day!

  • Question:-What is the weather like in Phoenix Arizona?
OK so I am leaving on a business trip to Phoenix Arizona on December 3rd, and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what the weather is like at this time of the year? Thanks

Answer:-40.2 - 66.4 degrees Fahrenheit on average in December :D

    Have a good trip!
  • Question:-Is anyone familiar with the weather in Phoenix this time of year?
We are flying out next Tuesday. We plan to fly our puppy out with us. The airline won't fly her if it is going to be above 85 degrees at any point during our trip. They won't check the hour by hour temp forecast until we check in before dawn Tuesday morning. We are scheduled to arrive in Phoenix at 9:45 AM. Is it likely to be up to 85 or above by that time? Similarly, we are scheduled to fly out of Phoenix at 6:00 AM on October 27th. Is it apt to be that hot so early in the morning?

Answer:-Right now it is 10:00 AM in downtown Phoenix and it is 80 F. The forecast high is 89. We’re having a cold spell. The forecast high is going up each day of the extended forecast and is predicted at 95 on Thursday and 94 on Friday. It is very likely that the temperature could be 85 or above at 9:45 AM on Tuesday if you are talking about the 16th of October and not tomorrow. Unfortunately, our long range forecasts and our averages are suffering from climate change. We have had one of the hottest summers on record this year (and here, it is still summer). The last few days, however, have had way below average temperatures. But all the weather sources say that this is changing and the temps are going back up. But the predictions are sometimes off by a lot. If you’re flying from the east coast, you’re not likely to encounter higher temps before you get here. You shouldn’t have any problem with 6:00 AM on the 27th. I would recommend that you make some contingency plans for your puppy that you can put into action on the evening before you leave, and keep an eye on the Weather Channel or call the National Weather Service. If you want, you can send me a private message on Monday and I’ll let you know what the local forecasters are predicting for Tuesday. What time zone are you in? I’m 3 hours earlier than EDT, 2 hours if you are going to be back on standard time by then. (We don’t do daylight time, so I don’t keep up.) If you write me on Monday, I won’t be able to answer until around 7:00 PM Phoenix time (MST). In the time it took for me to write this, the downtown temp has gone up 1 degree.
  • Question:-What is the weather like in phoenix Ariz in March?
What is the typical weather like in Phoenix Ariz. in March? Any packing suggestions? Will be flying there for the first time around the first of March

Answer:-It's beautiful here in March. It will be in the high 70s, possible low 80s with lots of sunshine. There is a possibility of rain, but if you check the weather websites a couple of days before you leave you can get the upcoming week's forecast and if it shows sunny days all the way through you can rely on that. Hope you have a great time, there is so much to see and do here.

  • Question:-How is the weather in Phoenix Arizona? I'm planning a trip there and want to bring to right type of clothing.

Answer:-The mornings now are comfortble cool. 65-75.
The heat starts about 10 AM and it goes into the 90's.
Bring summer clothes and light fall.
A very light jacket in case of a cold spell for any one not used to the sudden changes.
Mid Oct winter sort of starts with the AM being much cooler, but the temp rises about 20 degrees by 11AM.
Thats for Phoenix. If you plan on any trips to Flagstaff or the High country bring some heavier pieces.

    Add-On:
    It's 10:50 PM Saturday night, 6 Oct., and it's 58 degrees.
Just a note if your a night owl.

180 degrees

  • Question:-What would happen if the outside temperature got up to 180 degrees?
What would happen if the summer temps were to go reach 180 degrees F? When will the buildings eventually start to fall down or crack? I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building complex, and 3rd is the highest floor. Would the 180 degree temp outside have an effect on me or the building itself?

Answer:-At that temperature, you would likely see some minor damage to your home. However, I would be more concern about how I can survive at least until the next cooling trend. The A/C would likely be of little help and there would likely be no power too. That heat can easily kill a person if you stayed in that apartment with no A/C,
  • Question:-What is the name for the longitudal line at 180 degrees?
I know that the Prime Meridian is 0 degrees on the longitude scale. But what is 180 degrees--the point exactly opposite the Prime Meridian on Earth?

Answer:---The International Date Line (IDL)----------------The International Date Line (IDL) is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth opposite the Prime Meridian where the date changes as one travels east or west across it. Roughly along 180° longitude, with diversions to pass around some territories and island groups, it mostly corresponds to the time zone boundary separating -12 and +12 hours Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) (Greenwich Mean Time – GMT). Crossing the IDL travelling east results in a day or approximately 24 hours being subtracted, and crossing west results in a day being added. The exact number of hours depends on the time zones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Date_Line -------------------- The International Date Line around 180° http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:International_Date_Line.png
  • Question:-On a Magnetic motor we need the polarity to reverse at 180 degrees to keep the motor in a constant?
Is it possible to reverse the polarity at 180 Degrees on a Magnetic motor so the magnetic fields continue as overlaping increasing fields like it did from top to 180 Degrees. Without reverse polarity at 180 Degrees we have a break point.

Answer:-A motor's torque is maximum when the rotor is about 90 degrees out of phase magnetically with the stator. Any more than that and the rotor again approaches equilibrium, albeit an unstable one. In most motors, it isn't so much the alternation of the magnetic polarities that provides the driving force so much as the the poles' rotation about the stator that drives the rotor. This rotation is inherent in a three-phase motor or a single-phase motor with a phase splitter. Otherwise, the motor requires a mechanical asymmetry between the stator and rotor, most often the result of the existing motion of the rotor or somewhat dodgy commutation with the armature. Such motors often have poor starting torque before the asymmetry is well-established or are less reliable than polyphase motors.
  • Question:-How do I flip a powerpoint slide 180 degrees?
I'm doing a presentation on Angels and Demons and would like to have the ambigrams flip 180 degrees in front of the audience without having to open up the tool bar in front of them and causing a lull in the presentation. I would like it to be a graphic of some sort so it rotates on its own. Is is possible to do this and how? I'm using Powerpoint 2008 for mac.

Answer:-Duplicate the slide - (View --> Slide View --> click slide, Edit --> Duplicate) click the graphic on the new slide - select 'Draw' --> 'Rotate or Flip' --> 'Flip Horizontal' (if that choice is grayed out, ungroup and then regroup the graphic)

give the slide a dissolve transition. don't use a jump cut, don't use a fade through black, don't use an up-left. use dissolve.

    done.
  • Question:-How long should I bake Fish with Olive Oil on it at 180 degrees celcius?
    Hi,

I've read some places that the smoking point for olive oil is 190 degrees celcius, so I decided to bake fish using olive oil at 180 degrees celcius, and it's been almost half an hour, and the fish seems not even close to being cooked.

How long do I have to wait?

    Is there a better way?
    celsius*****

Answer:-Nowhere near a half hour. Fish should flake with a fork and be at least 72 degrees celsius throughout for food safety.
  • Question:-How many feet are in a circle that is 180 degrees in diameter?
We are installing a wireless dog fence that's 180 degrees in diameter and are wondering what the footage is if we are to walk the whole circle.

Answer:-Circumference of a circle is the diameter multiplied by pi. You can't measure the diameter in degrees, so I'll assume you mean feet, in which case the circumference of your dog pound will be 3.14159 x 180ft, 565.5ft.

  • Question:-Is my homebrew going to be ok since I let it get up to 180 degrees during the boil?
Today is bottling day for my Ruby red IPA. Two weeks ago when I boiled the wort I used a larger burner on my stove. I had not realized it was a larger burner and the beer boiled much quicker and got up to 180 degrees. For what it's worthI used a grain/extract.

Answer:-I highly doubt you’ll have a problem. The “boil” temperature and length can affect grain/hop flavors infused into the wort along with the types of grains/hops used. For instance, if you’re making a whit that you only want to lightly spice, you’d add your bitter orange peal, coriander, ect... during your last 5-10 minutes of the boil. For stronger more pronounce flavor, you could introduce them earlier in the boil. Volume measurements and time length are the main differences between my homebrew IPA and someone else’s aside from ingredients.

  • Question:-How much worse of an idea is it for NY/NJ to host a Super Bowl seeing the weather Texas is having?
Same weather in the NY/NJ area and things will be shut down totally. The ice/snow will be much worse there.

Answer:-it's a terrible idea and I've said that since NY/NJ was awarded the Superbowl. I really do not know what the NFL is thinking when it does things like that.
  • Question:-Where can I get the Elizabeth, NJ weather forecast for Thursday? What website?
I need to find out the Barometer pressure for Thursday, but I neeto get it from a website. I can't find it anywhere! I tried google already. It just tells me about NJ basketball games. Help me please!!

Answer:-The National Weather Service is the best site for weather forecasts. Here's the link for Elizabeth,NJ:
    http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Elizabeth&state=NJ&site=OKX&textField1=40.6664&textField2=-74.1942&e=1

It doesn't give you the exact barometric pressure until Thursday but it's supposed to be mostly sunny so it will probably be on the high side.
  • Question:-Traveling to Wildwood NJ this weekend - need local weather report?

  • Question:-What is the difference between the weather in NYC/NJ and Augusta, GA in the winter time?
In other words, what temperatures is cold to you in the south (GA) 30-50 degrees? Is that cold cold like it is in (NY/NJ)? Which winter temperatures is most comfortable? GA or NY/NJ?

Answer:-Well technically, NYC and just about all of New Jersey fall in the same climate zone as Augusta: Humid Subtropical. This means that the month with the lowest mean temperature may not fall below 26.6 degrees Fahrenheit, and the warmest may not rise above 71.6 degrees Farenheit. ALSO, the Record highs are very similar. In NYC it is 106, as well as in Tallahassee, Florida.

Back to your question, technically the only difference between the weather is that average temperatures are less than in Augusta, but if a powerful cold front comes through, temperatures will be similar (like right now.) I am from NJ, and I'll tell ya, nobody thinks 30 degrees is warm! Of course 50 degrees is more comfortable!

  • Question:-I'm supposed to be headed North sometime this weekend (to NJ). The weather sucks. What day is best to leave?
I can leave anytime after 10am Friday (tomorrow). Just tryin' to get some other input from people who can maybe read a weather map better than I can.

Answer:-The weather is really bad here. Every school in the area is closed, colleges included. Unless it is an EMERGENCY you might want to hold off. It's not worth risking your life over. There have been many accidents and if you're not used to driving in snow your chances of getting into an accident are even worse. If you decide you MUST make the trip, give yourself plenty of time and don't go fast. Better to be late than never!

st louis weather

  • Question:-what type of bamboo is suited for St.Louis weather?

Answer:-There are literally hundreds and hundreds or varieties of bamboo. ranging in height from a foot or two, to 60, 80 feet tall. (Though a great many of them are between 4 and 20 feet tall). They also vary greatly in their hardiness. Some do well even where winters are quite severe. Some grow ONLY in mild climates. Some are "clumping" types, which don't spread much. Others will eat your neighbor's yards - and houses too, if you let them.

Best thing to do is go to a reputable nursery in your area (in the summer - they will not have any in stock right now). Most likely they will not even carry any varieties that will not survive in your area. Then you can narrow down, amoung your choices there, for height, color, density, and other features.

If you get a chance go to the Zoo, and the science center. They are free or practically free and in or near Forest Park. Welcome.
  • Question:-Did anyone hear why John Fuller is leaving KSDK channel 5 St. Louis weather ?
I heard John Fuller is leaving the team of KSDK channel 5 . I have always thought he was a good weather broadcaster. Has anyone heard why he is leaving?

Answer:-I read in Deb Peterson's gossip column in the Post Dispatch that John was asked to take a pay cut in order to stay with KSDK. I too thought he was a good weather person. Better than perky Cindy. She doesn't even know how to pronounce Missouri town names after all this time. I wish John Fuller good luck.

Every time a snow storm comes towards St. Louis, it almost always breaks apart and after it passes it reforms. I've noticed this trend lately and was wondering a simple explaination for this. Does it have something to do with the terrain?

Answer:-Terrain is a possiblitiy, or maybe it is just a coincidence. this happens here too only with rain. it looks like a huge line of storms will come and there is nothing left when it comes, then it reforms.
  • Question:-How is the weather near St Louis , Mo year round?

It kind of sounds like Texas weather.

Answer:-We have four distinct seasons. Spring is best. It starts late March and runs until about June 1. Temperatures will generally be in the 50's to 70's, with rain at least once per week. Today it is cool and 61 degree. By Sunday it is supposed to reach 90 degrees. After June 1 and up to July 4 summer sets in but it is generally not too hot. Highs will be in the '80's to 90 degrees. Once July 4 hits, and at least through the end of August it is hot (90+/-) and humid. Good weather to hit the swimming pool. Fall in St. Louis gets underway in September and lasts to end of November. It is beautiful with a lot of great colors. Generally the highs are in the 40's to 60's and it is dry. Winter sets in during December and stays with us until late March. It is cool to cold (highs in the 30-40 range with some subzero days. We have 3-4 snows per winter but usually not more than 3-4" of snow.
  • Question:-Memphis Tennessee vs. St. Louis Missouri weather, why such a large difference?
I find it amazing that just 220 miles over non mountanious terrain, just futher north could play such a hug difference in temperature readings. Are these two cities in between an area where cold weather goes to die? St. Louis has an average January temperature only two degrees warmer than Pittsburgh! Memphis has a January average that is just one degree cooler than Dallas! We are only talking 220 miles between these cities of Memphis and Saint Louis. I live in Corpus Christi Texas, and a good example of 220 miles north of here is Austin, Texas. Austin has a similiar climate to Corpus Christi, although it is a few degrees colder, there really is not much difference between the two cities climate - both are hot and humid.
