  The mom had 6 kids before taking more fertility treatments and then she had 8 more kids... a grand total of 14 kids! Seriously, after 6, wouldn't you think that's enough?

  Answer:-i think she is an idiot, she isn't even living at home. and she already had six. maybe it was a sign that's enough children your already living with your parents! your husband is going back to iraq. she is so selfish and i am disgusted that she would do such a thing. and my question is how are they going to afford it? and i feel bad for those kids they most likely wont have the greatest life unless TLc picks them which i don't think that they deserve it honestly.

  Today on Good Morning America, Michelle and Jim Bob announced their 19th is on the way. Meredith Vieira said congrats and then asked Anna how she is feeling and to me it seemed like Michelle acted as if Anna was "stealing her spotlight". Even in Anna's responses to Merediths questions, she addressed Michelle as "Mrs.Duggar". I don't know about any of you all, but I call my Mother in Law by her first name. Just seems like Anna is not well liked by the "Original Duggar's".
  
  Answer:-I didn't call my mother in law much of ANYTHING the first 6 years of marriage, only started last year after 7 years and now that we've hit 8 I filed for divorce from her abusive son.

  I enjoy watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 as well as 17 Kids and Counting. I think the difference in the personality of Kate Gosselin and Michelle Duggar is interesting.

  I relate better to Kate Gosselin. I admire Michelle Duggar's patience, but I don't think I could keep it together all the time like she appears to..lol.
  
  Answer:-I too, love both of the shows, and admire BOTH moms for what they do!! I feel I can better relate to Kate's parenting styles....and they keep it real for the camera's. However, Im not saying that Michelle is not keeping it real. As she is! They are the way they are, as they are deeply religious, and thats what they base their family values on. I dont think she's taking her children to the thrift store because they cant afford it, but simply because there's more to life than name brand clothing, and trying to fit in! I take my children to thrift shops, as well as I have enough pride to shop in them myself...and my family isnt struggling. Its just that materialistic crap doesnt mean anything to me. So I can relate to her better that way! I think they both are very patient loving moms, and I admire them both, because no way could I handle more than the 3 Im about to have!

  i had noooo idea she was having her 19th?! where was i....wowow
  anyways...she was supposed to hav her kid march 18th but instead had it like december 11th...it was only 25 weeks old. they were afraid the kid was going to have mental problems or complications because having a baby this early usually results in severe problems. i read theirs an 82% chance the baby will be fine...i havnt heard anything so far on the condition of the child but i think its ok since it hasnt hit big news tht its retarded or dead or anything like tht...but who knows. btw the childs name is Josie Brooklyn :)

  I don't care to hear peoples opinions on if what they are doing is right or wrong....just what she is risking health wise? How would that many kids affect her body?
  
  Answer:-every pregnancy comes with health risks whether it is your first or 19th. so obviously each time she gets pregnant she faces all of the "normal" risks.
  the baby she just had a few days ago was delivered by cesarean and i am pretty sure it was not her first c-section. having multiple c-sections can cause a lot of scar tissue and then complications from that. otherwise there's no risk that i know of from just being pregnant a lot. you are supposed to wait at least 6 months (probably varies based on who you ask) between pregnancies so your body can heal and the older you get the riskier the pregnancies become.
  but again, i am pretty sure that just being pregnant a lot does not negatively affect a woman's health.

  Well, in a purely human logic sense, I do think it's a bit much and worry about her health. But knowing their beliefs on having as many children as God is willing to give them I am not shocked and would expect them to do nothing less. I mean, you don't get 18 kids by saying, hmmmm I think we'll shoot for 18 and stop. They said, we will leave it to God, period. That doesn't mean they stop having sex, doesn't mean they change their mind when God gives'em too much, it just means they'll leave it to God. You don't renig on your beliefs midway through...even if they don't make good sense to other people.

  They do prenatal testing. We've seen a million ultrasound visits and doctor visits. Maybe you are talking about the amnio test. I'm in agreement with that. From what I understand it doesn't fix anything, they just tell you if your child is likely to have Down's Syndrome and that gives you the chance to abort him or her before they are born. If you KNOW you wouldn't abort your child what's the point in having that test? If you are talking about some other tests, I dunno. I didn't realize they skipped the health checkup parts.
  
  
  Do you think it's a good idea to have a large family?
  
  For some, I do. It's up to them and God. My only concern ever with these folks or those like them is that they are truly caring for, loving and protecting their children adequately. And of course, you can't tell that by watching t.v. no matter how close to 'reality' it's supposed to be. Assuming no one or 3 people (most likely the oldest girls) are being overburdened by family chores and that everyone is happy and healthy, I think large families are great.

  I've got 1 and that works for me, lol. If God wanted me to have more, that would be fine too. But I don't know that I'm an 18 kid kind of girl. I'm not disciplined enough. I know that already.

  Answer:-They wind up having at least 20-22 kids before she hits menopause! They are just nuts. And they are in this little world all of their own, it is really creepy I think. They are all homeschooled too - do those kids socialize with anyone besides their own siblings? Of course, Discovery Health and TLC just love to play up the Duggars and now keep showing other families just like that on "Kids by the Dozen". Some people thinks the Gosselins are nuts having 8 kids (though it was really only 2 pregnancies), but these people just keep having more and more. Their monthly grocery bill is probably more than my mortgage!!

  The father of the Duggar family said that he believes it's not a womans place to go to college. Instead, a woman is to be a stay at home mom, not to become a career woman.

  Answer:-The Duggar are just odd to me. Yet, I love watching their show. Personally, I think 18 children is too many. I work in a school based setting with about 20 children. It's difficult to give 20 children all the attention they need, all the time. I could only imagine what it's like raising 18 children. A few of them have to feel as though they are being ignored.
  
  I mean, just watch Jon and Kate Plus 8. On a few of the episodes, they made it a point to bring each child out for their very own, private day with mom and dad. That way, they got one on one attention and a chance to be an individual.
  
  I don't think the Duggars are getting that. I'm glad they have strong faith and family values. But, they just seem a bit outdated. I just don't see any of those children living outside the little community that's been established for them in Arkansas. They will marry and associate with people solely like them for the rest of their lives. They could never move up North or out West, I just don't think they'd fit in or every be mainstreamed into a different area of the country.
  
  I love Jon and Kate Plus 8. Kate's a little much for me sometimes. She needs to relax. I like Jon, he's understand what battles to pick with the kids. He gets that kids are just going to be kids sometimes.

  Answer:-Who in the heck are we to judge a family who has a lot of children? When did we get so high and mighty we have to pass judgment on a loving and supportive family unit. The Duggars may not live a "normal" American life, but is that really so bad? They live debt free, did you know that? How many Americana's do you know who live debt free? I don't and I don't have ANY kids. They are frugal, they are good money managers, they have taught their children responsibility!!! And no, they don't "make" their kids do chores and force them into a life of servant-hood, the kids WANT to help because that's what family is all about. Our world has become so kid centered that we have forgotten what parenting is all about, teaching responsibility. Too many people are speaking out of school about the Duggar family. Their kids are healthy, educated, respectful, well mannered, loving, family centered children! If only everyone in America would take care of the 2 or 3 kids they have as well as the Duggars do then the world would be a better place in my opinion!!

How can you give proper love and attention to that many kids? How do you give comfort to one who's sick or read bedtime stories?

My family has 14 kids (we would of had 16 kids if it wasn't for my 2 brothers passing away). 8 of us are adopted, but still. Nobody makes our lives miserable because of it. So why do you, when typing the Duggar family into google, find hundreds of websites saying how stupid and irresponsible they are. Not to mention the names they get called. I mean, leave them alone, they aren't hurting you (and don't even begin to give me that crap about how the world is overpopulated).   Answer:-Actually, the people in the US complaining about overpopulation apparently don't know how to read. Once the baby boomers start kicking off, we will approach negative replacement. Meaning, more people will be dying than being born. I think your parents rock!!!! Adopting 8 blessings, making a complete family from broken shards, your family kicks *ss!!! My own relatives criticise me for wanting more and I have three beautiful kids. 9 out of 10 people are inherently stupid. If you and I aren't stupid, that means we're going to run into18 idiots today.

  Okay with that so many kids around, shouldn't one of those kids be an atheist, or liberal, or just have opposite view then there families?   Answer:-Possibly, but not necessarily.

  It seems like gloried overpopulation to me, and being supported how? Well, I suppose if you get enough viewers to buy into that kind of junk. But it's discovery health channel. I enjoy the ER shows and stuff. What does having a big family have to do with anything more than being wasteful, just like that crazy woman in California who already had six kids and just had octuplets, and I hope there are no hand-outs because these people make choices.
  
  Answer:-no it's not. they have commercial rental properties (and they say this in the opening credits sequence on every show) and they own property that has a cell tower that a few different companies rent. they are very wise with their spending and have no debt. the house and land are paid for, so all they really have as expenses are the utilities (and they designed the house to be very efficient and inexpensive to maintain), food, clothing, and fuel. while food may be a couple thousand dollars a month, the others aren't near that much so i'm sure their monthly bills are less than $5000. with 17 kids at home, including a few teenage boys (aka bottomless pits). that's not bad. and it's not hard to maintain with the income from the sources i listed, not to mention they did write a book and get income from that. the family came into the national eye when michelle was named young mother of the year in arkansas (they might have been on tv before this, but i don't think so). they supported themselves for all those years before any of the shows, when they had 14 kids and before. they've been self-sufficient since their oldest was very young.
  and having a big family isn't any more wasteful than having a small one, as a matter of fact i bet they "waste" less than the average family considering they buy everything used (recycle old stuff no one else wants so new products don't have to be made for them) and have no debt.
