• Question:-Where can I find prints of the photographs that Annie takes in the lobster scene in Annie Hall?
  The photographs are of Alvy, holding up the lobsters. There are multiple shots. You can see them hanging in the scene when Alvy is in Annie's apartment, before he tries to kill the spider.
  
  Answer:-I'm answering just because no one else has. It is very unlikely you will find such a thing. The photos were used in the set, and are either long gone and / or buried in some storage crate somewhere in a warehouse at United Artists. It is also not very likely that "Annie" actually took those photos. They were probably taken by another photographer and not actually taken when Annie and Alvy were together in the kitchen.
  
  About all I would know to do is start trying to contact United Artists studios and / or everything you can find to do with movie memorabilia.

  I know that apple annie was a homeless elderly woman that always gave the suit guy an apple, he wouldn't make a decision unless he got his apple. Apple Annie had a daughter (Ann Margaret-character portrayed by her) and she was coming over on a ship because she was marrying I think it was someone of royalty. Anyway the lead actor got all the street people and his henchman to portray very prominent people, I believe they portrayed Apple Annie as a Duchess and she was married in the script to one of the henchman simply they were trying to help Apple Annie pull off a scam to her daughter; in other words once her daughter (Ann Margaret) got back on the boat things would go back to normal. I do not recall the actor that played the main character, the one that needed the apple a day. It was definitely an old black and white movie and mostly was played around Christmas, I think.

  I have recently been chosen to be the first violin in the orchestra pit for Fiddler on the Roof. I have not received any music yet and would really like to get a head start. Where can I find the sheet music online (free), just for that first solo at the beginning of the play?
  
  Answer:-Since 'Fiddler on the Roor' is a copyrighted work, you probably won't find any part of the score free. And even if you do, there's no guarantee that what you will get will bear any resemblence to the score that you will be using for your production.
  
  Your best be is to nag your music director until he or she makes the score avaialble to you.
• Question:-What are some good monologues for fiddler on the roof audition?
  My high school is doing fiddler on the roof and I want to audition for Golde. It needs to be one minute. I also need to have a song. Recently I've been working on Look to the Rainbow from Finians rainbow. Would that be a good song?
  
  Answer:-Don't do 'Look to the Rainbow". Pick a song that will make you look good for the character you are trying out for. I say this because Sharon (who sings 'Look to the Rainbow') is a soprano role, while Golde is a mezzo. If you want a good mezzo song look for one from Les Miserables, Meet Me in St. Louis, Anything Goes, Annie Get your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Millie or Hello Dolly. All of those have female leads with mezzo parts. Also, don't pick a sweet song for Golde. She isn't sweet at all. Good Luck!

  Answer:-Last time I did that show, the fiddler climbed up a stairway built into the back of the set and sat or stood on a platform just behind the "roof" of a house at the back of the stage.

  Answer:-It's good. It's a little slower, and the style is far more...traditional. I prefer Singing in the Rain for its upbeat style. But both are very clean and appropriate.

  Answer:-Anything from that era of musicals. Carousel, Sound of Music, King & I, State Fair, South Pacific, Etc...
  
  Most of those classic musicals have at least one song in them that will closely resemble the song sung by the character you want to be cast for. Know what role you want and find the relating song in the other show and sing that. Also, don't fret if someone else ends up singing the same song. Just take note not to sing it in the exact same way with the same gestures and inflections as they did. Sing it in the way you practiced it.
  
  It's typical for several actors to sing the same song when auditioning for a classic musical. It just happens. What you don't want to do, is sing something from Phantom because it is way out of your age range and isn't appropriate for Fiddler or to sing something from a newer show like Hairspray because it is a completely different style.

  I am planning on trying out for chava in a production of fiddler on the roof, and i was wondering what vocoal part does she have. I am a second soprano so does that mean my voice is to high for that part?
  
  Answer:-Chava is actually considered a mezzo soprano by most, I think. (Which is pretty much a second soprano.) She sings in Matchmaker, so you can download that to see if you can sing it. She also needs to be an adequate dancer, if that matters.

  Answer:-they are in almost every scene, and 6 songs.
• Question:-Where can I find the Reed 2 (clarinet) orchestra part for Fiddler on The Roof?
  I would really like the orchestra part, not some solo book to Fiddler on the Roof. Where are we able to purchase just the clarinet or reed 2 orchestration.
  
  Answer:-You're going to have to contact the licensing agency that handles the show. That would be one of the following: Dramtists' Play Service, Samuel French, or Rodgers and Hammerstein. Google, and then figure out the purchase price (it might come expensively).
  
  Another possibility: if you live near where a full-orchestra production of Fiddler was done in recent memory, the producing company might have retained the parts. Call them and see if you can photocopy (which would be fair use if you're doing it for personal study).

  Answer:-There are two large roles for adult females and three large roles for young women in Fiddler On the Roof.
  The largest of the adult roles is Golde, Tevye's wife. She is somewhat stern and very no-nonsense. She sings most notably in "Do You Love Me." The other large adult role is Yente, the matchmaker. The only time she really sings is in a song called "Topsy Turvy." Yente is very much a "character."
  
  The three roles for young women are three sisters, Tzeitel, Hodel, and Chava. The three share the song "Matchmaker," which also features their two younger sisters, Schprintze and Bielke very briefly.
  Tzeitel is the oldest of the sisters. She is in love with Motel, a poor tailor who is her childhood sweetheart. Tzeitel does not sing very much, but it is still a large role.
  Hodel is the second oldest. She falls in love with Perchik, a revolutionary from Kiev. When he goes to Siberia and is arrested Hodel follows him. In addition to her part in "Matchmaker" she sings "Far From The Home I Love." Her character and love story are the most developed of the three featured sisters.
  Chava is the next youngest. She sings in "Matchmaker." Chava falls in love with a Gentile named Fyedka and they eventually elope, which causes Tevye, her father, to disown her outwardly, although inwardly he still loves her deeply.

• Question:-Footloose?!?
  I'm a 16 year old, 5'9, 145 pounds, athletic. I have a baritone deep voice, and im a very strong actor. My dancing isn't that good, and my voice can't go that high at all. What part should i go out for in footloose?
  
  Answer:-I was in that show a year ago!! I got to play Areil!! It was so much fun, you'll have a blast!!
  
  I would say go for Chuck or perhaps Reverend Shaw. Chuck is supposed to be really tough, attractive, and he sings a fun and sexy song with Ariel. You can have a lot of fun being a jerk in that role.
  
  Reverend Shaw has a big role and two different songs he sings by himself. He does go moderately high, so perhaps you shouldn't set your hopes on him. But this is definately something to strive for. If you've ever seen Beauty and the Beast, his voice is like the Beast's.
  
  Willard would also be a SUPER fun role! You'd get to sing one song that you can just southern twang your way through. He has some really funny things he gets to do too, which would be fabulous if you'r a great actor.

  My school is doing footloose for the fall musical and I was wondering what cowboy bob's role was. Including any songs, dance routines, and any other specifics.
  
  Answer:-Cowboy Bob is a small role in the first scene of the second act. The main four characters have gone to a bar, and Cowboy Bob tries to steal Rusty from Willard to dance with her. It's not a big role, but if played right, can be a memorable one.
• Question:-What should I get my fellow Footloose cast members as gifts?
  I'm Ariel in our upcoming production of Footloose and I have no idea what to get the other cast members. I want something small and inexpensive to get for everyone, and then something a little more to give to my friends and other main people in the cast. Any suggestions?
  
  Answer:-You aren't obligated to get the whole cast anything, but if you choose to get something, I would get the same thing for everyone, regardless of their role - anything else will hurt feelings. The easiest (and least odd) thing to do would be to go get some discount Halloween candy and make goodie bags to put on everyone's station. You can put it in something or include something that has to do with the show. (For example, when I was in a childrens' show, we got candy and one of those little plastic kids' kaleidoscope things in a Masin jar.)

  My friend and I want to sing a duet at a fundraiser TOMORROW. We want to sing "Learning to be Silent" from the musical Footloose, but we're having the hardest time finding sheet music. I've called several of my friends, one of which has a sister who is touring with 25th Annunal Putnam County Spelling Bee and even SHE doesn't have the sheet music! Anyone know where I can get some either for free or for a very low price?
  
  Answer:-Best source is www.colonymusic.com. Their store is ON Broadway in NYC. The old guys who work there know EVERYTHING. You might need to buy the vocal collection - I doubt if this is so obscure or minor in the show that you would need the entire vocal *score*.

  Answer:-Having played Ren in a production of Footloose, I feel like "Can't Stand Still," is a great song from the actual show. Verses and choruses aren't that difficult to do, but there's a part at the end that goes into high falsetto for guys, ending with a James Brown-esque section of "no's." That could really show off a falsetto.
  
  But if you're looking for something more ballad-y, you can always try "Almost Paradise." That's a good one from the show. If you're allowed to audition with songs outside of the show, I've always liked "Make Them Hear You," from Ragtime.
