penn state board of trustees

  • Question:-Can someone please post the phone numbers to any members of the Penn State board of trustees?
I would like to tell them what I think about their decision. I am in CA and I can't stand by while a legend is thrown under the bus.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Joe Pa thrown under the bus by the board. Doesn't this remind you or the mortgage mess?
Those who created the problems and were responsible for it, throw an employee under the bus. Penn State board of trustees decision is identical to the governments handling of the mortgage crisis....reward those responsible with golden parachutes and killing off those that encouraged competition and had nothing to do with the problems they created.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Was Joe Paterno partially responsible for not following through w/the child sexabuse cases he was notified of?
The Penn State Board of Trustees just fired him.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-How does a University hierarchy work?
So far we've gotten a clear, disgusting display of the order of operations in a University...

    - Janitor, who is below
    - Janitor's dad, who is below
    - Head Coach, who is below
    - Athletic Director, who is below
    - University President, who is below
    - Board of Trustees

    Is there one supreme power?

Hypotheticlly, say a scandal came across a campus where the Board of Trustees has been embezzling money or commiting a crime, or whatever.

The campus government seems like an oligarchy right now!

BQ: Penn State is PO'd!!! Holy crap! Riots in down town! Will there be violence and riots at the game Saturday??
    -
BQ2: Do you agree with the Board's unanimous decision?

BQ3: Are you listening to the press conference? It sounds like students are asking questions, and THEY ARE PISSED.
BQ4: Did you hear that student as the conference ended? He shouted out, "That's f***ing insane!"
See, I do agree with the board... The best interest of the football team must be ignored here... Young lives were permanently altered, and everything and everyone even the tinyest bit involved MUST be removed immidiately.

penn state

  • Question:-Penn state?
What would you consider the best branch campus of penn state and why? im applying for main but if i dont get in, i probably am still going to go there. thanks for the help/suggestions!

Answer:-I'm a sophomore at Altoona. Honestly, I love it SO much. It's only an hour from main campus so the option of attending games is always there.

This campus is beautiful any time of the year. The classes are smallish (my largest [the Gen-Eds] are about 80 kids) and the professors actually care about us.

I adore it here, definitely consider PSU Altoona, and feel free to contact me with any questions :)

Oh, BTW--I'm from NJ, but I still feel right at home and comfortable at PSUA.
  • Question:-Penn State?
im a junior in high school, and im looking into colleges. i was on the Penn State website, but it doesnt specify if i can get a degree in interior design (and fashion if possible). Does anyone know if Penn State offers degrees in those?

Answer:-It doesn't look like Penn state offers an Interior Design degree. However, the following schools in Pennsylvania do:

Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts - York
The Art Institute of Philadelphia - Philadelphia
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh
    Arcadia University - Glenside
    Drexel University - Philadelphia
    Harcum College - Bryn Mawr
    La Roche College - Pittsburgh
    Marywood University - Scranton
Moore College of Art & Design - Women's Art and Design College - Philadelphia
    Philadelphia University - Philadelphia
  • Question:-penn state?
what are the the required scores for the sat and act for penn state college?
    ya Penn State U

Answer:-You mean Penn State University? We're a university, not a college. What are your current SAT scores? You're going to need high SAT scores if you want to get onto Main Campus. If you have lower SATs you'll probably get an offer acceptance at a branch campus, then you'll transfer to Main in about 2 years.
  • Question:-How does the Penn state football team travel to away games in other states?
When the Penn state football team travels to away games how do they get there? Is it by plane or bus?

    Answer:-mostly by airplane
  • Question:-Is it possible to reapply to a different Penn State campus after already applying to another?
I recently sent in my application and set Penn State Berks as my primary choice and the University Park as my alternate. I thought I wanted to go to Berks for sure, but I'm thinking I might as well take advantage of my good grades in high school, and try to go to University Park.

I already paid the enrollment fees, and have accepted Penn State's offer. Is it possible to try and switch yet? Or is it too late?

Answer:-It's not too late until classes start.. your enrollment fees will vary from college to college as refundable.. each probably has a cutoff date to cancel the enrollment, check with the college administration... only they may know that answer..doesn't hurt to ask
  • Question:-How does a sorority at penn state purchase a house/senior house?
I read that it would potentially be possible for a sorority to purchase a house at penn state and use that instead of living on the floor and having a suite. I was just curious if there is any truth to it.

Answer:-There are no actual brothel laws ANYWHERE. Anyone who says there are, is just repeating old rumors. See source.

There are no brothel laws at Penn State, but there are zoning restrictions on land. From The Collegian archive; http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/10/10-07-03tdc/10-07-03dnews-01.asp

Talk to your house corporation board, they will know if there is any way for you to get official sorority housing. If you getting a house would make you the only sorority with a house, Panhellenic will have a problem with it. Dues will go up if you get a house.

To circumvent all the issues (and get a house quickly) have a few sisters get together and rent a house. Work around the zoning restrictions. You won't get the official sorority house designation, but you can hold sisterhood events there.
  • Question:-How good do you think Penn State football will be next season?
I was wondering your opinion on how well penn state will do, and how far they would make, and how high would they rank, stuff like that. Also please tell me how big our chances are at getting Terrelle Pryor if you can. Thanks!
Also maybe how big is the chance we install the spread with Daryl clark and/or Terrelle pryor?

Answer:-not very good and also not very bad. They need to hire new coach.
  • Question:-What is Penn State looking for in the personal statement?
It's only 1200 characters! How do I fit anything into that? My introduction is 808 characters already.
Anyone know any sites with examples of penn state personal statements? Or better, personal experience with writing it?

Answer:-Yeah you're going to want to cut that intro down hun! They get tens of thousands of applications yearly, so it takes a long time to read anything. Basically, have a short intro introducing yourself, explain a few qualities about yourself in the body (using real world examples) and then wrap it up with a nice little conclusion. Short and sweet is the way to go! Keep it basic but also make sure you can get your points across and make your personality shine through, and you will be fine!
  • Question:-What type of personality do you have to have to go to penn state main and fit in?
What type of personality do you have to have to go to penn state main and fit in?
What kind of personality gets into Penn State Main? Like, when they were in high school, what were they like? Or what were you like in high school (if you made it in)? Do the shy kids make a reputation there? Or are most of the penn state main students partiers from the start?

    Answer:-there is no such thing

    evryone is different
  • Question:-What campus at Penn State should I go to?
I'm a junior in high school, and once I graduate, I was planning on going to community college for a year or two so it won't be as expensive. From there, I was planning on going to Penn State (of course, if I'm accepted) and I want to major in Astronomy and minor in Physics.

I just don't know what campus to go to? I'm planning on going to that campus for two years, and then going to University Park for my Junior and Senior years.

But what campus should I go to for my Freshman and Sophomore years?

Answer:-I, too, don't understand the math and why you're planning for 6 years to complete your bachelor's degree. But assuming you start at a Penn State branch and end up at main campus, you're best bet is to attend a branch that has a bachelor's degree in Physics and/or Astronomy. Otherwise, there may not be many physics or astronomy courses available for you to take before transferring to University Park.

I searched the PSU website for branches that have Astronomy or Physics baccalaureate programs and found only Penn State Erie (The Behrend College) with a listing of Physics as a major. In fact, I don't see Physics listed at University Park as an available major, either, but perhaps there's an explanation for that. As for Astronomy, only University Park appears to have this available, and it is in conjunction with Astrophysics.

Of course, every branch will have plenty of gen eds to choose from. If your choice is based on campus location preference, I recommend Penn State Harrisburg. I earned my master's degree there and I really like that campus for its location, its proximity to a pleasant but not remote surrounding area, and its active campus life. I also like Penn State Altoona and Penn State Berks; Altoona is close to State College, which is a nice feature, and Berks is just a pretty campus.

If money is the only factor (and you're not going to a community college), I will point out that the tuition difference between Harrisburg/Berks/Altoona/Erie and University Park is only about $1700 per semester right now, or approximately $3400 a year. If attending any other branch campus (other than the graduate schools at Great Valley, Hershey, and Dickinson), the tuition difference is more like $2200 a semester.

I hope all of this helps! And go Penn State! :)

  • Question:-How would i get to penn state main campus from penn state altoona?
i am a freshman at penn state altoona and i want to know how far is it away from penn state main campus. How do you get there too?

Answer:-To get to I-99 you have two options, depending on if you want to get there fast or a nice scenic route beforehand.

    The scenic route to I-99

Turn right on Juniata Gap Road, follow that to Avalon Road, take Avalon Road to where it ends at 18th street and turn left, you will see a lot of woods, urban clusters of old houses, and a farm, while feeling like you are in the city but outside of it at the same time, follow that as you go into the city, and eventually into the downtown where it becomes Union Avenue, Broad Avenue, 24th Street, Union Avenue again, and eventually Frankstown Road. Soon after it becomes Union Avenue again, you'll exit the downtown area. Take the exit from Frankstown Road to go north on I-99.

    The quick route to I-99

Turn left on Juniata Gap Road, take that to Chestnut Avenue, turn right on Chestnut Avenue, follow that and stay on it as it becomes 10th Avenue, take the 10th Avenue Expressway to 17th Street. Take 17th Street to its end and turn left and get on I-99.

    Once on I-99

Follow I-99 until you get to Atherton Street, then turn onto there and go into State College. The traditional way is to take Old 220 to 322 before turning to Atherton Street.

The exact distance is 37 miles if I remember right.

rutgers

  • Question:-Rutgers............................?
What does Rutgers expect one's GPA to be right out of high school? What must one's GPA be to get accepted? I tried looking it up, but could not find info on GPA. Thanks

Answer:-The GPA varies depending on which campus you wish to start at and whether or not you are getting in with a certain program. Additionally, Rutgers looks at applications on a holistic measure - meaning they don't look only at the GPA, but what other factors contribute to a GPA.

For Rutgers New Brunswick I believe the GPA is around a 3.0 or 3.2. Newark and Camden are less but you can usually transfer to New Brunswick later. Again, however, it's very possible to get in with a lower GPA if you have a lot of activities that you are part of or if your school doesn't weight the GPA (Rutgers reweights the GPA for you).

    Good luck!
  • Question:-rutgers ?
r we allowed 2 email rutgers 2 ask questions about admissions

Answer:-I would call them. I have have tried email, but it takes weeks sometimes until you here from them. I have called lots of schools, and they're usually very nice. They won't mind, because its the admissions job to help future students. Good Luck!
  • Question:-How can I establish or start NROTC at Rutgers University?
I just transferred into Rutgers like many people do from other universities or county colleges. I want to eventually be an officer in the Navy but sadly the opportunities here at Rutgers are very slim when it comes to the Navy. Rutgers is only affiliated with the Army and Air Force, not the Navy. .How can I, a normal student, push the school or the Armed Forces, to consider NROTC at Rutgers University? Has anyone attempted this at their school? What was the outcome?

Answer:-Other students as well as the Navy are trying to re-establish Nrotc at Rutgers.
    http://nbfc.rutgers.edu/year09_10/NBFCROTCRepEdit.pdf
Also at Columbia, Yale, Harvard and Brown which tossed Nrotc off campus in the late 60's/early 70's.

How does the application process work? I have written my letter and i have my SAT score. What else do i need to apply and what else do i need to send them?

    I want to apply online

  • Question:-What exactly does Rutgers University look for in acceptance from transfer students?
I'm a third year college student looking to transfer to Rutgers University yet I'm wondering what they look for before they make their decision. My GPA is 2.9 and yet there were 3-4 courses I didn't do well and I retook. To those that have transferred directly from a college to Rutgers University, what do they look for within your transcripts? Is is possible that they will accept someone one failed four courses yet retook them and did better?

Answer:-Most of the time it is more difficult to transfer credits to Rutgers because they have a strict criteria. I knew a couple of transfers to Rutgers NB who did well in other colleges, but a lot of their classes were not accepted by Rutgers due to strict standards. Most of the transfers stayed another year to complete requirements. The possibility of being accepted also depends which campus you are applying for. Newark and Camden are easier to get in than New Brunswick campus.

It is highly unlikely that Rutgers will allow a transcript with 4 failed into the school. And even if they did, it is rare that the courses will count towards your graduation credits.
  • Question:-What area is safe and bad near Rutgers Newark? How safe is the public transit station to NYC at RN?
I am about to accept admission to Rutgers Newark. I want am debating whether I should live near campus (which if it is unsafe and ghetto i won't) or live in NYC and take public transit into Rutgers. I understand it is a commuter school, but I do not know how safe the campus is. I will be there at night with my girlfriend and I want to know how safe the public transit from Newark to NYC is. If it is as dangerous as living near Rutgers Newark I would probably just live near the campus.

Answer:-pay no attention to any one on this/go monday night and drive area/do this afew nights in a row/the cops are hot in this area/dont try irvington at all/complete anarchy at night/try going up 21 for living in belville or nutley/or further up to clifton etc/bus service is available to north cities/even kearney is ok/check the kids around there/they will confirm this
  • Question:-Who thinks Rutgers should get a shot for the natl title if they are unbeaten at the end of the year?
I Like this rutgers team. Ray Rice is a absolute beast who could (and maybe should) win the Heisman trophy. But more important to this team than Rice's performance so far (we already expected this from rice) is quarterback Mike Teel. He is lighting it up this year. You turn on Sportscenter all you see is Teel to Underwood, who, by the way, is all-american wideout. That defense is solid too.

TO ME, They are the most talented team on both sides of the ball besides LSU. Which leads me to my point. They can beat West Virginia (who is overrated to me; no defense) and Louisville (again no defense). If they are undefeated at the end of this season, DO THEY DESERVE A SHOT AT THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?
Chris 10...i'm not a Rutgers fan i was just asking this question because they seem to be playing really well.

Answer:-If they're one of 2 undefeated teams, then yes they should play for the National Title. If they are one of a group of 3 or more undefeated teams (USC, LSU and Oklahoma all have a chance to win out) then Rutgers wouldn't fit in the National Title picture. The schedule they play just isn't up to par - even with WVU and Louisville - because as you said those teams are overrated.
  • Question:-How much more work can i expect at Rutgers vs a community college?
Just wondering since i'm about to transfer to Rutgers from Brookdale. How many more hours of work should i expect to have to do per/day in order to maintain my current 3.5 gpa if i keep the same marketing major.

Answer:-A lot. No one can tell you for sure how many hours more you'll be working. It depends on your major, classes, study habits, intelligence, etc. But I'll tell you one thing that's for sure- Rutgers has a great business school, and it's a great school overall. Expect to do a lot of work, much more than a community college, especially for a marketing major. A's are hard to come by at RU, and you really do need to work for them. Having said that, Rutgers is a great school, and if you do well, you'll be rewarded. Good luck!
  • Question:-Can I transfer to rutgers business school new Brunswick after one yr in county college?
I am a freshman at county college and I want to transfer to rutgers. Is it possible for me to transfer into the business school (new Brunswick) after finishing my freshman year? Or would I have to do one year at sas and then apply to the business school?

Answer:-Probably not. While you can transfer to Rutgers with a minimum of 12 transferable units, you need to complete 6 required courses (see link below) before you can be admitted to their business school. I have no idea what "sas" is so I can't answer that part of your question. If you choose to take the required courses at some place other than Rutgers, makes sure the classes will be accepted by Rutgers first.
