mls cup

  • Question:-Is the MLS Cup or US Open Cup more important in America?
Which Soccer Cup is more important in the US, the MLS Cup or the US Open Cup? I know that more than just MLS teams play for the US Open Cup, but I was just wondering which one was a bigger deal to the players and fans.

Answer:-The MLS Cup; it's the main league, usually just called the MLS. If you watch English soccer, the MLS Cup is the Premier League and the U.S. Open Cup is the FA Cup.
  • Question:-Agree with my reason why I think us Americans will watch the World Cup and not MLS?
The reason is because there is emotion in the World cup game and its a higher level of competition. Plus not enough comes on during the World Cup that would distract us from the Cup. While as MLS is just completely boring to watch, the level of competition compared to the rest of the world is shady, and they have to compete with the NFL,NBA,NHL, and MLB. Really would you want to watch the MLS Cup or whatever its called over the Super Bowl?

Answer:-I agree with the idea that the level of competition is higher when talking about the World Cup as opposed to MLS, but I don't agree with the distractions. It think mostly now it's more haivng to work past the stigma that soccer somehow isn't a real sport, or a sport for wimps, and the perceptions that the MLS and U.S. soccer in itself is crap, and people won't watch until they can get themselves past that. Finally, I don't think people watch because Americans have this idea that something has to be better than something else, so if you're an American Football fan, then that's the best sport in the world and everything else doesn't matter. Problem is that the soccer season does happen while other sports are going on, but there doesn't have to be a distractive aspect to anything: people watch basketball and American Football at the same time without reservation, but for some reason they don't think they can watch soccer at the same time as well. Again, ultimately I think that people don't watch soccer in this country because of the attitude and nothing else. The idea of distractions is just an excuse. Beyond this, though, I also really believe that there is an undercurrent of superiority about other sports. Really, the U.S. can say we're the best at things like American Football because there's no competition from anywhere else to say otherwise. People can rest assured that they are the best in the world at that sport. When it comes to soccer, that isn't the case. Americans like the feeling that they are the best at whatever it is, they're secure when they know they are, and because they aren't when it comes to soccer, they poo-poo it because they are insecure knowing they aren't. It can't be a real sport if they aren't the best in the world. We can say that about the other sports because thus far we haven't had much in the way of competition (especially basketball because the U.S. tends to completely humiliate other countries during the Olympics); that makes us feel REALLY good. I think once you look at these factors, you start seeing the real reasons why we don't like soccer, and don't watch it in droves, even the World Cup.
  • Question:-Do you think the Houston Dynamo will win the 2008 MLS Cup?
The Houston Dynamo has beat the New England Revelation twice in a row. Winning the MLS Cup in 2006 and in 2007.

Answer:-Dynamo is a dynasty. I see no reason why they won't win 2008. The onyl problem is they lost Cochrane in the back line, which could hurt them. Revs are unlucky, but they only have three dominant players, while Dynamo have DDR. Nice final in November and I think Dynamo can get a third in row.
  • Question:-Is the MLS Supporters Shield more prestigious than the MLS Cup?
A few weeks ago, Red Bull New York coach Hans Backe said that the MLS Cup is a mini-tournament, and a crapshoot, whereas the Supporters' Shield is the real league title.

What do you think. Do you strive for your team to win the regular season (Supporters Shield) or the playoffs (MLS Cup)?

Answer:-Nope. The MLS Cup is more prestigious. You don't get a champsshirt for the shield do you?
  • Question:-Is the MLS Cup the same or similar to the FA Cup?
I'm new to the MLS in terms of fandom (NEW YORK RED BULLS ALL DAY!!!!) so I am not very knowledgeable on the various aspects of the league. Is the end of season MLS cup similar to the English FA Cup?

    Answer:-no
  • Question:-What two Teams do you want to see in the MLS Cup and who do you thinks going to win the Supporter's Shield.?
I want the Houston Dynamo And Columbus Crew in the MLS Cup with Houston winning MLS Cup and
shield. Excluding Redbulls, FC Dallas, San Jose, and Kansas City.

Answer:-i want to see DC United and Dynamo in the mls cup final, and i want to see Chivas USA vs LA Galaxy for the supporters shield
  • Question:-MLS: Cup Winner and an MVP...What else do they get other than a Cup/Trophy?
I was wondering...do they award Cash Prize to the winner for the MLS Cup also? I know they got a medal and trophy...
Also what did the MVP win other than a trophy?

Answer:-This is just my best guess, but if I recall correctly, there is a small cash prize for winning the Cup, and the MVP gets a new car from the sponsoring company.
  • Question:-DC United fans, do you still plan to attend the MLS Cup even though your team has been eliminated?
I heard they sold over 30,000 tickets for the championship match already, but I wonder how many were United fans hoping to see their team. Do you expect attendance to slip for that match, or are you still planning on going despite the fact that the Fire sent you home packing a little earlier than planned?

Answer:-I am still going no dought!!!
  • Question:-Pando Ramirez's second goal of the season gave the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-0 MLS Cup win in 2005 vs. what socce
Pando Ramirez's second goal of the season gave the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-0 MLS Cup win in 2005 vs. what soccer team?

    Answer:-New England Revolution
  • Question:-Do the Colombus Crew have the talent to win the MLS cup?
They are doing amazing this year, especially compared to the last few years.

Answer:-definitely.since guzan left the MLS will hesmer is hands down the best goalie in the MLS.robbie rogers is one of the best young talents in all the MLS and schelotto is no joke either.

they have the fastest midfield in the league.they can out hustle any team in the MLS.

x factor results

  • Question:-Same difference miming on x factor results show?
Is it just me, or were Same Difference not singing on the x factor results show?? To me it looked like they were blatently miming...Not very good seeing as this is a talent show and no other act has ever mimed on it.

Answer:-I am an audio technician, they actually did lip sync extremely well, although there is no way they would jump up and down like that and sound so good....

biggest give away, was when they were getting interviewed afterward, did you hear the quality of those headset microphones?

in studios when recording they use pop sheilds, (view image below)

    http://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/356844075_bd014f2b7c.jpg?v=0

what we heard was a classic example of how a mic sounds without one (when they got interviewed at the end)

Also it was too obvious how it sounded, the sound quality was far superior to what anyone could get in a live performance, unless the sound engineer has GOD like tools behind the desk.......

recording sound and live sound is so much different.....i think we have established this.......

Melodyne is software which is pitch correction software for vocalists, they were even using this on the recording, i can spot it a mile off....

example here of how it works...

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8zeLKMHxbN8

ok well i hope this clears things up for you, YES they were miming.....quite sad actually.....this is were commercialism and a true talent show collide in such a way that commercialism will always win....

  • Question:-What was the dramatic intro music on X-Factor results show tonight?
When the judges came onto the stage tonight, there was a great piece of music used. I know it's not the usual one - O Fortuna - as that one is usually used during the performance shows, not the results show. This one was different, and I think it's also been performed by that girl group of violinists but I have no idea what the title is.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

Answer:-I thought tonight they walked on to Queens "another one bites the dust" ??!
  • Question:-Where was the dress from that Sophie Habibus wore on the X Factor results show last weekend?
it was a colour blocking green and black and white mini dress, fitted....she wore it on the results show, on sunday 9th october. I really wanna buy it!!

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Are you looking forward to the X Factor results show this Sunday?
For example, seeing Whitney Houston and Cheryl Cole perform?

    Answer:-Huh? Not really.
  • Question:-what does everyone think of the x factor results?
do you think it was all a fix? what do you think simon should of done?

Answer:-Total joke , why say you'll base your vote on that nights performance and then keep those two twats in !
  • Question:-Who are the special guests on X Factor results tonight?
    If there are any?

    Answer:-Joe McElderry & USHER (:
  • Question:-How nervous do you get when they do the X factor results?
    I get sooo nervous =P

    Answer:-
  • Question:-what happened in x factor live results 3?? How did Miss Frank get eliminated?
    Hey,
I kind of missed the show tonight but i was wondering HOW did Miss frank get eliminated???

Answer:-ARGH I know I don't get that either! I mean, Danyl and Miss Frank are amazing acts! And Miss Frank this week were stunning in their singing and outfits! What has got into the public? I mean WHY are John and Edward still in? They're absolute bollacks!!
Ha ha you can tell I get pretty worked up about this show :/ But I just think it's stupid that John and Edward are in, it's a singing competition and as entertaining as they may be, for the wrong reasons, they reaalllllllly need to go if we're starting to loss good acts like Miss Frank instead of them.
I blame Louis for putting them through. Stupid Irish.
  • Question:-can someone please tell me what the latest x factor results are?
Im in swissland and quite frankly the xfactor website is nt all that good for people who missed it.

and if you have any online links I will be very very happy.

Enkosi kakhulu (thank you very much)

Answer:-Alexandra, Eoghan and JLS are in the final !!
They left the pressure on the two left, which was Eoghan and Diana...and when Eoghan found out that Diana was going , everyone was in shock, especially Eoughan Quigg. I think there is something going on there haha!!
Anyway, hope this helps and your having a nice time in Swissland :)

    haha xx
  • Question:-What's ur say about the X-Factor results last night!?
I get annoyed by the results last night!
It's totally vague & unclear that Simon Coward, I mean 'Cowell' deadlocked the votes to publicity & had save those 2 idiots 'twins' losing the beautiful talented singer..

what's ur opinion with the show!?
Is it still a 'singing' competition or an entertainment show only??

Answer:-Apparently, I know that too many young people voted for this humorous Jedward cuz they consider them as 'entertainers'!! to the show that make it so funny..

Well, what's the point of watching this programme!?? As ITV states X-factor a 'SINGING' contest not a 'comedy dancing' show!

Honestly, the British Public had lost their consideration to it as a 'Professional Singing' Competition & now just regard it to a funny show.. This makes all POINTLESS! Jedward should've instead join the next Britain's Got Talent in 2010 cuz it's totally the TALENT show for all!!!!! They're utterly just digust the credibility of X-factor & ITV..

I personally think Simon saving those twat twins so that his acts would have saved & win..

malawi

  • Question:-I am going to Malawi, Africa to do independent volunteer work. How can I access cheap or free airfare?
I have worked in Malawi in the summer of 2004 and 2005 as a volunteer teacher with the Canadin Teachers Federation, Project Overseas. I stayed in Malawi for an additional 4.5 months in 2005 doing research on HIV/AIDS, death and bereavement. This lead me to work with an AIDS support group and also to establish an orphan care group. I am returning to work with these groups at the end of June, but have not been able to find any financial assistance to help me with travel expenses. My airline tickets are booked on my Visa Card. Surely there is an organization or someone who can help me offset the expense of travel. Please help.

  • Question:-How many lake malawi cichlids can i keep in a 55 gallon?
I plan on getting a 55 gallon and am going for the lake malawi theme. How many cichlids can i get?

Answer:-Depends on the type of cichlid and how aggressive they are. Also depends on the filtration. A lot of times it's recommended that you slightly overstock a cichlid tank so that they can't attempt to form territories.

In my 55 gallon tank with 545gph filtration and pristine conditions I have 12 Kenyi cichlids. I have 2 males and 10 females (Or they look female for now. Will reevaluate when they get older). Kenyi's get 6 inches are aggressive and do well with slight overstocking.

A list of fish you're looking at would be good.

    Here's some good ideas. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/cookie_cutter_55g.php
  • Question:-What would you do with a 75 gal to create an amazing lake malawi tank.?
What would you do with a 75 gal to create an amazing lake malawi tank.
What fish are relatively easy to obtain and would go well together? How would you decorate the tank? I am new to cichlids and I think malawi's are very colorful. I just don't know which ones or how many to get. Can you help me out?

Answer:-I actually have a 75 gallon Malawi tank! If I had the money I would spend it on Texas Holey Rock... it looks absolutely beautiful especially with the fish colors.
I have an all male tank, keeps the aggression down since there aren't any females to fight over. And one male per species I wouldn't put two greshakei males together...
I wouldn't add any plants because they cichlids will munch on those, even though there are a couple they won't eat, it's not gauranteed and they will eventually uproot them and redecorate the tank for you.
I love the yellow labs, they give you that punch of color you want in a tank. I also have some OB Peacock and a red peacock! I am planning on buying a Pseudotropheus Polit, and a Haplochromis Burtoni. I also have a Greshakei and an Azureus. OH my goodness I almost forgot about my Acei, great color too! The more color the better in my opinion and you will get that with an all male tank.
I would suggest trying to buy some cichlids either online or at a lfs, I would stay away from Petco they don't have a good selection. Petsmart isn't bad...
Do not buy from any tank that is listed mixed or assorted africans... they are hybrids....
I would put about 20 in a 75 gallon, overstocking helps keep the aggression down too.
Message me if you want any help!
  • Question:-What kind of light is good for malawi cichlids?
I have had a malawi cichlid tank for about 5 months, but I still don't have a light for it. I have finally saved up to purchase a light, but don't know what kind to get. What kind of light is good for acei cichlids and yellow lab cichlids?

    thanks.

Answer:-Tube lights are fine but LED lights are cheaper to run and the "bulbs" last almost forever.

The Marineland Double Bright LED Light Fixture would be a perfect spectrum for African cichlids, and make the yellow labs and the acei "pop"!
  • Question:-Help with my freshwater malawi cichlid tank? How do I get the fish to come out?
I have a 60 gallon malawi cichlid tank. There are 5 yellow labs and 6 acei cichlids. Each is between 2-4 inches long. They always stay at the bottom of the tank and hid in the rocks. The only time they come out is when it is feeding time. How do I get them to come out more often and to come to higher levels?

I could take out the rocks, but these are aggressive fish and I don't want them to kill each other.

    thank you.

Answer:-Do not take out the rocks... this is their home. Taking it out will make them nervous and susceptible to diseases from the stress. Instead... do the opposite. Add more hiding places and things for them to be interested and hide in. If they have more hiding places it may make them bolder since they have more places to retreat to. Also... if they're new they will hide for a while. If there's a lot of aggression from the fish they will hide.
  • Question:-How much does it cost to rent office space for 30 people in malawi or South Africa for a month?
I need to know the cost of office space for 30 people in Malawi. If no one know how much it costs in Malawi South Africa would be fine. The office should be first rate, for a very well know international organization.

    Answer:-20000
  • Question:-How should I stock my malawi cichlid tank?
a 55 gallon. i don't like the mottled and dark colors in south american species, so i'm set on malawi. i like blues and yellows, so i was thinking kenyi, and some sort of catfish. suggest whatever species you like.

Answer:-Hi, All Things Fishy Sydney here.
I have the same size tank with at least 20 Malawi cichlids. I've got Lombardi's 2 x females, 1 male, a pair of electric yellows, 2 x Pseudotropheus elongatus, Melanochromis "Maingano", Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" (Msuli) & many beautiful orange blotched peacocks. Your going to love the color of these! My favorite of all is my Sailfin Plecostomus (Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps), he's at least 15cm now & keeps the tank clean for me. They all get on wonderfully together.
Have fun choosing, just remember to add slowly over the first 4-5 weeks.
  • Question:-Is it true that girls can not wear shorts in Malawi?
I am travelling to Malawi in less than 2 on a charity trip and have been told I can't wear 'short shorts' as they will show my thighs and this is not allowed or respectable in Malawi for girls. Is this true?
I want to respect their culture if it is customary not to show thighs.

    Answer:-be a rebel
  • Question:-sand as a substrate for my malawi cichlids?
i just recently removed the gravel in my tank and put sand in for the substrate. is this good for the cichlids? ive been looking at pictures from lake malawi and noticed that it is a sand bottum with lots of rocks. did i do a good thing or should i change it?

    Answer:-Yes it is absolutely fine.
    Sand is their natural substrate.
If you want to put some rocks in, choose some pebbles. From a lake, or even from your backyard.
  • Question:-What Fruit or Vegtables are grown in Malawi?
I'm looking to find the most common produce from malawi. I'm mainly looking at anything that can be grown within the United Kingdom.
    Thanks.

Answer:-Other than for home consumption, most of the households on the islands grow fruits and vegetables to generate income to meet other daily needs. The little that I generate from selling fruits enables me buy fish, maize, bread and soap," says 76 year-old John Themba of Mbungo Village in Likoma, who opted to specialize in growing fruits for sale. He is very proud of the jam he makes from his tomatoes.
In addition to a local market, most of the households sell their produce to the secondary school, hospital, and lodges on the island. Those who produce high value crops such as chilly peppers and beetroot also take them to mainland Malawi.

"The Likoma experience is a microcosm of what needs to happen all over Malawi," says Timothy Gilbo, the World Bank’s Country Manager for Malawi. "There is need to transfer knowledge to people and encourage them to do things differently. Specializing in a high-value crop at household level and trading it, is a good path out of poverty."
According to Gilbo, progress on the island shows that a little money with the right thinking and willingness to change can achieve a lot.
Households compete for progress The Lake Malawi Project has reached out to the islanders with about $5000 from the World Bank’s Civil Society Fund (CSF) from 2006-2008. The CSF supports innovative ideas that empower poor and marginalized groups to take charge of development processes.

In addition to the funding, LMPM has also introduced trophy competitions for summer and winter cropping. Households register their gardens for the competition which assesses how households are managing their gardens based on the skills and knowledge gained from demonstration sessions. By July 2008, 256 households had registered for the 2008 winter competition.
