- Question:-Kmart...........................................................................?
Who owns Kmart? I am asking because, my mom said she isn't shopping at Walmart anymore. Today someone told her that Japan owns the chain own. When she came back and told I said I thought I told you. She well they got my last dollar.
Answer:-Sears owns K-mart, and stock holders own Sears. Now if the majority of the stocks are owned by Japanese, then Yes, you could technically say that Japan owns Sears. But I do not think that is the case. I believe that more than likely the majority of Sears stocks are owned by Americans. - Question:-Whats the difference between kmart and big kmart?
I know target has "super target" and they have a grocery section.
Does the Big Kmart have a full grocery in it?
Answer:-Directly from K-Mart's website ...
Big Kmart - Big Kmart signals a different kind of Kmart. These stores are bigger, brighter and offer big savings, big value, big selection and big convenience.
Big Kmart stores are designed to increase store sales by increasing the frequency of customer visits. The format focuses on three distinct businesses - home fashions, children's apparel and consumables - and features an expanded food area known as the "Pantry."
The layout makes it easier for customers to shop by placing the departments our customers want to shop near one another, and closer to the front of the store.
The average Big Kmart carries nearly 100,000 stock-keeping units (SKU’s).
Big Kmart stores average between 84,000 to 120,000 sq. ft. in size.
The first Big Kmart opened in Chicago, Illinois on April 23, 1997. - Question:-How many hours do Kmart cashiers typically work a week?
A couple months ago I had an interview with Kmart. I forget the position I applied for, it wasn't for cashier, though. The woman said the hours for the position I applied for were between 12 to 20 per week, so obviously I didn't accept the job offer...
Do Kmart cashiers get such pathetic hours too?
Answer:-That sounds about right. Most get around 15 to 20 hours in slow times, and up to 25-30 hours if it's a busy holiday season. I've never understood this stupid principle that countless retailers use. They have many dedicated workers who would be thrilled to work full-time, 40 hours a week. Instead, the company prefers to hire all part time workers in addition to the already existing part-time workers, instead of giving the original workers the extra hours. They don't want to make them full-time because they don't want to have to pay any benefits to them. Part-time benefits have sky-high rates to the point where it's better to just put a little money aside each week in a savings account rather than pay for insurance each week. - Question:-How much does Kmart pay for a sixteen year old?
How much does Kmart pay a sixteen year old an hour to work part time?
Would it be the same as a supermarket and also, what other part time jobs would pay the most?
I already work very casually at a pharmacy but I need more work.
I live in Australia if that helps.
Thanks.
Answer:-KMart etc all pay under the miscellaneous workers union award - so the salary is all the same - same as your pharmacy position. - Question:-What are the chances of me getting drug tested at Kmart?
I have an interview at Kmart and I know they do drug test but a lot of people have told me they didn't get tested.
Daniel, I smoke marijuana which is not bad for your health at all.
Answer:-You will get drug tested. It is part of the hiring process. The hiring manager can not start you on a schedule until the drug test result comes back clean. - Question:-for anyone that worked at kmart how long after orientation do you start work?
I have orientation for kmart thursday. How long after orientation do you start work.?
Answer:-They'll give you a schedule. Usually 2 - 4 days - Question:-What training do Loss Prevention officers at kmart get?
I have an interview at kmart tomorrow for LP. But I wanted to know what type of training they get? And how long does it take? Do they also get a badge?
Answer:-I use to date this guy who worked as a LP for K-Mart. He had no formal training other than watching a few videos to learn how to spot shoplifters. He did not have a badge either. I am not sure if they have changed things since then, (This was back in 2000) and it could differ from store to store or area to area. This would be a good question to ask in your interview though. Good Luck! - Question:-How can I assemble my Martha Stewart from Kmart prelit Christmas tree?
I bought a 7-foot prelit Christmas tree - Martha Stewart from Kmart last year. My daughter assembled it in 10 minutes and it was beautiful all season! We took it out of the box and tried to assemble it yesterday and the branches won't stand up. It seems as if they need to hook or click into something but we can't figure out what. Of course, there were no instructions, only a simple diagram on the box. Does anyone else have one of these trees and know what to do with it?
Answer:-You could try to get online website to www.martha Stewart website to see if you can find something on there. I had a tree three year without instructions. - Question:-I applied to Kmart recently and they automatically scheduled an interview for me, should I call to confirm?
I just applied to Kmart and to my surprise, they automatically schedule an interview towards the end of the application. The scheduled interview is in 3 days, should I call them to confirm?
Answer:-It never hurts to confirm an interview and it makes you look like you are really interested, so I would do it. - Question:-What kind of positions can you apply for at kmart if your underage besides cashier?
I wanted to apply at kmart. But i'm not sure what to apply for. Is there anything else I can do besides cashier?
BTW it has to part time because my state wont let me work full time :(
Answer:-Check with your states department of labor to see what they legally allow underage workers to do. From there you will know if K-Mart has anything for you that you can specifically apply for.

brining a turkey
- Question:-Can someone tell me how to brine a turkey?
I got responses for a previous question telling me that brining turkeys makes them tender. How do I do it? And doesn't it make the turkey extra salty?
Answer:-This is Alton Brown's roat turkey recipe that incorporates a brine. I've used it before and have gotten rave reviews -though i did my aromatics a bit differently, as i didn't have some of those things. Not salty at all, just good.
1 (14 to 16 pound) frozen young turkey
For the brine:
1 cup kosher salt
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 gallon vegetable stock
1 tablespoon black peppercorns
1/2 tablespoon allspice berries
1/2 tablespoon candied ginger
1 gallon iced water
For the aromatics:
1 red apple, sliced
1/2 onion, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup water
4 sprigs rosemary
6 leaves sage
Canola oil
Combine all brine ingredients, except ice water, in a stockpot, and bring to a boil. Stir to dissolve solids, then remove from heat, cool to room temperature, and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
Early on the day of cooking, (or late the night before) combine the brine and ice water in a clean 5-gallon bucket. Place thawed turkey breast side down in brine, cover, and refrigerate or set in cool area (like a basement) for 6 hours. Turn turkey over once, half way through brining.
A few minutes before roasting, heat oven to 500 degrees. Combine the apple, onion, cinnamon stick, and cup of water in a microwave safe dish and microwave on high for 5 minutes.
Remove bird from brine and rinse inside and out with cold water. Discard brine.
Place bird on roasting rack inside wide, low pan and pat dry with paper towels. Add steeped aromatics to cavity along with rosemary and sage. Tuck back wings and coat whole bird liberally with canola (or other neutral) oil.
Roast on lowest level of the oven at 500 degrees F. for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cover breast with double layer of aluminum foil, insert probe thermometer into thickest part of the breast and return to oven, reducing temperature to 350 degrees F. Set thermometer alarm (if available) to 161 degrees. A 14 to 16 pound bird should require a total of 2 to 2 1/2 hours of roasting. Let turkey rest, loosely covered for 15 minutes before carving - Question:-Are any of you brining your turkey?
I brine chickens frequently and find it makes for a moister bird. I have not tried brining my thanksgiving turkey yet. It's an 18lb bird. Has anybody had success with brining turkeys?
Answer:-I am brining my turkey this year. We usually have a kosher turkey (they are brined) but this year we are brining it ourselves. I suggest going to this link
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/et_hd_thanksgiving/0,1972,FOOD_9845,00.html
and watching Alton Brown's video on brining turkey's. It is very helpful and informative and I am using his technique. Contrary to the one answer, brining does not dry out a turkey but actually moistens it.
Oh, and don't use one of those turkey's that has been injected with all those flavorings like you find in the grocery store this time of year. You have to use one that is just plain ol' turkey which can be found at a place like Whole Foods or ask the butcher. - Question:-Does brining a turkey shorten cooking time?
I've read numerous places that brined turkey cooks faster. I'm brining for the first time. Can anyone give me a guideline on what to expect for cooking time for a roasted brined turkey? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Answer:- - Question:-Questions on brining a "Shady Brook" brand turkey breast?
It says it has 60mg of sodium per serving, but doesn't say it has been injected with a salt solution. Would you recommend brining it anyway, or will that make it too salty?
I haven't brined turkey breast before. How much water and how much salt do you recommend? It is nearly 7 pounds. Is brining as simple as salt + water + turkey in pot overnight?
Answer:-If it has that much sodium per serving then it is already brined. Most sellers to the public do it now to make the turkey better. - Question:-Another brining turkey question?
If I bought a mass produced turkey from a grocery store e.g Jennie-O or Butterball, and there's already a 7 or 8% solution injected, would I still able to brine it? If so, would I need to cut back on the salt?
Answer:-You can brine it, but it's unlikely to have any positive effect. The injected solutions are optimized to put as much liquid filler into the bird as it can hold.
If you can't find an unprocessed bird locally, and have to go with the Butterball, etc, save your time and energy for marinading or otherwise treating the bird for additional flavor. A brine will not do anything for you.
Happy cooking! - Question:-need help brining turkey wings only?
can i season the turkey wings and is there a brine recipe for turkey wings?
i only have about 10 turkey wings
Answer:-It's the same for turkeys and turkey wings.
6 quarts hot water
1 pound kosher salt
1 pound dark brown sugar
5 pounds ice
1 (13 to 14-pound) turkey, with giblets removed
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35148,00.html?rsrc=search - Question:-I started brining my turkey with the giblets inside, is the turkey now contaminated?
I'm soaking my turkey in a brine in preparation for tomorrow, but I didn't take out the giblets prior to soaking the turkey. Is the turkey brine now contaminated? I have since removed the giblets and put the turkey back into the brine.
Answer:-no it is not contaminated.......biologist and chef:) - Question:-Have you ever used a turkey brining bag?
I am going to brine 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving and this seems like the easiest and most convenient way but... I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with these as I would prefer not to have a mess in my fridge. Thank you!
I would love to put it outside but I live in South Florida! :(
Answer:-I have used different brine's in the past in the restaurant and what we have done that works out very well and does not use any room in refrigerator. Around the holidays business always ramps up and sometimes refrigeration becomes like looking for prime real estate, It is hard to find. So what we have done is washed and sanitize your ice chest or cooler and make up your brine and let it cool back down ,then put the brine in your cooler and put 4 or 5 pounds of ice in there and then put our turkeys in there and let them set.We were able to get 2 turkeys to an ice chest. Just remember that you need to cut back on the amount of water when making your brine, because of the ice that you will add so it does not weaken your brine.Just keep ice in there until time to cook those turkeys and still have room in the refrigerator. - Question:-Does brining a turkey really make a difference?
And does it make it taste salty? I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year and have heard so much about brining. How exactly do you do it? And what does it do to the turkey?
Answer:-Alll brining does is add moisture to the turkey so when you cook it, it stays moister than without brining.
The salt washes off and will not change the taste.
A better trick (and quicker) is to use butter (or oil) and add hebs, like Rosemary... and garlic if you like and mix it into a paste. Rub this paste 'under' the skin, as far as you can reach. It imparts amazing flavor, keeps the moisture in and crisps up the skin even more. You will not be disappointed - believe me! Your guests will ask you how you made a turket look/taste sooooo good!
Steve - Question:-brining turkey?
I know you can brine a turkey before cooking it, but can I brine turkey pieces? Do I brine them just as long?
Answer:-You can brine just about anything! If your turkey has been butchered into parts you do not need to brine them as long as you would a whole turkey. I would brine a whole bird for 24 hours. If you're brining all of the turkey parts I'd do them for 8 to 10 hours.

Any good advice would be great...Thanks
Answer:-ABSOLUTELY I USE HIS BRINE RECIPE EVERY YEAR.MY TURKEYS RANGE FROM 20 - 25 LBS. IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE RECIPE AT ALL .YOU WILL HAVE AN AWESOME TURKEY THIS YEAR. ENJOY!!!

kindle fire review
- Question:-Will I be able to upload my current media collection to the new Kindle Fire.?
Will I be able to upload my current media collection to the new Kindle Fire. Or will I have to re-purchase everything from Amazon. I know with the Ipad I can use my current media in addition to being able to purchase. All of the Kindle Fire reviews I have read don't mention anything about using your own media.
Answer:- - Question:-Are there any Kindle Fire reviews?
I'm looking at getting this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051VVOB2/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=the00b0-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B0051VVOB2
What do you think of yours?
Answer:-Hey, ryan, I can only give you a list of known facts about Kindle Fire as of this time- see below. Also, according to recently appeared leaks on the Internet, Nook Color 2 will be released by Barnes & Noble on November 7, and this device sure leaves Kindle Fire in the dust.
Leaked specs include:
- dial-core 1.2 Ghz processor vs. 1.0 Ghz of Kindle Fire
- 1.0 GB of RAM vs. 512 MB of Kindle Fire
- 16 GB capacity for apps, videos, photos, ebooks vs. 8 GB of Kindle Fire
- microSD slot to expand capacity even further by another 32 GB vs. no expandable capacity of Kindle Fire
- 1024 x 800 IPS HD display vs. 1024 x 600 of Kindle Fire
- 14.1 oz weight vs. 14.6 oz of Kindle Fire
- Netflix and Hulu Plus for millions of movies streaming built-in vs. 13,000 movies in Amazon store that allows no Netflix and Hulu
1. Kindle Fire doesn't have microSD slot that, for example, Nook Color has thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a "dumb terminal" of the past to make sure you're tied up to Amazon's storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: "Free cloud storage for all Amazon content". Get it, Amazon content?
2. The stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 7.5 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. It will last only about 3 hours if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi.
3. Amazon can spy on your web activity through their new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire.
4. Lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook Color, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot.
5. Kindle doesn't support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.
6. Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has and Nook Color is getting thus again you're stuck with Amazon content only.
7. Amazon confirmed that you cannot download/stream anything to Kindle Fire when traveling outside US.
8. Amazon says it will review every app in its Appstore for Fire compatibility, as part of an automated process. Rejected apps will include those that rely on a gyroscope, camera, WAN module, Bluetooth, microphone, GPS, or micro SD. Apps are also forbidden from using Google's Mobile Services (and in-app billing), which, if included, will have to be "gracefully" removed. In terms of actual content, Amazon has outlawed all apps that change the tablet's UI in any way (including theme- or wallpaper-based tools), as well as any that demand root access.
9. I'd recommend waiting for Nook Color 2 that is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble shortly. - Question:-How good is the Kindle Fire?
(Please answer only AFTER November 15, and ONLY if you actually handled the Kindle Fire)
I'm considering purchasing one, but only after I hear reviews from people who actually have purchased and used some.
Answer:-Hi, M, there's only 3 days left to answer your question thus there's no way anyone can answer it after November 15. Here's what we already know about Kindle Fire:
3. Amazon can spy on your web activity through their new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire.
4. VERY IMPORTANT – lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook Color, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot.
5. Kindle Fire doesn't have a camera.
6. Kindle Fire has about 70% less usable screen area than iPad 2.
7. Kindle doesn't support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.
8. Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has and Nook Color is getting thus again you're stuck with Amazon content only.

11. I'd recommend waiting for Nook Color 2 that is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble shortly. - Question:-I wonder how long the battery life is on the Kindle Fire?
Seems to me that it will eat a lot of battery with it's graphics. Now I'm leaning more toward the touch. Can't wait for the consumer reviews to come in
Answer:-Hi, Lgit, the stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 7.5 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. It will last only about 3 hours if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi. You'll have to use Amazon's Cloud storage as Kindle Fire doesn't have microSD (or any other) card slot thus you're stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage (not much to store) unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. You can only store content you get from Amazon in free Cloud, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: "Free cloud storage for all Amazon content". - Question:-Should I buy the Kindle Fire?
Initially I was turned off about the lack of 3G because my current Kindle has it but I figured I could use my mobile hotspot on my phone to download books. I'll primarily be using it as an e-reader and perhaps some email. I think the mobile hotspot is a backdoor way of getting 3G connection. I've decided to wait for the consumer reviews to come in before making a decision.
Answer:-Hey, Lgit, Kindle Touch would be the one for mainly eBook reading (black & white) while Kindle Fire is for color video and apps. However, neither is the best on the market. Current e-Ink Nook Simpletouch from Barnes & Noble is still better designed than even the new Kindle Touch with battery lasting two months with ONE hour reading a day with Wi-Fi off thus it's still twice as long as new Kindle's two months with HALF and hour a day with Wi-Fi off. It looks like Kindle didn't get any battery improvement in the new model. More, Kindle Touch still flashes black on each page turn while Nook Touch reduces the flashing by 80%. Nook (unlike Kindle) supports eBooks in ePub format that is the universal format most used in the world. If you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’re allowed to read ANY available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi.
About Kindle Fire - it doesn't have microSD slot that Nook Color has thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a "dumb terminal" of the past to make sure you're tied up to Amazon's storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to.) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files, and they can spy on your web activities through the new cloud-integrated web browser. Kindle Fire’s battery will probably only last 3-4 hours while accessing Cloud storage content via Wi-Fi as the advertised 7.5 hours of battery was tested with Wi-Fi off. Also, VERY IMPORTANT – lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot. Nook Color still has the best on the market anti-glare coated screen that is better for reading/viewing outside.
If you can wait, B&N is rumored to be coming out with Nook Color 2 shortly that will sure to have Netflix app among others (you won’t find it on Kindle). - Question:-Should I get the kindle fire?
I really don't know how good it is. I have read reviews but if someone could tell me how it is that would be nice.
Answer:-Hello, Noah, Kindle Fire is one underpowered device to be called a media tablet. Just released next generation Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble clearly is the superior device. It is $224 if sign up for Barnes & Noble membership or $250 without signup. Not just 11.5 hours battery life but 9 hours of video playback time - that's vs. 8 hours for reading and 7.5 hours of video playback on Kindle Fire (even that 7.5 hours will not hold true in tests, video playback drains battery much more than reading.) 1.0 GB RAM Vs. 512 MB RAM of Kindle Fire, 16 GB content capacity plus 32 GB via microSD card vs. 8 GB capacity of Kindle Fire with no expansion slot. Fully laminated HD screen for reduced glare vs. no lamination of Kindle Fire. Bulit-in and optimized Netflix and Hulu plus with millions of movies/shows vs. 100K movies/shows of Amazon store. Nook Tablet has built-in mic for Skype voice conferencing and dictations to speech recognition software and it weights only 14.1 oz. I am planning on buying a tablet to read books and watch movies, but I am not sure which is good. Right now I am leaning toward the iPad 2 (or iPad 3) and the Kindle Fire. Any comments or reviews? Thanks
Answer:-The iPad has a bigger screen, so it will be better for videos. It also has a faster processor and will be more flexible overall. - Question:-Android Tablets for christmas?
we are big android fans but not so big that we know which tablet to purchase...
almost pre ordered a kindle fire but decided against it once i read more reviews about it
which, in your opinion, is the best android tablet on the market? is there something coming out before december that i should hang on for??
any suggestions?
Answer:- - Question:-What do YOU think?
is you had to review this poem what would you say its good and bad points are?
My Love Is Like to Ice
by Edmund Spenser
My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How come it then that this her cold is so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
Or how comes it that my exceeding heat
Is not allayed by her heart-frozen cold,
But that I burn much more in boiling sweat,
And feel my flames augmented manifold?
What more miraculous thing may be told,
That fire, which is congealed with senseless cold,
Should kindle fire by wonderful device?
Such is the power of love in gentle mind,
That it can alter all the course of kind
Answer:-Before anyone else posts, I'd like to point out that the poem is by Edmund Spenser, deceased 400 years, not written by the poster. How did I know? My first clue was when the poster said, "by Edmund Spenser."
Good points:
Spenser sets an analogy, and follows this one idea throughout the poem.
The imagery can be felt as well as seen.
It's very racy, while not being indecent. "But harder grows the more I her entreat?" is a punny description of her reaction, while referring to his. Feeling his "flames augmented manifold," is more hot-and-heavy description.
Bad points:
Um, none. The language is brilliant and full of feeling, without being trite.
Okay, if you have to have a bad point, how about just the age of the poem? The use of words that are not common today means that it is not as accessible as it was when he wrote it. - Question:-I have a marketing project due soon... Any advice?
What is a good competitor for the iPad2 tablet market? I need a product that has specs and reviews, and can actually compete for the iPad2 shares.
I am thinking the about the Kindle Fire or perhaps the Toshiba Thrive or Asus Eee Pad.
Any suggestions?

aircraft carrier
- Question:-Aircraft carrier. . . . . .?
A modern American aircraft carrier has about 6,000 (air wing/ships crew) on it. That's like a small city. With that many people on board, how is sewage handled?
It doesn't take a PHd in Sanitation Engineering to figure out how this was handled during WWII; however, given environmental concerns of today, I just wondered how this is done, considering the long times that a carrier is at sea.
Answer:-Just like a septic tank. It's stored and bacteria break it down to the point where the effluent can be pumped over the side when we're outside territorial waters. In port it's pumped into the local sewage system.
Guess what we call the Hull Technicians who maintain the system? - Question:-Some job in the Aircraft carrier is more safe than others?
How is a job in the Aircraft carrier?
Isn't it more safe than others?
Please tell me about jobs in the aircraft carrier.
Answer:-I would think the safest jobs were below decks. There are a certain number of jobs that have to be done on the flight deck. The deck is crowded, with airplanes taxiing around, taking off and landing, and some of those jobs are very dangerous. It's also very loud and you have to wear ear covers, so you can't exactly yell 'Hey, look out!' to someone. People sometimes get caught under planes, blown overboard by jet exhaust. They are -very- well trained and disciplined to make it as safe as possible, but it's still one of the most dangerous jobs I think. - Question:-The distance between an aircraft carrier and a Navy destroyer is 7620 feet. The angle of elevation from the...
destroyer to a helicopter is 72.2 degrees, and the angle of elevation from the aircraft carrier to the helicopter is 59.0 degrees. The helicopter is in the same vertical plane as the two ships, as shown in the figure on the left. Use these data to determine the distance x from the helicopter to the aircraft carrier.
Answer:-ah...more people wanting us to finish their homework.
It's trig...do the math. - Question:-How many officers on an aircraft carrier have their own private berth?
How many people (which means officers I realize) on an aircraft carrier have a room that they don't share with anyone else?
Answer:-The CO, XO, Department Heads, Flag Officer, Chief of Staff.... generally anybody with the rank of Commander or higher. With the Air Wing embarked my guess would be about 20 to 25.
Some of these guys, Lieutenant Commander and below, would double up.....

So I am still trying to decide which branch of the military I might want to join. One of the things I am taking into consideration is the type of jobs offered on the deck of an aircraft carrier. I say "the deck of an aircraft carrier" because I would really like to be where you smell the fresh air of the sea, not below docks.
Thanks,
Jean
Again, please only answer in more than one word and if you have some military experience.
Answer:-Fresh air......................................that's funny. - Question:-How long does a Navy aircraft carrier deploy for?
My brother is in the Navy and his nuclear power aircraft carrier is scheduled to depart in August 2009. I am trying to plan my wedding according to his deployment schedule. If he departs in August 2009, when is the latest he will be back? And if he comes back after 6 months (hypothetically) can he be shipped out in the next month due to an emergency or whatever the case may be? Should I expect a guaranteed month and year of when he'll be home? HELP! I'm really concerned that my brother may miss my wedding! Thanks in advance!
Answer:-if its a new ship they are going to do a big show boat run with it to show it of. this is mostly around the world and will be 6-9+ mo's. if its the normal schedule deployment while there to Leave in august 09 they will be doing a lot of pre cruse stuff. those are 2 weeks to 2 mos in length and they change then about the way the wind blows.but after they do get out the door and head out for where ever it will be 6-9 mo's and after he will get a chance for a few weeks of on leave.then a few mo's off then it starts all over again.
its not just a adventure,,,, its a job. the first 4 years i was married i was home for Ever major holiday but my daughters birth. Once.... - Question:-What are the dimensions of the Essex Class Aircraft Carrier?
Well I need to know the dimensions of an Essex class aircraft carrier for a project.
So:
Length
Width (of the deck)
Height (from deck to the bottom of the hull (even submerged part))
Height (of the control tower)
Thanks for the help. I don't want to use wikipedia and some other sites have confusing wording.
Answer:- - Question:-How do arresting gears on Aircraft carrier?
How to the arresting gears on Aircraft carrier work?
How do they attach themselves to the warplane?
Answer:-A tailhook on the aircraft catches a cable that is strung across the deck. - Question:-What was the aircraft carrier that sunk in the movie transformer?
Actually, what was the aircraft carrier number that sunk in the movie transformer2?
Answer:-actually, Stennis is seen later in the movie when the captain is talking on the radio with Sector 7 guy and orders the rail gun attack on the pyramid. The Roosevelt, CVN-71 is seen sinking in an earlier scene. - Question:-What is it like to be stationed on an aircraft carrier?
I am going to enlist in the Navy and I would like to be stationed on an aircraft carrier. I know three people that served in the Navy and they all were on an aircraft carrier and they told me they enjoyed it.
Do you know anything of how life is like on an aircraft carrier?
Answer:-You work 12 hours on and 12 hours off for the most part 6 days a week. Sundays are more relaxed unless operational commitments require. The work pace can get hectic like when you are near any war zones and flight operations are taking place night and day. With not much to do besides work you can get caught up in working even longer hours to pass the time. But it is really great when you pull into some fine ports overseas. I made 7 cruises to the western Pacific area and enjoyed immensely places like Australia (any city), Japan, Korea, Thailand, New Zealand, Tasmania and Subic Bay, Philippines (when we still had a base there. A carrier usually has a weight room to work out in and burn off some tension, a ship's store with some nice items to purchase (CD's, DVD's, snacks, and ships's souveniers, etc.), the food is usually fairly good and served in 4 different times as the ship never fully sleeps. Put in the long hours of hard work and you will feel the great feeling of contributing to the overall goal of the ship's missions and then enjoy visiting some nice overseas places and experiencing some things many will never see. And in your spare time at sea you can always take some college courses (yes, we have some civilian teachers along that are contracted with the Navy to teach some limited courses), play some cards or board games with your buddies, watch TV (there is closed circuit TV piped throughout the ship with some, relatively, new shows and movies), play some video games, catch up on a good book (there is a library), or many other forms of relaxation. And don't forget to write home and share your experiences with family and friends.
Good luck, shipmate!

daylight savings time
- Question:-When does Daylight Savings Time start and end in each part of the world?
Explain it to me please! The whole scenario. Everything about it. If daylight savings time starts at 12:00 AM does 12:00 AM last for 2 hours? Do we have more daylight or more night time at which times? Which countries don't observe it and why? What is DST anyways?
Answer:-The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. Countries have different change dates. Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring.
If you live near the equator, day and night are nearly the same length (12 hours). But elsewhere on Earth, there is much more daylight in the summer than in the winter. The closer you live to the North or South Pole, the longer the period of daylight in the summer. Thus, Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) is usually not helpful in the tropics, and countries near the equator generally do not change their clocks.
Conservation-wise, the rationale behind the 1975 study of DST-related energy savings was that energy use and the demand for electricity for lighting homes is directly related to the times when people go to bed at night and rise in the morning. In the average home, 25 percent of electricity was used for lighting and small appliances, such as TVs and stereos. A good percentage of energy consumed by lighting and appliances occurred in the evening when families were home. By moving the clock ahead one hour, the amount of electricity consumed each day decreased.
As far as the places that do NOT acknowledge DST, In the U.S., Arizona doesn’t observe Daylight Saving Time, but the Navajo Nation (parts of which are in three states) does. However, the Hopi Reservation, which is entirely surrounded by the Navajo Nation, doesn’t observe DST. In effect, there is a donut-shaped area of Arizona that does observe DST, but the “hole” in the center does not.
ALSO, the Equatorial and tropical countries (lower latitudes) generally do not observe Daylight Saving Time. Since the daylight hours are similar during every season, there is no advantage to moving clocks forward during the summer. China has had a single time zone since May 1, 1980, observing summer Daylight Saving Time from 1986 through 1991; they do not observe DST now.
Hope this helped. - Question:-When is the fall change from Daylight savings time to Daylight Standard Time in 2007?
I saw a sign that talked about checking your batteries in your smoke detectors. But it didn't give the date of the conversion from daylight savings time to daylight standard time.
When will that happen?
Answer:-Sunday morning Nov. 4th at 2 am at your local time
the clocks FALL BACK ONE HOUR to 1am !!
A lot of folks will be considerably early for church that morning - Question:-How do i get the daylight savings time update on my cable box?
I've been out of town for awhile and i plugged my cable box back in last night and the tv guide updated but the time hasn't been updated for daylight savings time. Will it update automatically or do i have to call comcast? There is no option to change it.
Answer:-Your cable people have to do the update. It should be done automatically, if not, try unplugging it again and replugging and it should update. It that fails, call Comcast. - Question:-When does daylight savings time start?
I need to know when daylight savings time starts in the United States 2009? Can anyone help me?
Answer:-March 8th, 2 AM precisely. - Question:-How do you deal with daylight savings time and bedtime?
My daughter (5 months) goes to bed around 7:30, but I am not sure what to do after daylight savings. Do you keep the same time (bedtime now at 8:30) or do you gradually move bedtime back up to what would have been 6:30. Can I just say I have always hated daylight savings, but now even more.
Answer:-I would keep the same bedtime (now 8:30) as because it will be spring and summer soon and daylight will last longer. You and your family will be doing more in the evening so if babys bedtime is a little later it will be good. When it changes back in the fall the baby will once again go to bed earlier when its fall and winter and dark earlier. - Question:-Since it's daylight savings time, should I start taking my birth control an hour earlier?
I usually take my birth control at 10 am. Now since it's daylight savings time, should I take it at 9? I'm very paranoid about getting pregnant so I need to make sure I take it at the same time on the dot every day. Saying an hour or so won't make a difference is not cool with me. Thanks!
Answer:-Personally I don't think you should change your time just because of the time change. I know you don't want to hear that an hour won't make a difference but I have to say that you shouldn't worry. Once I took it a few hours late. Once you have been doing it for a few days, your body will have adjusted to it...stick with your time. - Question:-How does daylight savings time work?
So. I know there's spring forward, fall back, but now in the spring after we in America have had the spring forward, are we IN daylight savings time, or did it END and we won't be on it until fall back?
Also, when does Europe have it because my friend in Germany still hasn't had spring forward.
Answer:-It's not called daylight savingS time - it's called daylight savING time.
Try looking it up with a Google search - it would be much more efficient than YA! - Question:-Can anyone name any advantages of switching from daylight savings time bactk to standard time?
Seems to me the switch is a nuisance that has no advantages. What's wrong with keeping the time on daylight savings like forever? So now with standard time, it gets dark earlier. Who needs or wants that?
Answer:-It's so farmers can get more time out of the day. Early to bed early to rise - Question:-How do states that don't participate in daylight savings time keep track of time?
Okay I understand that some states like Arizona and Hawaii don't participate in daylight savings time (dst) so what time do they go by? Do they just keep their clocks the same all the time. If so, what do they do about their computers and cell phones automatically changing time?
Answer:-Arizona currently falls on Mountain Time and when we observe regular time they fall on Pacific when we observe daylight savings. The reason why they don't follow daylight savings I found out is because of the heat in the summer and an extra hour of sunlight is not needed.
Their computers/cell phone just know from the signals they received. For example - if you ever travel into another time zone, just give your phone a few moments and it picks up the new signal. It happened to me a few times. - Question:-Why is the daylight savings time for this year is different than other years?
I believe the daylight savings time for past years occured at the last week of March. So, why do they change it this year?
Answer:-They are right...to save energy. To put it more basically, when we go on daylight savings time earlier there are more hours of daylight throughout our day. More sunlight = less need to lights on = saving tons of energy just by moving it forward several weeks.

indy car
- Question:-What are those motorcycles the indy car drivers and theier crews drive around?
What are those motorcycles the indy car drivers and theier crews drive around?
Answer:-Segway, i think. - Question:-Which day during an typical Indy Car race weekend do the drivers sign autographs and take photos?
I'm thinking about going to the Birmingham race. I have never been to an Indy Car race. I'm wondering what is the best day of the weekend to meet the drivers? Fri, Sat, or Sun?
Answer:-I can't speak for other races, but I do know that leading up to the Indy 500 race they sign autographs on the Wednesday before the race (aka Community Day), and sometimes on Fridays/Saturdays at retail stores like Meijers, Krogers, etc. - Question:-What are those scooters called that the indy car drivers and theier crews drive?
What are those scooters called that the indy car drivers and theier crews drive?
Answer:-Segway, i think. - Question:-How many cheered when Danica Patrick won the Indy car race the other day?
She became the first woman to ever when an Indy car race.
I'm a father of daughters; therefore I'm a big fan of women's sports. She's doing it in a man's world. I say keep it going Danica. I'm pulling for ya.
Answer:-I cheered! Good for her. She drove a clean race. Well deserve win and won the race with the new weight rule!
I read on indycar.com (jack arute's article) that Graham Rahal and Helio Castroneves tried to downplay Danica's win. Arute pointed out that Rahal did the same startegy to win and Helio Castroneves knew that Danica will be the leader once she passed him. He was told (on the radio) not to fight for the lead or he will not make it to the finish line.
Helio gave conflicting statement about the race. One in which he can't compete for lead due to fuel and the other he didn't know that Danica was the leader when she passed him.
Danica humbly credited her team and race strategist kyle moyer.
I had a feeling that Danica will win when Helio and Ed Carpenter went charging passed her. They were consuming more gas and Danica was driving on a consistent pace. I was praying that no yellow flag comes up and she'll get the win. All those guys upfront are just waiting for a yellow flag to come up and probably do a shootout. Unfortunately for them there was no yellow. Danica deserves the win fair and square.
Like what Will Power said Danica drove a smart race and the others did not. She won it fair and square. - Question:-What is the song on channel Versus that plays for the Indy car racing?
I as watching the Stanley Cup playoffs and it showed a small ad on the screen for the long beach grand prix or somehing for indy car recing and it had this really sweet instrumental song in the background. It had a drm beat and strings or watever. if you know what im talkin about please help!
Answer:-I think the song you are looking for is called "You Ain't Nothing but a Groundhog," as performed by Zev Boim.
. - Question:-How long will a 60 lap Indy car race last?
I am wondering about how many hours a 60 mile indy car race will last
the race is at watkins glen in NY state... at that track... 60 laps, how long?
Answer:-Let's approach it empirically, shall we?
Watkins Glen is 3.40 miles (5.43 km) in the "GP" configuration. The record for that course is held by Helio Castroneves at just under 1:30. Let's say - just for argument's sake - that under race conditions the average lap time will be 1:40. 60 laps straight out at racing speed would be an hour and forty minutes. Time for yellows and miscellaneous schlamozzles add another 20 minutes, at least. We're up to two hours. For advertising, pre- and post-race stuff and miscellaneous BS another 30 to 45 minutes and that should be about it.
Grand total? Approximately two hours and forty-five minutes. I'd round it all off at about 3 hours. Give or take.
How does that work for you? - Question:-Who is your favorite Indy Car driver past or present?
This can be any Indy Car Series, Cart, Champ Car and Fed Ex Championship Driver(s). Mine is Michael Andretti - Never had much luck at the brickyard but he rules at the Milwaukee Mile. And since 2005 I follow Danica Patrick. I know she is a hot head but she is a competitor and she will win the 500 very soon. I have been a Michael Andretti fan since 1985. Never was a fan of his dad Mario.
Answer:-***Well, back in the day, I was a huge A J Foyt, Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, and Bobby and Al Unser fan. Today, I like Danica Patrick, because she is sort of a 'hot head' by not letting people walk all over her. She kinda reminds me of A J Foyt, who was my all time fav. - Question:-What does it take for a 16 year old to become a Indy Car Driver?
I am 16 i will be turning 17 soon i love race cars. i watch indy and f1 races when ever I get the chance. I know that everybody i asked said that I should have started karting years back but i just didn't have the money and had no one helping me. I really want to be a Indy car driver there is not anything else i want to do as bad as this. I am wondering if theres anyway i could still accomplish this dream?
Answer:-indy car rules state that you must be 18 or older to drive indy cars in a race - Question:-How much protection does a Formula One or Indy car driver have from getting badly hurt or killed in a wreck?
How much protection do F1 or Indy car drivers have should they crash, bigtime? The cars are open cockpit, so how much safety stuff do they have?
Thank you for the answers so far.
Answer:-There is a very high level of safety mantained in Formula 1. the cars are built of Carbon compounds which are very strong as compared to other metals. Since Ayrton Senna's death in 1994, FIA has been very strict in mantaining safety measures. The Ralf Schumacher crash in 2004 US Grand prix proved how strong the F1 cars are. They have complete protection against high speed crashes. - Question:-Why do people make fun a nascar but not the izod indy car series?
All them yankees up north say Nascar sucks because all they do is drive in circles but you never here them making fun on the izod indy car series, it is the same thing but with stupid foreign people instead of Americans, nascar is america there for it is better
Answer:-because they ask "what's the izod indycar series?"
indy 500 is the only household name in that series
