• Question:-When you break down the word apostasy and apostle, what do the words actually mean?
  I love learning new words. The other day I found out what apostasy means and was very excited when I learned this because it so resolutely defines my religious views in the past four years. But I was wondering, what do these close-sounding words mean? For instance how is apostle, apocalypse, apostasy mean when you break them down? All of them start with "apo". What does this mean in its original (latin or greek or whatever)? Thanks!
  
  Answer:-Apo (Alpha, pi, omicron) means from. In Greek, what we translate as Apocalypse means to reveal or uncover, what we translate apostasy means defection (read: heresy), and the word we translate Apostle also means messenger. I have yet to take a Greek class, so I don't know the significance of the word 'Apo' at the beginning, but in all of them it is hyphened off. I don't think that they are as connected as you think they are; there are lots of Greek words in the New Testament with this three letter prefix.

  Answer:-The penalty for apostasy in Islam is death.
  
  Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"
  
  Qur'an (9:11-12) - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist." This verse is speaking of infidels (ie. "slay the infidels wherever you find them" 9:5) who obviously became Muslim to escape the sword, but the Hadith make no distinction of how a Muslim came to be a Muslim. Apostasy is always punished by death.
  
  Bukhari (52:260) - "...The Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "
  
  Bukhari (83:37) - "Allah's Apostle never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations: (1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,) (2) a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate."
  
  Bukhari (84:57) - "[In the words of] Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"
  
  Bukhari (89:271) - A man who embraces Islam, then reverts to Judaism is to be killed according to "the verdict of Allah and his apostle."
  
  Bukhari (84:58) - "There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu'adh asked, 'Who is this (man)?' Abu Muisa said, 'He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism.' Then Abu Muisa requested Mu'adh to sit down but Mu'adh said, 'I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice.' Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, 'Then we discussed the night prayers'"
  
  Bukhari (84:64-65) - "Allah's Apostle: 'During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection.'"
  
  Abu Dawud (4346) - "Was not there a wise man among you who would stand up to him when he saw that I had withheld my hand from accepting his allegiance, and kill him?" Muhammad is chastising his companions for allowing an apostate to "repent" under duress. (The person in question was Muhammad's former scribe who left him after doubting the authenticity of divine "revelations" upon finding out that he could suggest grammatical changes. He was brought back to Muhammad after having been captured in Medina).
  
  Reliance of the Traveller (Islamic Law) o8.1 - "When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed." (o8.4 affirms that there is no penalty for killing an apostate).

  Both are things that will get a person killed in Muslim countries. My impression from what I have heard is that blasphemy is saying anything negative about Islam, and apostasy is choosing to have different religious beliefs from what your parents taught you.
  
  Answer:-Blasphemy: saying anything negative about islam or Muhammed.
  
  Apostasy: deciding to leave islam for another religion or no religion.
  
  Both these things are offenses that will get a person executed in those muslim countries that have Sharia (religious law).

Even in a book of Socrates, the person he was talking to said what does it matter if the person I am bringing to court is my own father. Islam tells us even if my own mother murdered someone and someone else was going to die for her deed, I should (and I completely agree) that I should say no it is my mother that did it.

  Answer:-While we are still alive, any sins that we have committed can be forgiven. The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the sin of Final Impenitence--to die in God's disfavor. One can do what is necessary to receive God's mercy by praying the rosary daily. See the following promises.

  I guess I am guilty of one or both of them, since I converted to Buddhism some years ago. But I have heard these words used interchangeably. I am not bashing Christianity, and please limit the atheist hate speech (going either way). Just wondering.
  
  Answer:-An apostate is one who, after once professing a religion, later renounces it. A heretic is one who holds non-orthodox beliefs.

  Answer:-There are exactly TWO chances... slim and none. And I'm putting my wager on none. Islam may obtain more and more followers, even here in the U.S.A., but: even then the U.S. constitution restricts exactly how far Religion can get involved with Government. So, while the Govt can't restrict Muslims from living by Sharia law, they CAN restrict Muslims from enforcing any punishment beyond the basic "kicking the offenders out of the Religion". Fines, imprisonment, corporal punishment, and anything beyond would be totally unconstitutional and not allowed. For them to force the issue would be for them to abdicate their Religious group status and lose all the other benefits that a Religion enjoys in this nation. They may not like it but even IF they became a majority of the population of the U.S. they would still face the very same roadblocks that Christianity faces in trying to make this a Christian Nation. The majority can NOT make the minority illegal and may not discriminate against them in any way whatsoever.
  
  So, as much as Christians hate the fact that the U.S. won't give them special status that also gives them the same protections if/when their majority status changes. It works for them as much as it works against them. Accordingly, they should just shut up and let things rest the way they are for they may very well unleash all the "winds of Pandora's Box" and bring about their own demise.

  Answer:-Yes, many of the punishments of Sharia law are considered violations of human rights under international law. For example, cutting off the hand of a thief, flogging, stoning, etc. "International law," however, is binding in a particular nation only to the extent that a nation is willing to give it effect. So, a country that is under the control of Sharia law adherents merely ignores the international agreements and continues its own way.

  Answer:-When states recognize sharia law, they recognize it as subordinate to US law. So you can't cut someone's hand off for stealing or something like that. Generally, it is applied in business dealings between Muslims. If a Muslim were to do business with a regular American, the Muslim couldn't break US law in a business dealing.
  
  People who want to preemptively make Sharia law are all about the noise with little concern about the substance.

  Sharia law can sneak in under the radar and hide behind freedom of speech and religion laws. Also, they can get away with enforcing it by using "Political Correctness" against it's host nation.
  
  Answer:-Sharia law has no place in western societies and should never even be considered as even in its most moderate interpretations it does not treat women as the equals of men. Women are considered second-class citizens and have no rights at all.
  
  Religion freedom is all well and good as long as beliefs and practices adhere to the western laws already in place. There should be no allowances made using 'freedom of speech' or 'political correctness' or 'freedom of religious expression'.
  
  There should be one rule/law for all, not different rules/laws for religious minorities and if these rules/laws are broken then they should face the full penalty of the law ... and if they don't like it they can go back to where they came from!
  
  This should not just apply to extremist Muslim beliefs but to other extreme religions such as the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses etc.
  
  Communism and national socialism(fascism) are both in your face philosophies and don't sneak in by stealth but by revolution.
