I love learning new words. The other day I found out what apostasy means and was very excited when I learned this because it so resolutely defines my religious views in the past four years. But I was wondering, what do these close-sounding words mean? For instance how is apostle, apocalypse, apostasy mean when you break them down? All of them start with "apo". What does this mean in its original (latin or greek or whatever)? Thanks!
Answer:-Apo (Alpha, pi, omicron) means from. In Greek, what we translate as Apocalypse means to reveal or uncover, what we translate apostasy means defection (read: heresy), and the word we translate Apostle also means messenger. I have yet to take a Greek class, so I don't know the significance of the word 'Apo' at the beginning, but in all of them it is hyphened off. I don't think that they are as connected as you think they are; there are lots of Greek words in the New Testament with this three letter prefix. - Question:-What is the penalty for apostasy in Islam?

Answer:-The penalty for apostasy in Islam is death.
Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"
Qur'an (9:11-12) - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist." This verse is speaking of infidels (ie. "slay the infidels wherever you find them" 9:5) who obviously became Muslim to escape the sword, but the Hadith make no distinction of how a Muslim came to be a Muslim. Apostasy is always punished by death.
Bukhari (52:260) - "...The Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "
Bukhari (83:37) - "Allah's Apostle never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations: (1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,) (2) a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate."
Bukhari (84:57) - "[In the words of] Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"
Bukhari (89:271) - A man who embraces Islam, then reverts to Judaism is to be killed according to "the verdict of Allah and his apostle."
Bukhari (84:58) - "There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu'adh asked, 'Who is this (man)?' Abu Muisa said, 'He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism.' Then Abu Muisa requested Mu'adh to sit down but Mu'adh said, 'I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice.' Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, 'Then we discussed the night prayers'"
Bukhari (84:64-65) - "Allah's Apostle: 'During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection.'"
Abu Dawud (4346) - "Was not there a wise man among you who would stand up to him when he saw that I had withheld my hand from accepting his allegiance, and kill him?" Muhammad is chastising his companions for allowing an apostate to "repent" under duress. (The person in question was Muhammad's former scribe who left him after doubting the authenticity of divine "revelations" upon finding out that he could suggest grammatical changes. He was brought back to Muhammad after having been captured in Medina).

Both are things that will get a person killed in Muslim countries. My impression from what I have heard is that blasphemy is saying anything negative about Islam, and apostasy is choosing to have different religious beliefs from what your parents taught you.

Not just the Gabrielle Giffords was shot (and the first report I received was that she was killed) but that 6 others were also killed. My dad knew the judge who was killed and started crying. I met Gabrielle Giffords when she spoke at my high school and she was a nice person. No matter what your political beliefs are, this should not happen. And that little 9 year old girl, ugh, it hurts me to my core.

From that article I was given to believe that he called his ex-wife to have her check on their 2yr-old before he did it, and that her father indeed did -- that it was he who found the body, and the child was still asleep; that he and his brother had an official investigation open for a long time with no action taken on it; that both he and his brother have repeatedly said they had no knowledge of what Bernie was doing, and an aside that Mark had three residences, and a hefty income.
The overwhelming first reaction seeing the headline was pure sadness. Especially that he used a dog leash. But that child in the next room felt monstrous of him, to me, asleep or not, having given forewarning or not. What child doesn't need his father, trust his father? If Mark indeed didn't know what Bernie was doing, he may have been the kind of man who couldn't abide the implication and visions of his son growing up with it.

Answer:-Depends on the Character. For those who are dead, there may be a copyright on the use of their name or likeness. For those that are living unless you have their express permission, if you sell the game, you will be in trouble. They can and probably will sue you depending on how much your game actually makes.
For those which have been dead for a long time, or are famous historical figures, ie Ghengis Khan, Moses, Buffalo Bill, etc it should be fine.

I have been watching the Simpson's for a very long time. And the last 2 seasons (20-21) have just felt well, empty. Less characters, Worse story line, and the show has turned into more of a cartoon... then a show. The older episodes used to be moving and had a better plot. The newer episodes are still funny, but they focus more on humor than plot and characters. a lot of people think that the last good season was 9 (97-98) But episodes were still good after that. I think the last good season was 19 (07-08) and the last good episode overall "Mona Leaves a." I don't care about animation or that. which i guess lots of people do.

Answer:-After years and years of discussing this on various message boards, such as IMDB, as well as with friends, and reading critics thoughts as well, here are my thoughts. Most people say that after either season 8, or season ten, the show declined rapidly. That seems to be the consensus, about 50 percent say after season 8 and 50% after season ten. Many stretch it out until seasons 11 or twelve.
My opinion is after season 10, I saw some decline, yet I still enjoyed seasons 11 and twelve. However, 11 and twelve were the first ones I saw a few episodes where I felt the show may have "Jumped the Shark", and hoped it was only a fluke. But the show declined rapidly after that. Seemed around 2000 or so, that the show stopped being just about stories from Springfield, to over-the-top adventures in other countries, with a different celebrity every week. It seemed to have lost it's cozy, albiet crazy, Springfield-story-telling-ways.
Oh well. Even bad episodes of the Simpsons can give you a few laughs. And even the BEST years of this show lasted longer than most TV shows EVER last. - Question:-descriptive words to describe the family members of the SIMPSONS <3?

Answer:-Qaddafi is a mad man, and a war criminal. He already knows that he has no way out. If he tries to escape the country, no other country will give him refuge, and will most definitely be sent to the court for crimes against humanity. If he gets captured in Libya, he will be executed with or possibly without trial. Being a bloodthirsty criminal, he will fight until the end, without any regard to the Libyan people, and might get thousands of Libyans killed in the process (thousands may have been killed already).
The position that Western nations have taken from the atrocities already committed by Qaddafi against his people is very shameful and hypocritical to say the least. They are talking about potentially imposing some sanctions, when hundreds or more are being killed every day. They are not even suggesting a no-fly zone over Libya yet to prevent Qaddafi from bombing his own people. Qaddafi will not die a martyr. He will be killed like a pig and this will happen within days. And those who stood on the sidelines will live with their shame.
