Vehicle Gps Real Time Tracking Systems

GPS real time tracking is an important tool for fleet operators. This industry is under increasing pressure to ensure faster and more efficient delivery. However, as much as this is vital, it is also important to ensure the safety of staff. Using GPS tracking systems in vehicles can help to reduce costs and allows both businesses and governments to get value for their money.
Tracking devices
A GPS tracking device can be attached to each vehicle. In general, these devices are known as modems. A modem consists of software which is able to carry out local calculations and then communicate this information to a main system. The modem transmits data from vehicles and the fleet which is deemed useful. This means that only relevant data is communicated as and when required. This data is then set out in a clear and understandable form. Information that can be transferred includes:
*Vehicle diagnostics: This is basically vehicle status information. For example, if hard braking occurs then the GPS real time tracking device is alerted and it will send this data to the main system.
*Alerts and emergencies: Not only can the GPS device detect any problem independently, it also has a distress button and geo-coding which can be used to find out where the driver is located.
*Messaging display terminal: This allows for two-way messaging which is, again relayed in real time.
Retrieving fleet data
There are very effective GPS real time tracking systems available which ensure that vehicles can be monitored wherever they are, whenever needed. Basically a signal is sent from the vehicle modem to an antennae from where it goes to satellite airtime and lastly to an Internet application. From this, real time data can be obtained and this can be of vital importance should an emergency occur.
This speed of transfer is due in major part to the Iridium meshed network which is composed of Low Earth satellites orbiting the earth. These are positioned pole to pole and are capable of sending data across within seconds. This is why it is so easy to receive information no matter where a vehicle is or whatever time of the day you need the data.
It can be hard to adhere to fleet policies and ensure compliance. There are ways in which costs can be kept to a minimum by driving at a slower speed and reducing idle time. However, making sure that these rules are followed can be a challenge, especially if it is believed that certain people are the culprits. Using this form of GPS system, it is possible to greatly improve fleet capabilities and make sure that real changes are made and adhered to.
GPS real time tracking is an efficient way to keep track of a fleet. It not only allows the fleet to become more efficient but also protects the driver.
GPS real time tracking allows for greater control of a fleet. It improves efficiency of the fleet, saves money and helps ensure the safety of drivers.

  1. I think that fleet services can really take advantage of a real time GPS tracking system because it can allow them to track all of the vehicles that they are sending out every day. I agree that it does protect the driver well because you will always know where they will be. The small business that I work for has been using this type of system and it has worked out really well.
