• Question:-What was the biggest reason for Mike Leach's firing from Texas Tech?
  I'm curious as to what the Yahoo community thinks. Was it his (alleged) treatment of Adam James coupled with his family's complaints? Or was it the fact that Mike Leach was due a hefty $800,000 bonus this past Friday? Do you know of another reason? 10 pts for the most thought provoking, grammatically correct answer.
  
  Answer:-The biggest reason is that he stuck to his guns and refused to apologize when they offered him a way out. He refused to back off and allow the school to give something to the media/accusers/etc.
  
  The $800K was a tiny part EXCEPT in how quickly they made the decision. It represents an insignificant (6.7%) part of his nearly $13M contract.
  
  The stage had been set with many incidents over the past year. The shed incident gave them a focal point and his stubbornness pulled the trigger.
• Question:-Question concerning concussions and the allegations against Mike Leach?
  I am aware of the situation concerning Mike Leach and his treatment of injured WR Adam James. However, I am not fully aware of the effects that isolation in an electrical closet or dark room has on a concussed individual. So what makes this treatment so bad that he deserves to get fired? Please help me understand.
  
  Answer:-Sensory Deprivation can be helpful for a concussion. This would be done maybe at home in a dark room in a comfortable chair or in an SD chamber. The stories Leach is putting out now are called "Lawyering Up".
  
  Their purpose is to divert attention from the fact that he was planning on punishing a kid he (Justified or not) didn't like. Perhaps the kid was a goof-off. But, Leach is now trying to protect himself from a lawsuit that his actions have qualified him for quite well.
  
  Coupled with SEVERAL earlier actions that he got away with, this latest action that (while not likely to be dangerous to the kids health) could easily be grounds for criminal prosecution from the articles I have read.

  Answer:-Yeah, I hadn't really thought about that, but it's true. Knight was a coach that made a career out of mistreating others and Texas Tech welcomed him with open arms. It sure seems like there is a double standard in play.

  Everywhere i've looked their has been no mention of whether Mike Leach was ever a position coach. But that doesn't make any sense to me, so has did he start out like most coaches coaching a position?
  
  Answer:-Yes he was the OL coach and OC at Iowa Weslyan and was QB coach at Valdosta St while serving as OC, and I think he was QB coach at KY as well. Most all coordinators will also coach a position.
  
  He got a masters from US Sports Academy after leaving BYU then went on to Pepperdine Law School, his first coaching job was at Cal Poly in San Louis Obispo in 1987, then one year at College of the Desert as an assistant, then went to Euro League, then got his first OC job at Iowa Weslyn.

  I guess I just missed it or didn't care, but I completely missed what happened to get Mike Leach fired.
  
  Answer:-On December 28, 2009, Leach was suspended indefinitely by Texas Tech pending investigation of alleged inappropriate treatment of Adam James, son of former SMU and New England Patriots running back (and current ESPN college football analyst) Craig James. On December 16, James suffered a concussion in practice. He was examined the next day, and told not to practice that afternoon due to the concussion and an abnormally high heart rate. According to a James family source, Leach ordered him to stand in a dark shed near the Raiders' practice facility. Leach also threatened to kick James off the team if he left the shed.[ According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Leach thought that James was faking the injury. School officials gave Leach an ultimatum--apologize to James in writing by December 28 or Leach would be suspended. Leach refused to do so; his attorney, Ted Liggett, said his client didn't dispute the facts, but didn't think he'd done anything wrong.

• Question:-On ESPN radio 12/29 Doug Gottlieb compared the Mike Leach case with a famous broadcaster. Anyone know who?
  He said the broadcaster also had a contentious contract negotiations with his network and so when the next contract was being negotiated, the network dropped him and they said this is similar to what Texas Tech is doing to Mike Leach.   Answer:-I've had two concussions in my life. Both times my doctor told me to spend as much time as possible the first couple of days "in a dark room". If it weren't for James' last name, Leach would still have a job. Back to the bottom of the Big 12 South.

  IF James had concussion like symptoms then sticking his butt in a dark room, out of the bright light, is the right thing to do. Why? With concussion type symptoms, people are more susceptible to the light and could possibly make the issue worse.
  
  IMO, Craig James used his media contacts to try and "influence" Mike Leach into playing his son more. When Leach refused, this is when this whole drama filled story came out.
  
  Again, IMO Tech football just took 3 giant steps backwards. Leach should not have been fired, the school was looking for a way out of the contract they gave him. Enter Adam James...

  Answer:-shirt-cotton and button down with probably long sleeves
  t-shirt-possibly, but one of the "A" shirts (also called a wife beater) or long underwear if it was cold.
  vest-a typical heavy vest possibly of light wool or leather with a watch pocket (if he had a watch it would be attached to one of the buttons on the vest with a watch chain (fob).
  coat-a long 'duster' coat probably made of oilskin (oil treated fabric) or leather.
  boots-probably something similar to today's cowboy boots, and most likely would always wear spurs.
  heavy belt and gun holster-would probably have extra ammo too.
  hat-a narrow brimmed cowboy hat or possibly a bowler.

  Answer:-Episode 9 – The School of Hard Knocks
  - this episode was when Jessie and James explained that they got the lowest scores in Pokemon tech. They're basically dropouts.

  - This episode was when Jessie and James explained that they were part of the bicycle gang. They left to join Team Rocket which also impressed their old admirers.

  Answer:-Jesse James was a very sick man at the time of his death, suffering from probably a number of stress-related problems, and constantly watering eyes. He was also probably psychotic, a situation not helped by his Civil War experiences, and had a reputation for killing with no reason and no conscience.
  
  Apparently Robert Ford and his brother, who were part of his gang, genuinely feared that they were next on Jesse's hit list, and took matters into their own hands.
  
  Some say it was done for fame, which may well be borne out by the way Robert Ford and his brother took the killing on the road as a stage show and made money out of re-enacting it.
  
  I think Jesse just let his guard down and was probably distracted by that stupid picture on the wall - he was a Virgo, after all, and maybe too engrossed in minutiae.

James was having issues training it to use Drain Punch and he felt giving it to Gardenia was the best thing for Cacnea since they both wanted it to get stronger and he felt that wasn't going to happen under his care.
  
  In regards to Seviper and Mime Jr. as well as Wobbuffet, they were both left behind in Team Rocket's HQ before they went to Unova. They weren't allowed to bring their Pokémon with them because they were given a specific assignment and they had to stay as out of sight as possible so they couldn't use Pokémon that weren't native to Unova.

  Answer:-Opinion: the storyline is simplistic rubbish, the acting is wooden, the number of factual mistakes is quite amazing. However, the saving grace is the footage of the 1966 F1 season. When I watch the film, I fast forward through the dialogue to get to the racing.
  
  The greatest motor racing film ever made for me is "Le Mans". The storyline still isn't oscar-winning stuff, but the mistakes are kept to a minimum and the onboard footage is stunning.

  Answer:-It was an absolutely cheap shot. The ref was looking at him. Most of it occurred after the flag was thrown. The refs have no excuse whatsoever for not ejecting him. Even John Madden, who defended a rather dirty batch of Raiders over the years, thought it should have been a certain ejection.

  Hines Ward laid down some pretty good hits and he didn't get fined nearly as much as James Harrison. I don't think he should of been fined that much.
  
  Answer:-I'm willing to bet the majority of the Harrison Haters on here haven't even seen more than 1 of those hits. Every team in the league has a plyer or two who tackle in a similar fashion. You people who say he gets what he deserves would "LOVE" to have him on your team. If the NFL hates this type of play so much then why is it glorified in highlight films? Why do they show these types of hits during the pre-game hype?

  James Harrison's foul on Aaron Francisco was a dirty hit last night. But a lot of people are saying that Francisco actually did something to Harrison first and Harrison only retaliated. Is that true?
  
  What did Francisco do to Harrison to deserve such treatment? Please don't say nothing. Obviously whatever he did does not excuse James Harrison's conduct, but what was it that actually happened?

  Answer:-Francisco had been trying to take out Harrison's knees all game on punt coverage. On the play in question, Harrison blocked the cut block and held Francisco down and hit him with an open palm on the back, then Francisco put his helmet into Harrison's crotch. Harrison let him up and nailed him with an OPEN PALM. It was not a punch, what Harrison did was completely legal. He never punched, he blocked his man out of the play until the whistle blew.
  
  It looked aggressive on replay, but look in the background, the play is still going on and the whistle not blown. Harrison is doing his job and beating down his opponent, legally.
  
  Admittedly the last block may have been after the whistle, but it was borderline at worst. And it's tough to stop yourself as the whistle is being blown. But the flag was already on thrown before the play was over, even though Harrison did nothing wrong during the play. He just physically dominated a inferior opponent who was trying to play dirty. A flag for a late hit might have been appropriate, but unnecessary roughness it was not.

  James Harrison is the best LB in the NFL.
  
  Answer:-The way people were taught to tackle since even peewee days is not the way he has been tackling. if you tackle someone, light them up, hit them as hard as you want, but let them live to see another down. the NFL has made rules and Harrison breaks them. no matter how you feel about the rules, they are rules, and they have to be followed. it's all about players' safety. I'd hate to see someone lose their career because some bonehead won't follow the rules.

  To me Harrison is the better OLB because he is a more complete player.
  
  Answer:-Hard to argue with that. Harrison is more well rounded than Ware, but if you gave me a choice between the two I'd take Ware because he's more athletic and a better pass rusher. When given a chance he's also been very good in coverage and run support, but he just doesn't get asked to do that as much as Harrison does.
  
  CMIII is a decent pick for #3. Terrell Suggs has a good case though.

The two initially wary strangers soon find they have more in common than either could have anticipated. The subplot concerning Robert's adult daughters is fairly extraneous (and predictable) but doesn't distract from the tender relationship at the heart of this made-for-TV movie.

  Answer:-He is frail (and age 80), but he isn't ill, so he should be around for awhile. He's in pre-production for a movie called The Magic Shoe at the moment.

  Answer:-Opinion: the storyline is simplistic rubbish, the acting is wooden, the number of factual mistakes is quite amazing. However, the saving grace is the footage of the 1966 F1 season. When I watch the film, I fast forward through the dialogue to get to the racing.
  
  The greatest motor racing film ever made for me is "Le Mans". The storyline still isn't oscar-winning stuff, but the mistakes are kept to a minimum and the onboard footage is stunning.

  I have already seen it 2 times it was sooo good. It was the director's first movie he ever wrote and directed and he did an awesome job. LOL, I cannot even count how many times I screamed, it sent chills down my back and there was not even that much blood! These days there are not that many good thrillers but this one reminded my of Funny Games and Vacancy with a 70's thriller/horror vibe and a house filled with 70's antiques and lamps. It is totally a movie worth your buck and what reels you in is the whole concept of "inspired by a true story". I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars and I guarantee good thrills :)

The Strangers was a great movie in my opinion however, it was "inspired by a true story". The Strangers was loosely based on various home invasion murders, including The Manson Murders, and based upon an Austrian couple that was murdered by three teenagers in their vacation home in The Czech Republic.
  
  The True Story Behind the New Movie "The Strangers" is a mixture of three stories.
  
  The killers, a principle male assailant and female accomplices, is based upon Charles Manson and the Manson killings.

  After returning from a wedding reception, a couple staying in an isolated vacation house receive a knock on the door in the mid-hours of the night. What ensues is a violent invasion by three strangers, their faces hidden behind masks. The couple find themselves in a violent struggle, in which they go beyond what either of them thought capable in order to survive.
  
  As the movie continues the young couple staying at a summer retreat are faced with a night of psychological terror and the reality of what will come is more terrifying than anything both could have imagined.
  
  The film begins with two young well-dressed boys happening upon a vandalized property and a bloody crime scene, with a voiceover of a frantic 911 caller, rambling about a gruesome, bloody scene- we actually never see the caller in the movie and no mention is made of her. We are then taken backward and introduced to the two protagonists, James Hoyt (Scott Speedman) and Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler), who appear distraught. They retire to James' remote family vacation home, which James had prepared in advance with a set dinner table and rose petals throughout the living area, bedroom and bathroom. As Kristen takes a bath, she has a flashback to earlier in the evening; at a friend's wedding reception, James had proposed to Kristen, only to be turned down. Given the romantic setup of the home, James obviously assumed Kristen would accept his marriage proposal. Kristen later explains to James that she is not ready. In the meantime, James had called his friend Mike, explaining that things had not gone as planned, and for Mike to come pick him up in the morning.
  
  Moments after they arrive, at 4:05 am, there is a loud knock on the door, which James answers with Kristen right behind him. A young, blonde-haired girl in her late teens to early 20s (Gemma Ward) stands at the doorstep . She says hi and asks, "Is Tamara home?" James, confused, answers no and that the girl has the wrong house, to which the girl replies, "Are you sure?" James replies yes, and we can only assume the girl is one of the assailants, foreshadowed by her saying, "See ya," then walking off. Although strange, both James and Kristen think nothing of it, as James indicates, "People get lost around here all the time."
  
  Shortly after, Kristen mentions she is out of cigarettes, and James volunteers to go buy her a pack, saying he wants to go drive for a while anyway. Moments after he leaves, there is another knock at the door as Kristen sits by the fireplace. Kristen answers, but doesn't open the door, and it is the same girl asking, again, if Tamara is home. Kristen sends her off, and is clearly shaken by this strange occurrence. Then begins the stalking. The fire that James had set for Kristen begins to burn out of control and sets the smoke alarm off, which Kristen removes from the ceiling and places on the floor. During this time, there is rattling around the outside of the home, Kristen grabs a knife, a masked man appears in the background hallway (Kip Weeks) who Kristen does not notice. Kristen's fears are aroused when she sees the smoke detector is sitting on a chair and no longer on the floor. She tries James on her cellphone, but it is dead, so she plugs it in to her charger by the fireplace. She returns to the bedroom to use the landline, calls James, but the call gets cut off soon after. After she comes back out to the living room, she notices her phone is gone. Between random terrifying moments, including a record player being turned on in the living area, Kristen goes back into the bedroom, and then James returns. A frantic Kristen is trying to explain what is happening, and James has difficulty believing her story.
  
  James then steps outside to retrieve his phone, only to see his car windshield has been smashed in. We learn that there are three masked assailants stalking James and Kristen, one guy and two girls. At one point, James and Kristen attempt to leave, and as they get in the car, a truck appears in the background, driven by one of the girls wearing a pin-up girl mask (Laura Margolis), and rams into James' car. The two get out of the car and go back into the house. James finds his father's shotgun and cartridges, enabling the couple to fight back. With all communication and transportation destroyed or cutoff, it is their only hope.
  
  The couple hides out in a back room, and as they're hiding, James' friend Mike shows up. He enters the home, seeing that it is vandalized- the front door has been destroyed with an ax and there is broken glass on the floor. As Mike slowly steps through the house, the man with the mask lurks behind him, wielding an ax. Mike eventually comes into view where Kristen and James are hiding, and assuming that he is one of the assailants, James immediately shoots him in the face with a blast from the shotgun, instantly killing Mike. James and Kristen are horrified- James tells Kristen to find a place to hide and he goes outside to try and call for help using a radio in the barn. While creeping low in the woods outside the home, James sees the Pin-up mask girl come out from the barn. As he aims to fire at the girl, he is attacked from behind by the man in the mask. We hear one loud gunshot and do not know if anyone has been shot or hurt. However, the stalking continues and there is no sign of James for a while, so it is assumed that he has either been killed, or assaulted by the man in the mask.
  
  Kristen then attempts an escape, and as she is running, she falls in a 4 foot ditch and injures herself, now barely able to walk. She climbs out and makes her way to the barn to attempt to call for help; when she finally hears a voice on the other end of the radio, the pin-up girl emerges and begins to smash the radio with an ax. Kristen then desperately makes her way back into the house and hides in a kitchen closet. While hiding, she sees the man in the mask wandering around the home searching around. As he wanders out of sight, the dollface mask girl appears in front of the closet door, frightening Kristen. Kristen comes out of the closet while James, appearing severely beaten, crawls back into the house, yelling for Kristen to run. Kristen makes her way back down to the bedroom, and shortly after she is confronted and slammed into a wall by the man in the mask, just about knocking her unconscious. Kristen makes futile attempts to grab on to the walls as she is being dragged down the hallway.
  
  The next scene, James and Kristen are both seated and tied to chairs, with the three assailants standing over them. The pin-up mask girl draws the shades, revealing daylight. A horrified Kristen asks, "Why are you doing this to us?" The dollface mask girl subtlely replies, "Because you were home" thereby revealing the three assailants as crazed psychos who picked the couple at random. The three assailants remove their masks and place them down, showing their faces to their victims, although the audience does not get a direct look at any of their faces. Kristen is now wearing the engagement ring that James had offered to her, and the couple profess their love for one another, essentially accepting the fact that both of their lives are about to end. James is stabbed in the stomach slowly and methodically, and after him, Kristen is stabbed in the same manner.

I've tried training him by giving him treats as strangers approach but it only works at first. What can I do so that he is more polite around houseguests and with strangers?
  
  Answer:-Your dog seems to think that the entire house is his territory. You should make it clear to him that you are the master. For that, you must first train him in all other aspects like 'sit', 'stay', 'come', 'lie down', etc.
  
  The next step would be to make him used to strangers. Invite friends of yours who are dog-lovers. They will understand the situation more and will have an idea as to how to act around him.
  
  Once your dog gets accustomed to your friend's presence, ask your friend to give him a treat. This way, your dog too gets a friend and he'll be happy to welcome him home the next time!

  Answer:-Just mark them Spam, never open them. If you see the email address you can add it to your blocked address list. From the mail screen over to the right click Options, then Mail Options. Then click Block Addresses. Type the address one at a time into the small box and click Add Block. For now clicking Spam works until blocking takes affect.

  My boyfriend and I are adopting a dog who is nervous around strangers and territorial of his current home. From what we've seen, this mostly manifests itself as either hiding and running away or excessive barking.
  
  As he is coming to a new home and new owners (us) we feel this would be the best time to train him to be quiet and polite to strangers and not to bark at visitors in our home.
  
  We plan to use positive reinforcement/clicker training, as I do not like the idea of negative training and punishments.

  Answer:-(If it were me, this is what I would do- My dog was the same way when we adopted him) At first I would just concentrate on playing with him and giving him lots of love until he is comfortable with you. In the meantime ignore negative actions. Then start giving him little doggie treats whenever he does something you like. The smaller they are the more you can give him! Most dogs bark for attention so I would just ignore it or tell him/her "no." Take him for lots of walks so he can get used to meeting different people and animals. If you have any other pets I noticed it really helps stop territorial behavior to make them share some toys. Or practice giving them a toy and then making sure you can take it away without agressive responces. (Make sure you give it back at the end though =)

  Answer:-Bad things happen to good people. And people behave badly sometimes. I mentioned this once before for another question, but it might help. It is not what happens to us, but how we handle what happens to us that makes our life better or worse. Take 2 drivers, who gets cut off in traffic. the 1st one takes a breath, and is glad there was no accident from that foolish other driver, who was rude, and reckless, or woke up late and was afraid he would get in trouble if he was late again for work. The first driver, puts on the radio, and sings. The 2nd driver, gets mad at almost getting into an accident, and races around to cut off the driver who cut him off. But in doing so the 2nd driver causes the other driver off the road, and he dies. The accident was not caused by the first driver who cut the 2nd driver off, but how the 2nd driver reacted, after he was cut off which was a negative reaction.
  
  As for the people in the secret, I have not heard of the turns in their lives, but we will all have turns in our lives. Some good, and some bad. Have you ever gone backwards, after something happened, good and bad, that you think only by the grace of God, or why me.

On the way to work, a fire truck with lights, and sirens passed me and made me decide to take my other route to work. 5. it was raining, and I was going 10 miles under the speed limit. 6. As I was about 200 yards from intersection, and saw a car stop, I slowed another 10 miles to give more time for the car to pass. The cross traffic had a stop sign I did not. and the driver waited for me. I drove a little faster, still under the speed limit, and noticed another driver coming up to the stop sign when I was 30 feet from the intersection. After she stopped, she drove into the intersection, and I hit her. If I did not wake up late, spill my cooffee, go to the bathroom, take my first route, or drive 5 miles faster. the accident would not have happened.

  people like the detectives, blind who see the world through the sounds are examples of people who are practicing meditation every single minute.
  
  if one wants to win he should first learn to overcome defeat similarly we cannot filter or focus on a select few unless we learn the methodology of focusing on one thought and one thought alone. that is we are asked to start of with focusing on one thought.

  Answer:-Well, since you didn't say what type of artist you are it's hard to say. If you were an illustrator I would say you could look into the Society of Illustrators. There must be groups for your type of art as well if you are in the commercial art field. If you happen to do mosaics there is the Society of American Mosaic Artists and I know that Britain and Australia have similar groups. A simple google search should get you going in the right direction.
