• Question:-What was the biggest reason for Mike Leach's firing from Texas Tech?
  I'm curious as to what the Yahoo community thinks. Was it his (alleged) treatment of Adam James coupled with his family's complaints? Or was it the fact that Mike Leach was due a hefty $800,000 bonus this past Friday? Do you know of another reason? 10 pts for the most thought provoking, grammatically correct answer.
  
  Answer:-The biggest reason is that he stuck to his guns and refused to apologize when they offered him a way out. He refused to back off and allow the school to give something to the media/accusers/etc.
  
  The $800K was a tiny part EXCEPT in how quickly they made the decision. It represents an insignificant (6.7%) part of his nearly $13M contract.
  
  The stage had been set with many incidents over the past year. The shed incident gave them a focal point and his stubbornness pulled the trigger.
• Question:-Question concerning concussions and the allegations against Mike Leach?
  I am aware of the situation concerning Mike Leach and his treatment of injured WR Adam James. However, I am not fully aware of the effects that isolation in an electrical closet or dark room has on a concussed individual. So what makes this treatment so bad that he deserves to get fired? Please help me understand.
  
  Answer:-Sensory Deprivation can be helpful for a concussion. This would be done maybe at home in a dark room in a comfortable chair or in an SD chamber. The stories Leach is putting out now are called "Lawyering Up".
  
  Their purpose is to divert attention from the fact that he was planning on punishing a kid he (Justified or not) didn't like. Perhaps the kid was a goof-off. But, Leach is now trying to protect himself from a lawsuit that his actions have qualified him for quite well.
  
  Coupled with SEVERAL earlier actions that he got away with, this latest action that (while not likely to be dangerous to the kids health) could easily be grounds for criminal prosecution from the articles I have read.

  Answer:-Yeah, I hadn't really thought about that, but it's true. Knight was a coach that made a career out of mistreating others and Texas Tech welcomed him with open arms. It sure seems like there is a double standard in play.

  Everywhere i've looked their has been no mention of whether Mike Leach was ever a position coach. But that doesn't make any sense to me, so has did he start out like most coaches coaching a position?
  
  Answer:-Yes he was the OL coach and OC at Iowa Weslyan and was QB coach at Valdosta St while serving as OC, and I think he was QB coach at KY as well. Most all coordinators will also coach a position.
  
  He got a masters from US Sports Academy after leaving BYU then went on to Pepperdine Law School, his first coaching job was at Cal Poly in San Louis Obispo in 1987, then one year at College of the Desert as an assistant, then went to Euro League, then got his first OC job at Iowa Weslyn.

  I guess I just missed it or didn't care, but I completely missed what happened to get Mike Leach fired.
  
  Answer:-On December 28, 2009, Leach was suspended indefinitely by Texas Tech pending investigation of alleged inappropriate treatment of Adam James, son of former SMU and New England Patriots running back (and current ESPN college football analyst) Craig James. On December 16, James suffered a concussion in practice. He was examined the next day, and told not to practice that afternoon due to the concussion and an abnormally high heart rate. According to a James family source, Leach ordered him to stand in a dark shed near the Raiders' practice facility. Leach also threatened to kick James off the team if he left the shed.[ According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Leach thought that James was faking the injury. School officials gave Leach an ultimatum--apologize to James in writing by December 28 or Leach would be suspended. Leach refused to do so; his attorney, Ted Liggett, said his client didn't dispute the facts, but didn't think he'd done anything wrong.

• Question:-On ESPN radio 12/29 Doug Gottlieb compared the Mike Leach case with a famous broadcaster. Anyone know who?
  He said the broadcaster also had a contentious contract negotiations with his network and so when the next contract was being negotiated, the network dropped him and they said this is similar to what Texas Tech is doing to Mike Leach.   IF James had concussion like symptoms then sticking his butt in a dark room, out of the bright light, is the right thing to do. Why? With concussion type symptoms, people are more susceptible to the light and could possibly make the issue worse.
  
  IMO, Craig James used his media contacts to try and "influence" Mike Leach into playing his son more. When Leach refused, this is when this whole drama filled story came out.
  
  Again, IMO Tech football just took 3 giant steps backwards. Leach should not have been fired, the school was looking for a way out of the contract they gave him. Enter Adam James...

  Answer:-clothing and mattress and furniture. i went to the exact mall when i was on vacation. i bought like three skater shirts and some tight jeans there. and i also remember seeing mattresses and furniture there.

  I just got a job at Macys...they haven't explained the employee discount to me yet, so I need to know. They pay practically nothing (this is by far the lowest I've been paid in my life), and if the discount isn't good I might not go to training. Do I need to use my Macys credit card? What departments don't get discounts? Can I use the discount at sister stores?
  I've previously read that you need to have the credit card to get the discount. I know it's 20% but it doesn't include all departments. If Coach and Movado aren't included, I'm out of there.
  
  Answer:-i worked at macys to and the pay was horrible. the discount works likes this u have the credit card and u can use it anywhere in the store and they take 10% off of your monthly bill.

  Answer:-Nordstrom is awesome! however I work there in sales so I dunno about JUST being a cashier. I do both. If you ever get the chance to work there you should.. mostly because if you leave on good terms you are always welcome back. You can work just holidays or for the sales every year if you really wanted to. They love to hire within so its easy to go to school and come and go for summers and holidays for extra money.

  Answer:-A Coach bag, or a Juicy Couture or a Kate Spade handbag are EXACTLY the same if you buy them from a boutique or a department store. Personally I like to buy them from the place where I can get them for the least amount of money.
  Because of this, I buy nearly all my handbags from eBay. I have very expensive tastes, but a not so expensive budget so I can get very high end bags on eBay for less money. My last purchase was a $695 Isabella Fiore handbag that I paid $219 for! If your not familiar with Isabella Fiore - you must check her out - her bags are works of art!

  I received a food processor/blender for my birthday 5 months ago and I noticed that when I use it, which is seldom, it has a very sharp loud noise. I have seen reviews for it online and it seems that others have encountered the same. I don't even want to use it because of the horrible noise. Can I return it to Macys without a box?
  I used it at most 5 times and it was only the processor part where the bowl was easily cleaned. The item looks Brand New. I have the original receipt.

  Answer:-There is a bit of a difference in the price. you can find all those items there even clothing. I bought a small purse for $99. I dont think i would have been able to get that price any where else. they carring sun glasses scarves jackets brief cases and everything. Good Luck girl! :)

  Answer:-I love the coach outlet stores. There is also one near my house. The bags will range from $40-350. They are authentic bags if you buy them from the Coach outlet store. They cost less because companies often make too many bags every season and they need to get rid of their overstock. They don't want to keep out of season bags at their regular stores next to the brand new designs. As long as you shop at the companies store, authenticity should be guaranteed. Hope that clears it up for you!

  Answer:-No you cannot, the outlet is not in conjunction with the store. You can get discounts at all Coach stores but not Coach Outlets because you don't work at an outlet.

  Answer:-Yes, they are authentic, otherwise it would be illegal. Coach Factory outlets always sell authentic items. They are cheaper because they are from last season and the stores need to clear out inventory to make room for new season items so they send them to the outlet. They also send them to the oultet if there is something wrong with it like wrong sticthing or tagging but its usually not noticeable.

  I got something from a coach outlet for christmas that i didn't like and I wasn't sure if i was even able to return it because it came from the coach outlet and i don't live close to one.

  Answer:-when i saw solo make the comments, i took it as she was critical of a bad coach making a bad decision. i didn't think she meant that scurry was a bad player, we all know she's not. but, solo was the hot hand and scurry had not played in along time. it was just a coach trying to regain control of a team that should have never been his! these players entire lives are built around this sport and the few moments they have to let people see it at it's best, and he took that moment away from the team, as well as solo and the people who watch it. it should be ryan apologizing to the team, solo and the fans that follow this team and the women who live for it. i think she should be disciplined, but not as severely as he is doing being that he will be fired after this next match. solo will and should be back for she has earned the spot as number 1 goalie and despite backlash on her comments, she was right about the soon-to-be ex-coach of the women's team.

  I do not think Luke Fickell is ready to be Head Coach, although he filled the role this year, he did not have the down to the detail preparation that Jim Tressel had. I think Urban Meyer would have the team ready to compete at a high level every Saturday. That is why I think Ohio State will make him an offer, even if he only does it for a couple of years, it will help to get the program back on track, but I hope he signs on to coach for a decade or more. Urban Meyer is only 48 and is still relatively young for a coach.

I think Urban Meyer would have the team ready to compete at a high level every Saturday. That is why I think Ohio State will make him an offer, even if he only does it for a couple of years, it will help to get the program back on track, but I hope he signs on to coach for a decade or more. Urban Meyer is only 48 and is still relatively young for a coach.

  I am a UK fan all the way baby! my favorite player is Jodie Meeks, and has been ever since he was a freshman at UK. Patterson is good down low. UK is doing pretty good this year, but could have been better if Jasper hadn't left.
  
  Answer:-I am a huge UK fan, I love to watch them. UK basketball is my life. I watch every game and my whole Christmas was practically all UK stuff. My favorite players are Jodie Meeks and Patrick Patterson. They are both very talented players. Jodie has an all around game, and Patrick like you said is good down low and a huge inside presence. I miss Derrick Jasper. But, I think DeAndre Liggins is just like him. Do you remember Alex Legion who was supposed to be good and transferred from UK to Illinois in the middle of last season? Perry Stevenson is the unsung hero who gets over looked by many. Perry's a good ball player. I just can't wait for Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins to get more experience. They are the future of UK basketball. Gillispie has some good recruits coming in next year named Daniel Orton, Jon Hood, and GJ Vilarino. I hope Meeks and Patterson come back next year instead of going to the NBA. I Bleed Blue!!!!!

  Answer:-No definitely not. The celtics and lakers, have had much bigger dynasties. Also in college basketball, for this decade it would be duke and UNC.

  I just want to play college basketball and have no intention of going pro, so i cant afford to miss classes of the course i have taken.
  
  SUPPOSE i get selected by one of the colleges to play for them, then would i be missing classes? if yes then how many? will i be able to catch up on missed classes?
  
  Answer:-I'm not intimately familiar with this, as I have never played college basketball.
  However, I believe that the time/travel/practice requirement will vary from university to university.
  For example, at a top-flight college basketball program, there may be more practice requirements and also more travel requirements for tourneys and so forth.
  Also, certain school may place more of a priority on academics for their athletes than other schools. Different school will have different policies on tutoring and missed classes. But all schools are going to recognize that some student athletes may miss class from time to time due to athletic commitments. The univeristy recognizes this, they know what an asset athletics can be to a school, and they will be happy to accomodate you. The accomodation can take the form of tutors, giving you your assignments before-hand, or make up exams/classes. Just be sure to address any missed classes/assignments with the professor. Don't just ignore the class and hope for the best.
  All in all, (assuming you are hard-working and relatively intelligent), you should have no problem playing basketball and thriving academically. Just make sure to discuss this potential issue with the head coach and school administrators before committing to the school. Find out about their policies on student athletes, and do not be afraid to ask questions. Then be prepared to work hard, take classes you enjoy, and you will do great.

  i just wanted to know how to get into college basketball. i live in australia and i dont know alot about it. but do u need like a scholarship?...do u need to go 2 high school in america to get chosen beforehand? please give me as much information as u can. cheers.
  
  Answer:-Well there are several different levels of college ball. You do not have to go to high school in the US for any of them. The one that is the highest level is NCAA D-1.
  
  To play D1 you really need to be recruited because its the toughest to break into. If you have D1 talent and a coach or scout for a school sees you play enough you may be offered a scholarship to play for a program or a coach may offer an opportunity to walk-on and be a part of the team as a non-scholarship player. If you improve your game enough you may be able to get a scholarship a season or two after your freshman year. Here the only requirement for you would be that you can qualify academically for the school you choose.
  
  The next one I'll talk about is NJCAA. This is the junior colleges or 2 year schools. I figured I'd talk about this one next because I know of several australians that played baseball and basketball at the NJCAA school I went to. The overall talent level isn't as high at the NJCAA especially at the D-II and D-III levels but the benefits of going this route are that the academics standards are lower.(Many US players who fail to meet the academic standards out of HS go to JC to improve their grades) and also one huge benefit about going to a JC is you can still receive an scholarship to play basketball at this level. And after your two years if you've played well enough an NCAA team may offer you a scholarship to play for them.
  
  The next level is NCAA D-II and then NCAA D-III. These are also 4year schools like NCAA D-1 however the talent level is significantly lower and there is very little media exposure. The positives are at a D-II you can still receive a scholarship for playing basketball(However D-III does not offer athletic scholarships but there are grants available and you may qualify for an academic scholarship) and alot of these schools are very good schools to get your college degree from. So if getting a good degree is priority for you then there is alot of great D-II and D-III schools to chooe from.
  
  The next level is NAIA. These are usually really small schools and most of them have a religious affiliation. However there are 4yr schools and they can offer atheltic scholarships. NAIA is a completely different organization from the NCAA. And again there is very little media exposure at this level but here again you can play 4 years of basketball and get a degree.
  
  Ways for you to get noticed by coaches would be to play in as many big tournaments as possible(preferably international tournaments) However don't worry if you're not quite good enough to make an international team. The next step would be to make a recruiting packet to send out to coaches of schools you'd be interested in attending. The packet should include a bio, your stats, team info and a video of your performance in games.
  
  Whether your goal is to play in the NBA or another international pro league, to coach, or just for the experience college ball has alot to offer. If you need any more info let me know.

  In college basketball if a player is fould when in the act of shooting, is the shooting foul for 2 free throws no matter how many team fouls have occured?
  
  Answer:-The team fouls don't matter, but the shooter doesn't always get two freethrows because:
  
  If the bucket is made, the player only gets 1 freethrow (referred to as an "and 1").
  
  If the bucket is not made, they get 2 freethrows.
  
  If they were attempting a 3, the shooter would get 3 freethrows.
  
  If the 3 point shooter makes the shot, the shooter gets 1 freethrow for a rare 4 point play.

  When the basketball players arrive the first day of college, but they have to go to the practice on the same day. The college basketball players must be there everyday until the time of games and after the season is over.

  They have tournaments which are single elimination to determine who is the best in the country

  Pro Basketball:

  First of all half of the NBA players that went to these highly known educated schools aren't really well educated, you can tell by their grammar, some of their immaturity, and some of their ghettoness I guess you can say. I know sure as hell some of these players did not get a 4.0 GPA or something, some players did and didn't I know that much.
  
  How do these college basketball players get into these good schools and how are they not overwhelmed by the homework and so on? Do they even have classes? Do they pay someone else to do their stuff for them?
  
  Answer:-because when your really good at basketball you can get scholarships.... the best schools want the best players so the great players get to go to great colleges no matter the grades, a 2.5 is like all you have to have anyway

  Answer:-Um, just a guess...he didn't like what he saw so he never responded.
  
  I'm pretty sure he'd recruit you by looking at HS games ect. Not by a video of drills/skills.

  Answer:-North Carolina #1, Davidson, Texas, Michigan State, Michigan, Oklahoma, and UCLA are some of the top teams. I only put Michigan in there because they beat Duke twice.

  Ok so i am in college, but i dont play for my college's basketball team nor did I try out to be because of an injury. Do u need to play college basketball to declare for the nba draft?
  
  Answer:-Not technically. There are a quite a few players in the NBA who did not even go to college. The NBA has tryouts sometimes you just have to know where they are. If you plan on trying out, good luck!
