  Answer:-Usually it's quite hot, depending on what area of LA you are in. The highs near the beaches can be 20 - 30+ degrees less than the highs in the valleys. We're having a cooler beginning to summer, so no idea what will happen in August. Pack shorts and tshirts and a lightweight hoodie and jeans for the evenings in case it's cool and you'll be fine.

  It is mostly colder than heck here during early April. SoCal is not truly a good place to visit for tans before June 30th and after Sept. 15th. The prime time is 7/15 - 8/31. That's 47 days of sweating in the sun. The tourist guides try to promote the year round lifestyle showing sunshine, but that's not reality here. We don't have weather like Des Moines but it still is too chilly to swim and layout and tan on the local beaches.
  
  Bring your bikinis just in case. Bring your levis, shorts, sandals, tennys and hooded sweatshirts. It is a crapshoot as to what the weather will be at this point in April. March and April are so very unpredictable around here. I worked on the beach and somedays it was so freakin' cold I went home and that was in June!

  Answer:-April hands down. The air is clean, the weather is mild, and everything is still green from the winter rainy season.
  
  Mid May to mid June is usually cloudy and overcast. Late summer can be stifling hot, dry, and dusty.
  
  At my old age spring fever is just one of the many things that don't happen the way it used to.

  You will want to grow warm weather grasses. In your geographic location you can use Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine and Centipede. You could also do a couple of cool weather grasses, such as Tall Fescue and Kentucky Blue Grass. These will all work and you can do seed or sod. Similarly, we are scheduled to fly out of Phoenix at 6:00 AM on October 27th. Is it apt to be that hot so early in the morning?
  
  Answer:-Right now it is 10:00 AM in downtown Phoenix and it is 80 F. The forecast high is 89. We’re having a cold spell. The forecast high is going up each day of the extended forecast and is predicted at 95 on Thursday and 94 on Friday. It is very likely that the temperature could be 85 or above at 9:45 AM on Tuesday if you are talking about the 16th of October and not tomorrow. Unfortunately, our long range forecasts and our averages are suffering from climate change. We have had one of the hottest summers on record this year (and here, it is still summer). The last few days, however, have had way below average temperatures. But all the weather sources say that this is changing and the temps are going back up. But the predictions are sometimes off by a lot. If you’re flying from the east coast, you’re not likely to encounter higher temps before you get here. You shouldn’t have any problem with 6:00 AM on the 27th.   Answer:-January is one of our top rainy months. You are looking at highs of 55-63 and lows around 41-50. There can be some really cold temps if we get freaky weather. I've scraped ice off of my windshield when living right along Mission Bay.
  
  Humidity is really nothing to be concerned about in January. I'd put it around 50% unless it rains then it's 100%
  
  February is usually the wettest month of the year. Temps are like January.
  
  March is weird. It's a transition month like October is. Very unpredictable weather conditions. It could rain for two weeks or high pressure could settle in and it will be in the high 60s and lower 70s. One thing I have noticed about March is that the way it starts is opposite of the way it ends. If it starts out cold it will end up warm. If it starts out dry it will end up wet.
  
  You will have more sunny days than May and June.

  Answer:-The climate of La Jolla California - near San Diego is heavily moderated by the cool Pacific Ocean just to the west. Normal yearly rainfall is only 10 inches, but from April until October, normally there is no rain at all. The sun is out over 70% of the time, but we do have the May Gray June Gloom - which in the mornings is a low deck of clouds, which burns off in the late morning hours.
  Normal highs are in the 60's in January, which is the wettest month of the year, averaging 2 inches.
  Snowfall is as frequent here as it is in Miami - both have seen snow once. The last measurable snow in La Jolla was in 1949, and it was well under an inch. Temperatures rarely go below 40 in the winter, and the last time it went below freezing was over 20 years ago.
  In the summer, it is always sunny, and it never rains - our record rainfall for July is like .2 of an inch.
  Normal highs are in the 70's on the coast, but rapidly rise into the 90's and 100's just a few miles inland.

  I live in a VERY nice complex, and we pay $1600 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit. There are one bedroom units down the street from us that are going for about $900. We live in Point Loma.
  
  If you go south to Chula Vista (the East & West sides are not that horrible -- having lived there I know), you can find decent places for about $1000, and if you head south to Imperial Beach you can find fairly priced places as well (I've lived there too...used to pay $600 for a 2 BR 1 Bath about 7 years ago -- although I'm sure the rents have gone up considerably since then).
  
  It will also depend on where you plan to work and how much commuting you want to do. Gas is a bit more expensive out here, and 20 miles doesn't seem like much to commute, but when you're crawling along at 10 mph it can take a LONG time to get to/from work. So you have to decide whether you want to commute & spend 1/3 of your life in traffic, or pay a bit more for rent.

There is also a good chance of Santa Anna like conditions, which means hot air blowing in off the desert. IMO September-October are the best weather months of the year. November can be a bit tricky. Chance of rain increases and you could get a storm coming in from the north with cold winds. The seasons change here like a light switch. There will be a change in weather patterns and one day it's summer, the next it's fall-winter. This usually happens in November.
  
  San Diego is a great vacation spot: best Zoo in the world, the Wild Animal Park, dozens of museums in Balboa Park, Shedd Aquarium, Sea World, La Jolla, beaches, surfing, sailing, casinos, NFL Football. ML Baseball, etc. You are also close to Disneyland and L.A. Be aware that the ocean temperature is never warm here, It is a northern current and even in the summer, it almost never breaks 70 degrees.

If you're looking for an "average" temperature for Denver maybe somewhere between 50-60F. Because Denver is a major city it is a heat trap, but often by the end of October it will be snowing lightly, or at the very least keep threatening to do it. Colorado likes snowing on Halloween, but snow in October usually doesn't amount to more than two or three inches. Rain is unlikely to be a problem.
  
  Bring clothes that are good for layering. Coloradan weather is very fickle and changes, so it's good to wear layers that you can strip off or add to during the day.

  Answer:-Here's your Denver answer, use what you can of it, and do the french translation since I can only remember a few simple words and phrases.
  
  In Denver you have to be prepared and dress in layers cause the weather can change in 5 minutes from one extreme to another - regardless of the season or time of year. It can be very cold in the morning, and very hot at night, and vice versa. We've had snow for Easter. We've had snow on Memorial Day weekend (for real!). We've had hot spells in January where it was 70 degrees Farenheit. So the weather in Denver is usually unpredictable! Being in the mile high city also means that a few inches of snow will melt over the course of a day and be gone the next day - and it also means we can get an unexpected blizzard and have most of the city shut down. May is usually a rainy month here, but we did start the month with snow after a few days of 75 degree F weather.

  Answer:-Generally it is a toss up in Denver - some days in winter, fall, and spring will be chilly, some will be downright freezing, some you won't need a jacket - spring and fall are really funny, one day you are in short sleeves, the next a coat and gloves, then 2 days later, back to the short sleeves - nights between November and April are generally cold.
  Summer you can get beautiful days in the 80's or 20 days straight over 100. It's so hard to say here - they always give you a percentage of what the chance of having a cold or hot or rainy day - not a real forecast.

  When schools are closed how does the school board know what counties to close? If your county is not closed and it should be what can you do to report it?
  
  Answer:-For most of us in the northeast, it is done town by town. Anyways, the school board knows what counties to closed based on weather conditions and road conditions that are then reported to each school district. If the weather and/or road conditions are bad, then school will be closed. If a county or school district is not closed and should be close, then you can email the school district or call up the superintendent to notify them that the weather conditions are too severe for school to be open. Generally, you can't do nothing to report it because it is based on the superintendent to close school. You can provide some insight into your thinking, but when it comes right down to it, it the head of the district that determines if school should be closed. Sometimes, the bus drivers and/or teachers may say that they are unable to drive or are not willing to drive because of weather conditions on the roads. When that happens the superintendent is forced to close schools. It has happened before in my district.

  Answer:-I live in florida, and here we have "Bad Weather days." If we have any kind of severe weather -like a tropical storm- that is scheduled to hit during school hours, we don't have school. During the hurricanes that hit a few years ago (like Charley and Frances) we didn't have school for weeks at a time!

  Answer:-I bought myself a pair of Salomons last year. They're heavenly on a cold day. They're also waterproof, which comes in handy.
  
  Wellies are good for rainy days, but I wouldn't wear them to protect from the cold. That's not what they're intended for.
  
  Whatever you end up buying, please make sure that you get something with a good sole. It can be icy here and you'll want to minimize the amount of times you fall on your butt.

  Answer:-Having lived in both here is my view: winters are much colder in Chicago and do last longer. Be prepared for really cold weather and buy long johns. Spring and fall are the same but summer can be better in Chicago if you live downtown and don't get the humidity the burbs gets. The wind blows nicely to keep the city cooler but the burbs are humid. NYC seems humid, subways especially, but this depends on where you are.
  All said, NYC is more even. Oh and the reason it's called the windy city is because of the politics, not the wind. Chicago always seems to have more wind tunnels downtown than NYC too.

  Answer:-Intersting that you ask that. The thinking behind academics is that the markets are efficent and data will affect the stock market. But there is something called the cloudy day effect, which says that on cloudy day, markets dont perform well. There is also a hem line effect. When the fashion designers decrease the hem line of a skirt, markets typically perform well. There is also a january effect, which says that small cap stocks out perform in month of january.

ALSO, the Record highs are very similar. In NYC it is 106, as well as in Tallahassee, Florida.

I am from NJ, and I'll tell ya, nobody thinks 30 degrees is warm! Of course 50 degrees is more comfortable!

  I am a Southern Californian and for my honeymoon in November 2011, my fiance and I are planning to visit New York City, Boston, and Salem. I am very excited about our trip as we have never visited the east coast. However I am wondering, how is the weather in these places in November? Obviously I know it will be somewhat cool, but does it rain much? Any chances for snow?
  
  Answer:-November is a changable month. Temperatures can range from the 20s to the 70s. Boston is usually 5 - 6 degrees F colder than New York; Salem another degree or two colder still. A lot depends on what part of the month you are coming. It can always snow but because most winter storms are "nor'easter" ocean storms with easterly winds and the Atlantic has not cooled off enough yet the really bad snowstorms usually hold off until mid-December or later. In Boston it usually precipitates every 3 or 4 days throughout the year; mostly frontal showers and thunderstorms from June until September and cyclonic storm systems otherwise (although southeastern New England has experienced the season's first nor'easter just this week, about a month or so early).
  
  Too bad you are not getting married a month earlier so you could see the spectacular New England foliage.
  
  A couple of romantic honeymoon tips: (1) If you are renting a car instead of driving from N.Y. to Boston via I-95 all the way drive instead on I-495 through Long Island and then take the ferry. This will also allow you a day of wine tasting from Riverhead through the Long Island North Fork; the eastern USA's best wine appellation (I am assuming this would be of interest to a Californian and (2) instead of staying in Salem stay at a B&B in Rockport, at the tip of Cape Ann about 20 miles to the northeast. Rockport will remind you of Monterey, except that it is nicer. There is direct train service

  not go to downtown Lexington and Concord so if you wish to see the historic Revolutionary and Transcendendalist sites there a one day car rental will be necessary.
  
  If you have the time consider adding a day in Providence or a day in Portland, Maine.
  
  Another assumption about you being Californians: that you will want to eat lobster. Do not order it at a regular or fine restaurant, you will be ripped off! Go instead to a "seafood shack" sort of place.

  Answer:-We have a saying in Texas that if you don't like the weather then wait a few minutes and it will change. That is true. The months you listed are our "rainy season" but not necessarily our cold season. Bring a jacket, a sweater and a few warm clothes in case we have a freak cold snap. It can be anywhere from 40 to 80 degrees. Usually it is fairly mild and pleasant but we can occasionally have a really cold spell so be prepared.

  Houston gets tornadoes, but it happens more often in surrounding counties. Houston has also been known to get Hurricanes, but Houston hasn't had one recently. Hurricane Rita last year didn't even come near Houston. If you live near Galveston they have the more likelihood to have a hurricane by the time it would make to Houston it would be a tropical storm in most cases.

  The weather is pretty sucky during late spring and the summer. Get ready for hot, humid days, and in the early spring we are swarming with mosquitoes!
  
  However it is great beach weather, and if you are an indoor person, you won't even notice it. The weather during the rest of the year is perfect. We do have an increased chance of tornadoes compared to the rest of the country, but it is much lower than places like Dallas or Oklahoma.
  
  The only thing that is worth worrying about is hurricanes which aren't that common. You might have a real scare once in two years, but most of the time the end up to be nothing. In fact Hurricane Ike which hit us last year was the first hurricane in like 4 years. And if you ask me, they are better than earthquakes. Hurricanes can be predicted.
  
  As for the job market, it's actually a bit better than the rest of the country.

  Answer:-Houston weathercasters must have some of the easiest jobs in the country. From April through October it's always the same:
  
  "Hot. Humid. Chance of rain." Over and over and over.
  
  California is the realm of microclimates so it's hard to generalize. However, Houston is FOR SURE MUCH MUCH MUCH more humid. Compared to Los Angeles, Houston is very hot and very humid. Compared to San Francisco...well, it's like going from the refrigerator directly into rice cooker.

  Answer:-seriously, the weather is very unpredictable. we get our first snow in about september, and then the last one in may. but then mixed in with all the snow in the winter is 70 degree days in january. in the summer (especially july) it rains daily at about 3:00 pm with thunder and lightning. it's not humid at all (people complain if it gets above 25% humidity). but yes, there is a very drastic change from day to night. even if it gets to 90 degrees during the day, it'll drop at least to 60 at night.
  some other info: not much crime. district 20, 38, and 12 schools are great! 11 and 49 are overcrowded and have some sub-standard schools and teachers. i'm not sure which part you're coming to so i can't really tell you anything about a specific school... but i've lived here for half my life so anything else you want to know just ask!

Colorado does get cold in the winter time, they are not humid ever, usually, depends on which part of Colorado you go to, the eastern portions can get a dry line that brings dew points to the 50's, but no where near the 60's and 70's you are used too. Denver is pleasant in the summer, only a few days reach 100, and it's a pleasant dry heat. If you are in the mountains, expect cool summers, 80's usually, 40's for lows. Winter's good luck anywhere in Colorado, record lows have dipped all the way down to -60 before...I've never felt that, but if you spit, it will be a ball of ice before it hits the ground.

Others will eat your neighbor's yards - and houses too, if you let them.

  Answer:-We have four distinct seasons. Spring is best. It starts late March and runs until about June 1. Temperatures will generally be in the 50's to 70's, with rain at least once per week. Today it is cool and 61 degree. By Sunday it is supposed to reach 90 degrees. After June 1 and up to July 4 summer sets in but it is generally not too hot. Highs will be in the '80's to 90 degrees. Once July 4 hits, and at least through the end of August it is hot (90+/-) and humid. Good weather to hit the swimming pool. Fall in St. Louis gets underway in September and lasts to end of November. It is beautiful with a lot of great colors. Generally the highs are in the 40's to 60's and it is dry. Winter sets in during December and stays with us until late March. It is cool to cold (highs in the 30-40 range with some subzero days. We have 3-4 snows per winter but usually not more than 3-4" of snow.

  I find it amazing that just 220 miles over non mountanious terrain, just futher north could play such a hug difference in temperature readings. Are these two cities in between an area where cold weather goes to die? St. Louis has an average January temperature only two degrees warmer than Pittsburgh! Memphis has a January average that is just one degree cooler than Dallas! We are only talking 220 miles between these cities of Memphis and Saint Louis. I live in Corpus Christi Texas, and a good example of 220 miles north of here is Austin, Texas. Austin has a similiar climate to Corpus Christi, although it is a few degrees colder, there really is not much difference between the two cities climate - both are hot and humid.

You may start the day off thinking it will be cold, only to find yourself sweating in a light jacket by noon. And the exact opposite can happen too. If you're looking for an "average" temperature for Denver maybe somewhere between 50-60F. Because Denver is a major city it is a heat trap, but often by the end of October it will be snowing lightly, or at the very least keep threatening to do it. Colorado likes snowing on Halloween, but snow in October usually doesn't amount to more than two or three inches. Rain is unlikely to be a problem.
  
  Bring clothes that are good for layering. Coloradan weather is very fickle and changes, so it's good to wear layers that you can strip off or add to during the day.

  In Denver you have to be prepared and dress in layers cause the weather can change in 5 minutes from one extreme to another - regardless of the season or time of year. It can be very cold in the morning, and very hot at night, and vice versa. We've had snow for Easter. We've had snow on Memorial Day weekend (for real!). We've had hot spells in January where it was 70 degrees Farenheit. So the weather in Denver is usually unpredictable! Being in the mile high city also means that a few inches of snow will melt over the course of a day and be gone the next day - and it also means we can get an unexpected blizzard and have most of the city shut down. May is usually a rainy month here, but we did start the month with snow after a few days of 75 degree F weather.
