a christmas story

  • Question:-How do I tell the Christmas Story to Kindergarteners?
I was assigned a project for my Bible class where I have to teach the Christmas/Nativity story to a Kindergarten class. Any ideas on how I can tell it at their level and keep their attention?

Answer:-Get a children's book with nice pictures and the story told in simple words. You can read and stop to show the pictures. Have one for my grandchildren they love it.

Answer:-What Child Is This? by Caroline B Cooney

    From School Library Journal

"A heart-tugging story with an upbeat ending, told in alternating chapters by the young people involved. Eight-year-old Katie, an emotionally starved foster child, writes a wish on a paper bell that will be hung on a Christmas tree in a local restaurant. There, members of the community can choose a request and give a gift to a needy child. However, Katie doesn't ask for toys or clothing?she wishes for a family. Although the social worker says her request is inappropriate, Matt, a high school student who lives in the same foster home and works in the restaurant, hangs the bell on the tree. Liz, Matt's classmate, is upset when her uncaring father reads the wish, calls it ridiculous, and tears up the bell. Meanwhile, Liz's older sister struggles with her grief over the recent death of her baby. When Matt tells Katie on Christmas Eve that her wish will not come true, the devastated girl runs out into a blizzard, setting off a chain of events that brings about a resolution befitting a holiday tale."

I need to write a short Christmas story or poem for my school. It's for a club I'm in called Young Authors. For every major holiday we make a booklet filled with short stories, poems, and songs that we write. I'm looking for some good ideas for mine. I don't want whole stories, just ideas.

mike mcqueary

  • Question:-What did Mike McQueary do when he saw the child abuse?
I am a little confused regarding the Penn State story. Mike McQueary allegedly walked in on a child rape. Did he stop it or did he just walk and left the child alone with out Sandusky? And why didn't he call the police or took the child to it's parents. It is very disturbing to me to think that the child thought it was safe when he walked in but didn't get help. Thank you for clarifying.
Most important question. Did he stop the abuse or did he just walk out?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Should Mike McQueary go to jail for not notifying police of the Penn State child rape?
McQueary saw it all firsthand. A 10 year old boy was getting butt-drilled in the shower by Sandusky.
McQeary told a football coach (Paterno) and his father about the incident but said nothing at all to the police. Shouldn't there be a law against that type of silence? What the f__k was he thinking?
First Responder: Where'd you look it up? Can I get the link?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Penn State is going to fire Mike McQueary but not until after National LOI Signing Day, agree?
McQueary is their chief recruiter. They're trying to hold onto their recruits/commits.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Why has Penn State not fired Mike McQueary?
He will be coaching this Saturday and that is the biggest crock of bullchit! He was an adult when he witnessed a crime being committed against a child. Instead of immediately calling the police he called his father?? He waited a day to even call Paterno! He could have ended this whole situation THAT NIGHT by calling 911 and NOT leaving a child in the clutches if a monster!

This fool is MORE TO BLAME than Paterno! Why is he still employed by Penn state?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-True or False, the only honorable thing Mike McQueary could do now would be to kill himself?

  • Question:-Will Mike McQueary be fired too?
We need help on our WR coaching staff

Answer:-He didn't even try to stop that monster Sandusky from raping a child. He needs to go.
  • Question:-Why does Mike McQueary still have a job and Joe Paterno does not?
This man DISCOVERED the perp raping a boy in the showers. Instead of calling 911 on the scene he called his father and waited a day to even report it to Paterno! He should have been the FIRST one to do something about this whole situation. He should have never left the child, he should have stayed and called the police. He should have been the first one to DO SOMETHING!

Why does this fool still have a job yet the media, public, and University make Joe Pa the sole fall guy?
The higher ups don't have a job still and rightfully so. McQueary, as far as I know, is still coaching on Saturday. That is BULLSH-IT!

everytime I go onto the yolo county jail website there is no place to look up an inmate so where do I go?

  • Question:-I need information about attempting to get legal guardianship in Yolo County, California?
I need info on how to get legal guardianship of my unborn grandchild, whose mother is in jail, and I anticipate that she will be in custody when the child is born. I do not want CPS to take my grandchild. What do I do first? Is it necessary that I obtain an attorney? If so, I would like to find someone that is either free or low cost. What Is the length of time that this will take?? The baby is due in 10 weeks!

Answer:-yes here what has to happen the mother of the child would have to give you guardianship of child. here how you do you have to hire a attorney. what you do have the mother of child she has to sign over guard ship to the child to you. then the lawyer can write up guarder ship papers. Once that done you have guarder ship of the child you may have to go to court but it all what the best interest of the child. It be a court battle deciding what is best for the child either you get you the child or he/she might go in frostier care I just preparing you for the worse and hope for the best. I believe you may be able to get a lawyer pro bro no I don't know or low cost. ponder

  • Question:-Is it silly to ponder deeply and appreciate every scenario you enter?
Ok, lets say you go to a movie, and you ponder deeply about it's message..
And then you meet a few aquaintances for lunch and you notice the way the tables or the food is aligned.
And then you appreciate that you're outside in bustling surroundings with two potential friends.
And while you're walking back you take in the breeze of the night?

..does anyone do that, or planning to? Is it silly?
Cos I know alot of people shut off their thinking and emotions in daily life. Are we missing messages this way?

Answer:-This is a great way to live, finding the beauty in a flower growing by the road, or a bird singing in the trees, you are enjoying life's little wonders, try to remain on this path, it helps with life's problems and you see that what you think is a major problem is really only small and can be solved.....
  • Question:-Who else thinks Christian Ponder was a good pick for Vikings?
He's crazy accurate, and best QB available for the West Coast offense. Everyone says he killed at the combine with interviews and played well in the Senior bowl. We can trade or Mcnabb and sit Ponder for a year or so. I say good pick.

Answer:-I don't think he was as he was a very average football player last year in College. There were several picks that went in the second round that were better than him including Andy Dalton.
  • Question:-Easiest way to Heathrow Airport from Ponder's End with two huge luggages?
What is the cheapest way to get to Heathrow with two large luggages from Ponder's End? I know some tube stations are wheelchair accessible (so is Heathrow), but the closest to me would be Oakwood, which is not, and I'd be clumping my luggages down the stairs to the platform.

Answer:-Take a taxi. This is for sure the easiest thing to do, and quite frankly one of the only options with a lot of luggage. It will cost a little more but it will save you a mountain of headaches. If you must take the tube, try to transfer as little as possible and don't travel during rush hour.
  • Question:-Is it time to begin the Christian Ponder experience in Minnesota?
While I don't blame it all on Mcnabb, the ugly truth is the team is still 0-2. Why not go with Ponder now and get him the experience and reps he needs going fwd. Look at Newton, Dalton, and now Gabbert. He needs to start!

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Is it usual for teenagers to ponder over sexuality and become very anxious?
Is it usual for teenagers to ponder over sexuality and become very anxious?

    Answer:-Yes.
  • Question:-Will Christian Ponder be a frontrunner for the Heisman next year?
If FSU has a defense next year, do you think Christian Ponder will be a possible Heisman contender?

    Answer:-Jacory Harris, Miami
    Christian Ponder, FSU
    Mark Ingram, Alabama
    Jeremiah Masoli, Ore
    Matt Barkley, USC
  • Question:-What films make us ponder on our existence?
Not exactly existentialist movies, but movies that actually make you think "what are we?" what is our purpose of living. because some films can also be described existentialist because they focus on the condition of human life. that's not what i'm searching for because it doesn't interest me. what films actually ponder on the meaning of our existence and the meaning of our life?

Answer:-Two come to mind: 2001 Space Odyssey and Contact....but that's just me.
  • Question:-Should it be against the law for non-scientists to ponder the origins of existence?
They just come up with wacky religions and sky daddy explanations, then try to force us all to follow them. I think it's dangerous for less intelligent people to ponder questions so heavy.

Answer:-well smarty pants all that science mumbo jumbo don't mean nothin' cuz God says hizself in the good book how it all happened and thatz all there is to it!

Ifn ye ask me we can just stop all this riten books n' such cuz ain't no body needs to know all that stuff anyways.
  • Question:-Even though the Vikings took Ponder in the first round, should they go after Kevin Kolb?
A friend and I have debated this since the draft. I am believer in putting this kid in from day 1 and let him learn on his own. He wants Mcnabb or Kolb, more leaning towards Kolb.

What do think a Veteran(like we always do) or put Ponder in and see what the kid can do?
Plese don't assume because I want to start the kid that agreeing with me will get BA. Best argument gets it!

Answer:-I think the plan should be to start Ponder from day 1 and if he doesn't work out, make a midseason trade to acquire a veteran quarterback like Kolb or McNabb. I agree with you, and I don't want/need BA. The Vikings sound pretty confident about Ponder so I think they should reflect that confidence on him by making him the starter.
  • Question:-I ponder, if it is possible for a child (born) in Canada, to get Canadian citizenship, while none of the paren?
I ponder, if it is possible for a child (born) in Canada, to get Canadian citizenship, while none of the parents has Canadian resident permit (or citizenship) and they are there for some business purpose.
Will the child automatically get the Canadian citizenship?

Answer:-Yes. The child could easily get citizenship then. But that is not considered a foot in the door for the parents to become citizens. Also, customs officials tend to be suspicious of a woman, who is far along in pregnancy, traveling into Canada. If you cannot provide an extremely valid reason for the trip, the money to cover the cost of staying here for the duration of her pregnancy, and the money it will cost for medical services to deliver said baby, prenatal and postnatal care, its likely the pregnant woman will not be allowed entry. Not to mention many airlines do not allow women pregnant past 32-35 weeks to travel by plane, and the airlines that do, usually require a physicians note. Many people would love to have their baby born into Canadian citizenship, hoping it will also give themselves access. It does not work that way. Check the links.

lra

  • Question:-How many (child) soldiers of the LRA have been killed?
I've designing a poster about child soldier deaths within the LRA, but I can't seem to come across any information about casualties /within/ the LRA. Information about deaths of civilians is readily available, but I need actual statistics about how large of a percent of the abducted children within the LRA have been killed.

Answer:-Do you actually believe the LRA keeps track of and releases such info?
  • Question:-How does the war in Uganda (against the LRA) affect the United States and Americans?
Info on how we are directly affected and why we should help end the fight against the LRA....

Answer:-Americans protect human rights as one of the proponents of the UN. Thus, any atrocities committed in the war in Uganda affect the Americans although not as important as a war involving Israel.
  • Question:-What is the most recent event you know about the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army)?
I'm doing a human rights project for World Studies, and my topic is the LRA. I'm trying to find out what their most recent event is. I already know about the 'Christmas Massacres' article that took place in the end of December to the beginning of January (2008-09). Could you guys (and you girls) help me out please?

Answer:-look at bbc work news or JSTOR
i have does indepth research on this topic but i have no recent info except that the congo which was work the the un was trying to push out the lra, however the lra does have a large presnce in the sudan and of course uganda. the lra had been lined to other rebel groups in and near eastern provence of the congo. recently uganda has had many confrontations with the congo on this matter because their lack of action. however theya re also being link with rebel interhweme and hutu grous (sorry my spelling!) check the un mission tot he congo, there is more info on there
    good luck
  • Question:-should the united states help fight against the LRA in Uganda?
    ...if so...
what are the pros and cons of the united states helping?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Where do Ugandan LRA rebels get their weapons?
I saw a huge Invisible Children Rescue rally tonight about child soldiers in Africa, and it really moved me. However, I don't know much about the situation, so I'm trying to learn more. My question is -- I know the rebels loot villages, but where do they get weapons from? Do they loot them also? Does someone sell it to them? If yes, who? Where do the rebels get the money to buy them? Does someone finance them? Why?
    Thanks!

Answer:-Groups like this are self-financing via kidnapping and robbery. Weapons are easy to buy in the 3rd world. The army and police sell weapons out the back door. In evil cultures, children are ideal assassins, easy to train and enthusiastic.
  • Question:-How does Turkmenistan feel about the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army)?
If someone could point me to a link or just tell me, I'd be truly grateful!

    Answer:-why would it care?
the LRA is thousands of kilometers away
  • Question:-Someone have shop online with LRA enterprise ?
I want to buy a Nintendo Wii from they, but I don't find any reviews about this site.

Answer:-try amazon.com they should have it
  • Question:-Does having been in a mental hospital or on LRA show up on a background check for an apartment?
considering you have to go to court and it is a legal matter..

Answer:-Mental hospitals are completely confidential. Police can't even find out if you have been there without a court order.
  • Question:-Why is NO country helping out in Uganda where the LRA is killing thousands of people?
    read this article in Newsweek.

Answer:-Uganda is in Africa. We put so much aid into Africa fighting AIDS and diseases and educating them about the diseases, only to have some of the tribes in Africa to purposefully transmit AIDS (not kidding!) It's some ritual and whatnot where they purposefully give another person AIDS. We don't have any more money to give them to help them with the killing going on. Do you not watch the news on how we spend so much on the Iraq war and trying to get our economy recovered. We are hurting ourselves, how could we possibly give anymore money to an area where it won't make one bit a difference?

We can't financially support every hurting country in this world.

  • Question:-How do you feel about Obama's decision to send 100 troops to Uganda to combat the LRA?

Answer:-Good move. They’re about as evil as it gets. They’ve done horrific things to the women and children there. Horrific. They’re savages, even though Rush Limbaugh likes to defend them as ‘christians.'

  • Question:-How rare is it for Tay Sachs disease to start to manifest later in life?
My sister was tested positive for Tay Sachs and my mother decided to carry her to term and but for some reason she never began to show the symptoms of it as a small child like everyone expected. She's 17 now and very bright and seems perfectly normal. The doctors think the symptoms will probably start up eventually though. How rare is late onset Tay Sachs disease and does anyone who has it ever not start to show symptoms at all?

Answer:-She just doesn't have the infantile form of it. The late onset type is nonfatal (great news there!) but often these people have neurodegenerative issues... so she will probably end up not being able to walk on her own. And there are a whole slew of neurological issues that are not great that go along with it (cognitive decline, psychological issues, speech and swallowing issues, etc).

Either way, she really needs to consider getting genetic testing done on her partner if she ever decides to have children. Although it's very uncommon, if her partner is a carrier, they have a 25% chance of having a child with the disorder. She's young, but she needs to think about this NOW.

EDIT - btw, it's VERY rare to get the non-infantile forms of it. The disease is rare to begin with, but her form is even more rare.
  • Question:-What should be a bio ethical decision for parents to make if their child has Tay Sachs disease?
Tay Sachs has no cure and a child could die when they are around 4 or 5. what are some possible decisions for me as a parent to make?

    Answer:-http://www.djhomepage.com/

This disease is awful and I am sorry you are and your family are going through this. If the baby is already here you just have to give it the best life possible. If the baby is still a fetus you can terminate. No one can make that decision other than you and your spouse because children with this horrible disease go blind, deaf, can't swallow, eat and are in severe pain. It is an ethical decision because is it right to make a child suffer.

The website listed above is a true story and how I first heard of the disease. I personally have not had any experience with it.
  • Question:-What kinds of tests are available to check for Tay-Sachs disease?
My husband is of eastern european jewish decent... I am not. Do both parents have to be carriers for this to be a concern? Has anyone gone through the testing for Tay-Sachs? What does it involve? Thanks!

Answer:-Hi! I am a Tay Sachs carrier, so I understand what you are dealing with. 1 in 55-60 Ashkanazi (Eastern European Jews) are carriers of Tay Sachs. This is only becomes a problem if both parents are carriers, as both parents need to give the bad gene (you have 1 good copy and one bad copy if you are a carrier) to the child in order for them to have Tay Sachs. People who are white and are not French Canadian, Cajan, or Ashkanazi Jews have a 1/250 chance of being a carrier of Tay Sachs.
Your doctor can do a simple blood test to rule out you being a carrier of Tay Sachs, although genitists (doctors who specialize in genetic disorders) will tell you that your partner should be tested as he is the one who is most likely going to be the carrier. Most OB/GYN's test the mother even if it is the father who is the one who is more likely to be a carrier as you are his/her patient and your partner is not. Depending upon your insurance you may choose to be screened for other genetic problems like Cystifc Fibrosis, or Nieman Pic. Even if you and your husband are carriers you can still have children if you use a Reproductive Endocronologist.
  • Question:-What are the causes and symptoms of “Tay-Sachs disease”?
What are the causes and symptoms of “Tay-Sachs disease”?
Is it common for a particular population?
What is the Prognosis & Prevention of it?

    Answer:-Causes and symptoms:
Tay-Sachs is caused by a defective gene. Genes are located on chromosomes, and serve to direct specific development / processes within the body. The genetic defect in Tay-Sachs disease results in the lack of an enzyme, called hexosaminidase A. Without this enzyme, gangliosides cannot be degraded. They build up within the brain, interfering with nerve functioning. Because it is a recessive disorder, only people who receive two defective genes (one from the mother and one from the father) will actually have the disease. People who have only one defective gene and one normal gene are called carriers. They carry the defective gene and thus the possibility of passing the gene and / or the disease onto their offspring.
When a carrier and a non-carrier have children, none of their children will actually have Tay-Sachs. It is likely that 50% of their children will be carriers themselves. When two carriers have children, their children have a 25% chance of having normal genes, a 50% chance of being carriers of the defective gene, and a 25% chance of having two defective genes. The two defective genes cause the disease itself.
A few variations from this classical progression of Tay-Sachs disease are possible:
•Juvenile hexosaminidase A deficiency. Symptoms appear between ages two and five; the disease progresses more slowly, with death by about 15 years.
•Chronic hexosaminidase A deficiency. Symptoms may begin around age five, or may not occur until age 20-30. The disease is milder. Speech becomes slurred. The individual may have difficulty walking due to weakness, muscle cramps, and decreased coordination of movements. Some individuals develop mental illness. Many have changes in intellect, hearing, or vision.

COMMON : Tay-Sachs disease is particularly common among Jewish people of Eastern European and Russian (Ashkenazi) origin. About one out of every 3,600 babies born to Ashkenazi Jewish couples will have the disease.

Prognosis: Sadly, the prognosis for a child with classic Tay-Sachs disease is certain death.

Prevention: Prevention involves identifying carriers of the disease and providing them with appropriate information concerning the chance of their offspring having Tay-Sachs disease. When the levels of hexosaminidase A are half the normal level a person is a carrier of the defective gene. Blood tests of carriers reveals reduction of Hexosaminidase A.
  • Question:-Tay-Sachs disease is a recessive genetic disorder that in America predominantly affects people with Eastern ?
European Jewish ancestry and causes fatal brain damage before the age of five. A man who is heterozygous for Tay-Sachs marries a woman who is also heterozygous for Tay-Sachs. What are the potential genotypes and phenotypes of their offspring? What percentage of their offspring could be expected to suffer from this disease?

    Answer:-genotype:TT,2Tt,tt
    phenotype: 1:3
    %=25%
  • Question:-Can Tay Sachs disease be detected while a fetus is in utero?
My friend and I are doing a project for health class and we need to know if the genetic disease Tay Sachs disease can be detected in a baby while it is still in the womb. thanks.

Answer:-Genetic disorders such as Tay-Sachs disease, sickle-cell anemia, and thalassemia meet these criteria, and screening tests are commonly done to identify carriers of these diseases. In addition, screening tests may be done for individuals with family histories of Huntington's disease (a degenerative neurological disease) or hemophilia (a bleeding disorder). Such screening tests can eliminate the need for more invasive tests during a pregnancy.

  • Question:-If Jewish is only a religion, how come only Jewish people get Tay Sachs?
I wondered about the disease called Tay Sachs and what percentage of the european Jewish population carries the gene?My grandfather was German Jewish and he was born in 1899,before there was any real outside converts to Judaism.Does that make me a carrier of that disorder,or what are the chances that I am?I also heard that prior to the 20th century,Jews did not mix with other people, thus enhancing my belief that they are a race. So,can anyone tell me how this works?

Answer:-First off Jews are not the only ones who get Tay sachs.
Both my parents are Jewish as am I. I had a test and I am not a carrier.

It's carriers are from a certain part of the world.
    Try a little research.
    http://www.tay-sachs.org/taysachs_disease.php

Many people now get tested and would choose not to give life to a child who will spend several years dying in pain .
  • Question:-Tay Sachs....?
Is this disease cause by a dominant allele , recessive alleles, extra chromosome or is is sex linked?
What does it do the the affected person?

Answer:-I think it's recessive alleles. Both parents must be a carrier.
Infants with Tay-Sachs disease appear to develop normally for the first six months of life. Then, as nerve cells become distended with gangliosides, a relentless deterioration of mental and physical abilities occurs. The child becomes blind, deaf, and unable to swallow. Muscles begin to atrophy and paralysis sets in. Death usually occurs before the age of 4 or 5.
Extremely rare, Juvenile Tay-Sachs disease usually presents itself in children between 2 and 10 years of age. They develop cognitive, motor, speech difficulties (dysarthria), swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), unsteadiness of gait (ataxia), and spasticity. Patients with Juvenile TSD usually die between 5–15 years.
A rare form of the disorder, known as Adult Onset Tay-Sachs disease or Late Onset Tay-Sachs disease (LOTS), occurs in patients in their 20s and early 30s. LOTS is frequently misdiagnosed, and is usually non-fatal. It is characterized by unsteadiness of gait and progressive neurological deterioration. Symptoms of LOTS, which present in adolescence or early adulthood, include speech and swallowing difficulties, unsteadiness of gait, spasticity, cognitive decline, and psychiatric illness, particularly schizophrenic-like psychosis. Patients with LOTS frequently become full-time wheelchair users in adulthood, but many live full adult lives if psychiatric and physical difficulties are accommodated. Psychiatric symptoms and seizures can be controlled with medications.
  • Question:-Tay sachs?
Who carries this gene and where does it come from?

Answer:-Tay-Sachs disease is caused by mutations on the HEXA gene on chromosome 15. These mutations reach significant frequencies in several populations. It is most common in Ashkenazi (Eastern European) Jews. Many Cajuns of southern Louisiana carry the same mutation. French Canadians of southeastern Quebec carry a different mutation.
  • Question:-Amniocentesis reveals that an embryo has Tay-Sachs disease. What are the genotypes of the parents if they a?
Amniocentesis reveals that an embryo has Tay-Sachs disease. What are the genotypes of the parents if they appear normal (t = Tay-Sachs)?
this is college level need help.

    Answer:-Sorry it's not a college level answer.
The problem is caused by an autosomal recessive allele which fails to code for beta-hexosaminidase A.
If both parents have the normal phenotype, they must both be carriers of the allele, having the genotype Tt
The Punnett square for this cross yields 1 TT : 2 Tt (carriers) : 1 tt (Tay Sachs sufferer)
