  Answer:-If I have luggage, I prefer to get a cart and just walk over. I don't like having to lug heavy bags on and off the shuttle bus. The walk is an easy stroll as long as you have a cart. If I don't have luggage, then I start walking and jump on the shuttle if I see it coming.

  Answer:-There's a shuttle bus between the terminals that runs every 12 to 15 minutes. You want to take the A shuttle look for the sign: LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections. But it's easy walking distance if the shuttle has just departed.

  so i went through the new tom bradley and the layout is still the same. all the food choices are before the security check. there is only 1 bar type thing after the security which has only premade deli sandwiches the microwave pizza. this was also confirmed by the lady who checked me in.
  
  Answer:-There is quite a bit of food available after the security check, but it's ALL more expensive (maybe because it's so SECURE?). You MAY go broke, but you won't go hungry. Enjoy your flight...

  Answer:-Tom Bradley is the name of the international terminal at LAX that Emirates flies out of. The terminal is well marked with information screens, just look on the screen or signs to see what counter number Emirates is located. All the counters are very easy to find.

  Answer:-I recommend one of the municipalities outside of the Birmingham city limits -- Vestavia Hills, Hoover, Mountain Brook to the south or Gardendale, Fultondale, Mount Olive to the north -- stay away from the downtown area of the city -- it's not the safest place to be or live, and there is NO place to shop. I live in Hoover, which is about 10 miles south of downtown, and I work downtown.
  
  I've never even been to Tuscaloosa even though I've lived here now for 18 years. I do know it's a college town. The University of Alabama is there.
  
  The climate is typical southeastern US -- it's HOT in the summer, and just right in the spring, fall and winter.

  Answer:-Miami, Fl or Miami, Ohio? Either way I think you'll like T-town. I grew up there as a child and have come back to the area after retirement. It's really grown and has just opened a big amphitheater. As for apartments....I'm sure you can find something you'll like....in whatever price range you need.

  Answer:-No, but train tickets from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa are about $17.00 & bus tickets are about $10.00 to $16.00. Both are about an hour ride. It's a lot cheaper than the taxi & shuttle services. The Tuscaloosa Transit Authority has Trolleys on fixed routes for $1.00 & 20¢ transfers. Hope this helps.

  How are you shocked about USC being investigated?? For one look at their track record. This has come up numerous times with these sports in the last few years. The school is expected to win, so wouldn't surprise me if you have boosters demanding that the school better perform or else.....type mentality. So alot of pressure is on these coaches to perform. There have been multiple whistle blowers with this school paying athletes to join the program (have all been speculation) but it's enough for an open investigation.

  Answer:-Not really, the earthquake is a relieving of the pressure on an area of the fault, it shouldn't have a major effect on other areas.
  
  Generally a part of the fault line which is subject to Earthquakes, but has not had one for years is most at risk. There are instances where a fault has been dormant for a long time {Indonesia recently} and it is subject to several fairly major shocks.However when the stress is relieved is not predictable, although sometimes pre-shocks are detected.
  
  In summary; go move to the center of a tectonic plate.

  Answer:-Aftershocks in an unstable mine are not tectonic in nature (earth crust moving). Not enough energy from the Peru quake would make it that far north, or else it would have triggered a lot of quakes in Cali as well.
  
  I have a theory that the melting ice caps are redistributing such a large mass of water around the planet that the poles are undergoing tectonic rebound, causing stress at plate boundaries around the world. IT'S aTHEORY (for whoever wishes to argue the point) but I think I am going to watch quake frequency for the next few years.

  My husband had family living in Yungay or Huaraz in 1970. They never found his cousins, children who may have been at the Circus during the Earthquake and eventual landslide. Does anyone know who would have a list of survivors from this disaster? Alot of the children were sent to Europe for adoption, but I don't know where to. Are there any good websites for this kind of thing?
  
  Answer:-It is very difficult to access to a list of orphans (if there is actually one) The only thing I can think of is to actually visit Yungay (the new town) and start asking the local authorities. Just remember that when the earthquake happened, the government was run by militars who may or may not have sent the orphans omewhere else. The best thing would be to contact people who lived there at the time, and local authorities now in Yungay or in Huaraz. Websites? I dont think so, these things are very delictae to post online.

  Answer:-Wow that's really tough. I would never want to kill anybody I know or have anything happen to them, so I'd have to go with that, number "3" so to say.
  
  Not that I don't care about Peru or the local airport, but if they are people I don't really know and never met what does it have to do with me or my loved ones? You don't know if the people at the local airport were unkind or even people who destroyed themselves and I don't live in Peru.

SFO is a larger airport and offers more flights to more destinations, especially international flights. I used to live on the Peninsula, and flying out of Oakland was very inconvenient for me and never once used the Oakland Airport. I lived 15 minutes from SFO, why drive another 30 minutes each way when I didn't have to?

  Answer:-Piedmont is good but very expensive. Oakland Hills neighborhoods have great schools like Chabot, Hillcrest, & Thornhill(elementary schools). People try to cram into these areas to be in the school districts. You'd be hard pressed to find a house less than half a million, but there are condos that are. The real "towns" that fall in your financial category are San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, El Cerrito. The problem is the schools aren't that great. Better than Oakland, but that unfortunately, isn't saying much. Basically, where the public schools are good the property values are high. You might have to compromise one or the other a little bit. Alameda is a consideration, that might be your best bet.

  Answer:-Everyone hates layovers even kids, here are some helpful hints.
  Take portable games, like Sorry, Life, and Connect Four. They sell them cheap at places like Wal-Mart and Target. They come in very handy on the flight to. If you have a portable DVD player you can always bring that just make sure that you have extra batteries. Handle held video games are always fun, you can find some pretty cheap ones at the places above. What about books? Get some new books that the family can read together. Crayons, paper and coloring books are wonderful, again good to use in flight too!!! Be sure to pack some snacks, crackers, fruit roll ups, chips, anything small, in bags and does not have to stay cold is good!
  Make up scavenger hunt cards for the airport. Put things on them like a person wearing pink, a pilot, tickets ect... who ever gets the most wins. You can walk around and do this game or you can even make up Bingo cards to do in your area if you have too much luggage. Only takes a few minutes to make them up, but hey you can get an hour or two out of them!
  Start the story game, someone in the family starts the story and the rest have to finish it. You can go on forever.
  Play the I Spy Game....you know I spy something blue, and so on.
  Twenty questions is always fun.
  Hangman, Tic Tac Toe, Uno Cards, Go Fish, Old Maid. Fun for the whole family, kills time and again good in flight. What about word searches? Those are always fun.
  When all else fails, walk around, watch the planes land. Hey use the time to get something to eat, that always kills an hour! We also try to find a family that has kids about the same age, in hopes that they will play with each other. Oh yeah and we usually by one new small travel toy. Let them pick it out but, they cannot play with it until we are on vacation. Hey at least it is still new to them and will keep them busy for a few hours!
