  I had a polished granite floor installed 3 days ago. They did not do a very good job of removing the hazing after it was grouted. There are even tiles with spots of grout on them. I was told to add baking soda to the cleaner i use to remove it. Is baking soda safe for polished granite? What will remove the haze, but still not ruin the polished finish?
  
  Answer:-hazing is left over residue from grouting the tiles. If you do choose to tackle this yourself, I would get the floor wet by spraying it with a spray bottle and let it sit for an hour. If it is still wet I would then use a clean dry cloth to remove the residue. You could try a small out of the way area first so you will not have any scratches in the middle of your floor. After the water has been removed from the floor, you should use cheese cloth to buff off any remaining hazing. I have used this process in the past with great results. The biggest challenge with your floor is that it is a polished granite and trying to remove the haze incorrectly could dull the polish on the granite. I would not use baking soda.

  (b) standing (or kneeling) still while having ketchup, mustard, etc. dumped over you. Or being pelted with raw eggs. Or, a single egg under a ball cap that is broken gently, so that the liquid oozes out over time, drips down onto one's face and clothes, and dries.
  
  (c) Physical exercise (push-ups, bows & toes, etc.)
  
  (d) have one's hair cut into a non-fashionable style (think 50's flat-top)...especially if you get an entire pledge "class" to do the same

  (f) go into a local store and purchase for themselves queen-size panty hose. Wear it under regular clothes the next (several) day(s).
  
  Perhaps many of these you could no longer do on most politically correct campuses, but note that these kinds of things do not carry the risk of physical injury as some of the more "newsworthy" hazings that pop up. Also, perhaps easier to stage and film for a documentary then imposing on a real pledge class these days (except for finding multiple guys who would be willing to cut their hair for you).

  Answer:-Texas does high school football in a quirky way when it comes to the playoffs. Classes 4A and 5A don't have Division 1 and Division 2 alignments until the playoff brackets are determined.
  
  For 5A, the top 4 teams in each district qualify for the playoffs. Of those 4, the 2 schools with the largest student enrollment are placed into the 5A Division 1 bracket and the 2 schools with the lowest student enrollments are placed into the 5A Division 2 bracket.
  
  For 4A, the top 3 teams in each district qualify for the playoffs with the school with the highest enrollment going into 4A Division 1 bracket and the other 2 going into the 4A Division 2 bracket.
  
  Having the best record doesn't matter. Depending on enrollment, the district winner can end up in Division 2 if they have a lower enrollment than the other schools.
  
  Yes, it's screwy. For one, 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs is way too many. In some districts, teams with 3 or 4 wins can get a playoff spot. And, a school can be put into the Division 1 bracket one year, and the next put into division 2, depending on which other schools in their district qualify for the playoffs.
  
  i didn't follow it all that close but I remember the debate when the Texas UIL switched to the 2 division bracket alignments for the playoffs. Supposedly, it was done this way to avoid adding a 6A classification for the larger schools.
  
  Texas certainly has enough high enrollment schools to justify a 6A class. It might work okay in the larger population centers with a lot of schools but it would be a problem for north and west Texas schools. For example, a proposed district included an El Paso school, an Amarillo school, a Lubbock school, an Odessa school, and 2 Dallas schools.
  
  It was determined that the cost of travel would be way to high to put districts like that together. The cost could probably be justified for district football games, but all the other sports would have to travel the same distances... basketball, volleyball, softball, etc, etc, etc.
  
  So, I can understand why they chose not to add a 6A classification but going to the 2 division playoff system seems like a strange alternative.

The larger class 5A schools are division I and the smaller 5A schools are division II. They don't play each other because they would have to wait another week plus one or both teams would have to make extra travel arrangements that are not accounted for in the schools' budgets. Also the UIL (University Interscholastic League) only has a certain number of weeks set aside for the football season. Adding that extra game would exceed that number of weeks. Plus, all classifications (and divisions if applicable) are required to play the same number of games (regular season and playoff) and because all classifications are not separated into divisions there would be an unequal number of games in the higher classifications.

Why is the hype and enthusiasm there for texas football when they are just as good as football teams everwherein the nation?

He is absolutely correct that it is possible to score 1 point through a "one point safety" by the defense off a conversion. However, it is also possible for a final score to be 1-0. This would make a totoal of only 6 impossible scores. Can anybody figure it out? Good luck.
  Well done "Better than Most". However, I was including the 1-0 technical forfeiture score as a possible "official" score and that is why I came up with 6. However As far as the 0-0 score, I too am not 100% sure of the rules in terms of game termination but presumed that play would continue until someone in fact scored.

  I don't think that 0 - 0 is possible. I'm not positive but I'm not reading the overtime rules to figure it out. Presumably they would play until one team or the other scored and then held the opposing team. Maybe they would call it a draw after 10 overtimes. Who cares?
  
  By my count the impossible scores are:
  I think 1 - 1 is impossible because a team must score at least a touchdown to earn a 1 pt safety.
  I think 1 - 2 is impossible because a team must score at least a touchdown to earn a 1 pt safety.
  I think 1 - 3 is impossible for the same reason as previously stated.
  Same is true of 1 - 4 and 1 - 5.
  A score of 1-6 is possible if the defense scores a one point safety after the first touchdown of the game. I believe that this is the lowest possible score when one team has but a single point.
  I think 1 - 7 is the last impossible score. I can't figure a way for Team A to have exactly 7 points if Team B already has 1.

I am about sick and tired of Auburn getting screwed because we are a stand up program. LSU plays dirty and always has. Les Miles even complained to the board last year as well. Did he not see his team nearly kill Brandon Cox. No one likes to play LSU and it is not because they can beat anyone...it is because the try to beat up everyone. Our guys beat the best tema in the country and it was an amazing game to watch the day after Thanksgiving.   Anyway, about Arkansas. They are going to have their hands full with LSU, Auburn and Alabama. They should beat Ole Miss, Miss. State and Vandy for sure in SEC play and Utah State, SE Missouri State and UL-Monroe out of conference placing them exactly at 6-6- bowl eligible. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawgs pull off an upset. Tennessee would be my pick as their most likely upset. Arkansas really played very well at the end of '05, nearly knocking off LSU in Baton Rouge, and anything less than a 6-6 record and bowl game should be considered a disappointment. Mustain and McFadden are a great foundation to build around.

  I do not think Luke Fickell is ready to be Head Coach, although he filled the role this year, he did not have the down to the detail preparation that Jim Tressel had. I think Urban Meyer would have the team ready to compete at a high level every Saturday. That is why I think Ohio State will make him an offer, even if he only does it for a couple of years, it will help to get the program back on track, but I hope he signs on to coach for a decade or more. Urban Meyer is only 48 and is still relatively young for a coach.

  Answer:-From Arkansas here. Very proud of the boys, and McFadden is the best player in Hog history. Our guys beat the best tema in the country and it was an amazing game to watch the day after Thanksgiving. I think McFadden stands a good shot to win Heisman but Tebow is goign to be up there as well. Seeing how Arkansas didn't have the best season and DMAC played a lot of the games not 100%, I don't' know if he will win. I think Arkansas will get an invite to the Cotton Bowl.

  Frank Broyles will be gone at the end of this year. His retirement is way past due. Now it is time to boot the Nutt! Rebuild the Arkansas Razorbacks football program from the bottom up. Houston Nutt has never even came close to having a national championship team the entire time as head coach at Arkansas. He can get to a major bowl game every once in a while but always blows it. He recruited the best quarterback in the nation and lost him after one season. He hired one of the best offensive coordinator coaches that Arkansas has ever had and lost him after on season also. If it were not for Darren McFadden this team would be nonthing this year!
  
  Answer:-I think this will be his last season. I think he will quit, not get fired. His style is let's say not very dynamic. I agree we have had the talent (look at last year's NFL draft), but can't seem to get the job done. Very frustrating to watch. Hopefully the new AD will hire someone that can get the wins.

  Answer:-6-6 is bowl eligibility now with the 12 game schedule. Especially since there will be 32 bowl games now. No way will ever be 64 teams 7-5 or better.
  
  Anyway, about Arkansas. They are going to have their hands full with LSU, Auburn and Alabama. They should beat Ole Miss, Miss. State and Vandy for sure in SEC play and Utah State, SE Missouri State and UL-Monroe out of conference placing them exactly at 6-6- bowl eligible. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawgs pull off an upset. Tennessee would be my pick as their most likely upset. Arkansas really played very well at the end of '05, nearly knocking off LSU in Baton Rouge, and anything less than a 6-6 record and bowl game should be considered a disappointment. Mustain and McFadden are a great foundation to build around.

  Answer:-The Ravens wont be the same this year as previous years and Darren McFadden has no fantasy value. His turf toe injury won't go away, it needs complete rest for a long period of time so an off-season won't fully heal it. Expect him to play 5-8 games this season before being sidelined. In them 5-8 weeks the raiders offense don't have the penetration to get him many yards either.
  
  Stay well away from this trade.

UCLA fought and won they are a top ranked team and they played to stay there. The calls could have gone either way.   My team has yet to play on TNF, so I was unable to check this myself. It would seem pretty unfair to have to pay to see your home town team on TV. Obviously this only applies to football, as I need cable myself to watch my baseball and sometimes basketball team, but that's mostly everyday whereas football is a once a week thing.

He may be a better coach today than he was 10 years ago. One thing he has taught us all, is football is fundamentals, execution and teamwork. Qualities you will not get out of many programs.

  Incident at PSU: Apologies, skepticism

  Some people doubted the appalling incident occurred.
  
  Others were shocked and upset that it did.
  
  There was no shortage of reaction to last Sunday's column about an interracial couple from Greensburg who were harassed at a recent Penn State University football game.
  
  Retired Marines Linda Baker, 45, who is white, and husband, Bobby Baker, 44, who is black, repeatedly endured racist taunts from some Beaver Stadium fans and left the game early. The N-word figured prominently in the insults people hurled at them.
  
  The Bakers' story brought to my e-mail inbox anticipated reaction from the lunatic fringe of Penn State followers. A contingent of fans evidently believes the Bakers are the driving force behind a sinister worldwide conspiracy to disparage the beloved Nittany Lions.
  
  Several accused the Bakers of fabricating or exaggerating their story.
  
  "That sort of unprovoked effluvia might happen at a Steeler game, but I doubt it from a PSU crowd," one alum wrote. "(This) just doesn't ring right with me. I don't think (the Bakers are) telling the entire scenario."
  
  Wrote another: "I find it difficult to believe that the Bakers' experience at Penn State was racially charged from start to finish. Sure does sound to me like the race card, but we disagree on the party playing it."
  
  So let's see. Two military veterans who moved to Western Pennsylvania to care for ailing parents have nothing better to do with their time than to report a detailed account of racial harassment to university officials.
  
  The e-mails from the maniacal thankfully were countered by a number of conciliatory communiques.
  
  "I sincerely apologize for my fellow alumni and future alumni for acting in this immature and racist fashion," one fan wrote. "True Blue-and-White fans would welcome (the Bakers') company."
  
  A season ticketholder stated he was "appalled, shocked and embarrassed" over the taunting.
  
  "I doubt (the Bakers) would consider ever visiting Penn State again," he wrote. "But if they would, our group would be happy to entertain them at our tailgate, and ensure that they are seated with people who will not allow a repeat of their first experience."
  
  Those messages touched the Bakers, as did letters from Penn State President Graham Spanier and legendary football Coach Joe Paterno.
  
  "Both my husband and I are extremely grateful for the apologetic and understanding responses that we received from so many from Penn State," Linda Baker said. "We don't think that everyone from PSU or State College is racist. Although the comments were many, we know that the majority (of fans) were there to enjoy the game like we were."
  
  That doesn't mean the Bakers plan to make a downpayment on Nittany Lion season tickets.
  
  "But I'm beginning to soften my stance about PSU and State College," Linda Baker said. "How could I not, especially after so many people have reached out to us in a genuinely concerned and caring manner?"

  For 45 years, Paterno's seemed like the nicest guy in the coaching fraternity. But he covered up child molestation, which is completely inexcusable. Will this ruin our memories of kind ol' Joe Pa forever?

  I am a huge Penn State fan and I am planning on going to college there, but I think Joe Pa should retire. He is too old to be coaching and he obviously has just lost the touch. He has so much talent on that team and he is basically just wasting it. Luckily, Austin Scott got kicked off the team, or Evan Royster would have never gotten a chance to play this year. Don't get me wrong Joe Paterno was a great coach but he should hand the job over to someone else!

  It's a shame that video footage of football is hard to come by but I've been searching the internet to no avail for the 2002 Penn State Iowa game where Joe Paterno chases down Dick Honig. Does anyone know where to find this and or other great college football clips?

  Joe Paterno was told about the sexual assault allegations and reported them to his superior the athletic director. So why is Joe Paterno at fault??? And not one Jerry Sandusky or two the athletic director for not acting??
  
  Answer:-The big cheeses at PSU have been trying for years to get him out. He's been there so long he has become an institution, and it has been near impossible to put himout to pasture. Now they finally have a reason that they can justify.

  Would it be fair for Joe Paterno to be kicked out of the door if he really was not aware what took place.
  
  Answer:-If they have proof that he had prior knowledge, he just might get the 'early retirement' treatment.

  With the worst Economic Criminal Record of any President, Chairman Obama will be going DOWN, just like Joe Paterno did has and won't.
