• Question:-what is a practical and creative way to display our Christmas photo cards from friends and family?
  I'll get about 100 christmas photo cards from friends and family over the next month. What is a creative and attractive way to display them in my home? Most of the cards are flat, like a large post card. My house is very small.
  
  Answer:-Well, I always put our cards up on our fireplace mantle with some decorations...I do that for every holiday. We don't get 100 cards though, that many cards up there would look tacky.
  
  If you don't have a fireplace, maybe find another type of ledge to put them on? You dont really need to display all of them, do you?

  Answer:-yesterday i received one of those types of Christmas cards from a good friend of mine. I haven't really spoke to them in quite a while since they moved out of state. It was sad that there was nothing attached to the card, not even a quick hi hand written on it. So here's what I think you should do: if you are sending your Christmas card to someone you see all the time then no, leave it just as it is and put it in the envelope and send it off. If it's to someone that you don't see very much, don't talk to very much or stuff like that go ahead and type up a quick letter saying what you were up to that last year.   Answer:-I did this last year. I got christmas cards made up with my son's picture on it. We decorate our tree right after thanksgiving (black friday) so this gave us plenty of time to add in a dvd of my son decorating the tree. My husband made a video online using a chipmunk christmas song...and had my son put ornaments on the tree while we video taped him and pose for pictures that also went into the dvd. We sent them to our close relatives and friends that could not join us for christmas.

  Answer:-I was wondering the same thing. In the past I haven't, but it is nice when you receive cards from others with a personal message, so this year I probably will. I think on the back- there is more space to write. Make it personal to the recipient, not general. I know it will take me a lot of time though!

  Answer:-If you're looking for a safe town with a terrific school district, then State College will fit the bill. It is still somewhat reasonable to live there as well.
  
  "No culture" - depends on your definition of culture. There are always festivals and such going on, especially during the summer. If you're a college football fan, then you're at a good place for tailgating and Big 10 excitement. The university has plenty going on at all times. Plus, you're an hour away from Harrisburg, and two hours away from Pittsburgh. The downtown area has plenty of little shops to keep you busy, plus it's very quaint. Parking is cheap, too.
  
  Naturally, the students dominate the town, so Christmas and summer are always more desirable if you're not into crowds.
  
  Happy Valley is a beautiful place, and summer and fall make up for the winters.

  3 in a 1 bdrm is really crowded. 4 in a 2 bdrm is more doable - either bunk beds in both bdrms or two twin beds in each if there's room, or futons! If any of you are handy, create some semi-loft bed frames. Have the bed about waist or chest height - easier to jump onto than a bunk, but lots of storage space underneath.

  Not real easy to find as they go fast, but keep looking! Don't forget to ask for the utilities history - depending on how well-built the place is (or isn't!) the utilities can really range.

  Answer:-I too, love both of the shows, and admire BOTH moms for what they do!! I feel I can better relate to Kate's parenting styles....and they keep it real for the camera's. However, Im not saying that Michelle is not keeping it real. As she is! They are the way they are, as they are deeply religious, and thats what they base their family values on. I dont think she's taking her children to the thrift store because they cant afford it, but simply because there's more to life than name brand clothing, and trying to fit in! I take my children to thrift shops, as well as I have enough pride to shop in them myself...and my family isnt struggling. Its just that materialistic crap doesnt mean anything to me. So I can relate to her better that way! I think they both are very patient loving moms, and I admire them both, because no way could I handle more than the 3 Im about to have!

  anyways...she was supposed to hav her kid march 18th but instead had it like december 11th...it was only 25 weeks old. they were afraid the kid was going to have mental problems or complications because having a baby this early usually results in severe problems. i read theirs an 82% chance the baby will be fine...i havnt heard anything so far on the condition of the child but i think its ok since it hasnt hit big news tht its retarded or dead or anything like tht...but who knows. btw the childs name is Josie Brooklyn :)

  Answer:-every pregnancy comes with health risks whether it is your first or 19th. so obviously each time she gets pregnant she faces all of the "normal" risks.
  the baby she just had a few days ago was delivered by cesarean and i am pretty sure it was not her first c-section. having multiple c-sections can cause a lot of scar tissue and then complications from that. otherwise there's no risk that i know of from just being pregnant a lot. you are supposed to wait at least 6 months (probably varies based on who you ask) between pregnancies so your body can heal and the older you get the riskier the pregnancies become.
  but again, i am pretty sure that just being pregnant a lot does not negatively affect a woman's health.

  Well, in a purely human logic sense, I do think it's a bit much and worry about her health. But knowing their beliefs on having as many children as God is willing to give them I am not shocked and would expect them to do nothing less. I mean, you don't get 18 kids by saying, hmmmm I think we'll shoot for 18 and stop. They said, we will leave it to God, period. That doesn't mean they stop having sex, doesn't mean they change their mind when God gives'em too much, it just means they'll leave it to God. You don't renig on your beliefs midway through...even if they don't make good sense to other people.

  They do prenatal testing. We've seen a million ultrasound visits and doctor visits. Maybe you are talking about the amnio test. I'm in agreement with that. From what I understand it doesn't fix anything, they just tell you if your child is likely to have Down's Syndrome and that gives you the chance to abort him or her before they are born. If you KNOW you wouldn't abort your child what's the point in having that test? If you are talking about some other tests, I dunno. I didn't realize they skipped the health checkup parts.
  
  
  Do you think it's a good idea to have a large family?
  
  For some, I do. It's up to them and God. My only concern ever with these folks or those like them is that they are truly caring for, loving and protecting their children adequately. And of course, you can't tell that by watching t.v. no matter how close to 'reality' it's supposed to be. Assuming no one or 3 people (most likely the oldest girls) are being overburdened by family chores and that everyone is happy and healthy, I think large families are great.

  I've got 1 and that works for me, lol. If God wanted me to have more, that would be fine too. But I don't know that I'm an 18 kid kind of girl. I'm not disciplined enough. I know that already.

  Answer:-They wind up having at least 20-22 kids before she hits menopause! They are just nuts. And they are in this little world all of their own, it is really creepy I think. They are all homeschooled too - do those kids socialize with anyone besides their own siblings? Of course, Discovery Health and TLC just love to play up the Duggars and now keep showing other families just like that on "Kids by the Dozen". Some people thinks the Gosselins are nuts having 8 kids (though it was really only 2 pregnancies), but these people just keep having more and more. Their monthly grocery bill is probably more than my mortgage!!

  Answer:-The Duggar are just odd to me. Yet, I love watching their show. Personally, I think 18 children is too many. I work in a school based setting with about 20 children. It's difficult to give 20 children all the attention they need, all the time. I could only imagine what it's like raising 18 children. A few of them have to feel as though they are being ignored.

I just don't see any of those children living outside the little community that's been established for them in Arkansas.   Answer:-no it's not. they have commercial rental properties (and they say this in the opening credits sequence on every show) and they own property that has a cell tower that a few different companies rent. they are very wise with their spending and have no debt. the house and land are paid for, so all they really have as expenses are the utilities (and they designed the house to be very efficient and inexpensive to maintain), food, clothing, and fuel. while food may be a couple thousand dollars a month, the others aren't near that much so i'm sure their monthly bills are less than $5000. with 17 kids at home, including a few teenage boys (aka bottomless pits). that's not bad. and it's not hard to maintain with the income from the sources i listed, not to mention they did write a book and get income from that. the family came into the national eye when michelle was named young mother of the year in arkansas (they might have been on tv before this, but i don't think so). they supported themselves for all those years before any of the shows, when they had 14 kids and before. they've been self-sufficient since their oldest was very young.
  and having a big family isn't any more wasteful than having a small one, as a matter of fact i bet they "waste" less than the average family considering they buy everything used (recycle old stuff no one else wants so new products don't have to be made for them) and have no debt.

  This is an ancient festivity that has been much transformed through the years, but which was intended in prehispanic Mexico to celebrate children and the dead. Hence, the best way to describe this Mexican holiday is to say that it is a time when Mexican families remember their dead, and the continuity of life.
  Two important things to know about the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) are:
  
  It is a holiday with a complex history, and therefore its observance varies quite a bit by region and by degree of urbanization.
  
  It is not a morbid occasion, but rather a festive time.
  The original celebration can be traced to many Mesoamerican native traditions, such as the festivities held during the Aztec month of Miccailhuitontli, ritually presided by the "Lady of the Dead" (Mictecacihuatl), and dedicated to children and the dead. In the Aztec calendar, this ritual fell roughly at the end of the Gregorian month of July and the beginning of August, but in the postconquest era it was moved by Spanish priests so that it coincided with the Christian holiday of All Hallows Eve (in Spanish: "Día de Todos Santos.") This was a vain effort to transform the observance from a profane to a Christian celebration. The result is that Mexicans now celebrate the day of the dead during the first two days of November, rather than at the beginning of summer. But remember the dead they still do, and the modern festivity is characterized by the traditional Mexican blend of ancient aboriginal and introduced Christian features.
  
  Generalizing broadly, the holiday's activities consist of families (1) welcoming their dead back into their homes, and (2) visiting the graves of their close kin.   In homes observant families create an altar and decorate it with items that they believe are beautiful and attractive to the souls of their departed ones. Such items include offerings of flowers and food, but also things that will remind the living of the departed (such as their photographs, a diploma, or an article of clothing), and the things that the dead prized and enjoyed while they lived. This is done to entice the dead and assure that their souls actually return to take part in the remembrance.   This is actually my father's car. He was driving recently and noticed the oil light came on, so he put in a quart of oil. The light went out, so he continued driving. This time, after the light goes out and he goes back about his business, the car starts making funny sounds, at which point he stops and has it towed to the dealership. They tell him the motor is blown because of low oil pressure, and it will cost $12,000 to either replace the engine or fix it, I'm not sure which. What can he do? He still has 6 or 8 payments left. Is it unlikely that his insurance will do anything for him? Should he try and find someone to buy it for parts? Please help.

  Answer:-Everyone hates layovers even kids, here are some helpful hints.
  Take portable games, like Sorry, Life, and Connect Four. They sell them cheap at places like Wal-Mart and Target. They come in very handy on the flight to. If you have a portable DVD player you can always bring that just make sure that you have extra batteries. Handle held video games are always fun, you can find some pretty cheap ones at the places above. What about books? Get some new books that the family can read together. Crayons, paper and coloring books are wonderful, again good to use in flight too!!! Be sure to pack some snacks, crackers, fruit roll ups, chips, anything small, in bags and does not have to stay cold is good!
  Make up scavenger hunt cards for the airport. Put things on them like a person wearing pink, a pilot, tickets ect... who ever gets the most wins. You can walk around and do this game or you can even make up Bingo cards to do in your area if you have too much luggage. Only takes a few minutes to make them up, but hey you can get an hour or two out of them!
  Start the story game, someone in the family starts the story and the rest have to finish it. You can go on forever.
  Play the I Spy Game....you know I spy something blue, and so on.
  Twenty questions is always fun.
  Hangman, Tic Tac Toe, Uno Cards, Go Fish, Old Maid. Fun for the whole family, kills time and again good in flight. What about word searches? Those are always fun.
  When all else fails, walk around, watch the planes land. Hey use the time to get something to eat, that always kills an hour! We also try to find a family that has kids about the same age, in hopes that they will play with each other. Oh yeah and we usually by one new small travel toy. Let them pick it out but, they cannot play with it until we are on vacation. Hey at least it is still new to them and will keep them busy for a few hours!

  Answer:-I believe it was Bradley Hospital. The house is located in Southington even though it says northern connecticut. It is located at 208 meriden ave. The family actually moved TO Southington from a different area i believe. This house was once Aikman mortuary and funeral home. It is not a place you can visit, a family does live there today. I have lived in Southington my whole life and live just a few streets over from this house. There have been stories of paranormal activity in the house but nothing to the extent of the family who was supposedly haunted.

(seeing that I was in a video rental store) But I think that the movie, A Haunting in Georgia will be similar, i not better than the episode. It is suppose to be based on a true story from the 70's. There's a few scenes that may be considered gory for a 10 year old, but as long as she knows it's not real I think it would be fine. I found it to be incredibly boring, but I'm 21.

El Dia De Los Muertos actually falls on All Saints Day...which is celebrated in Peru. See 1st site below for an article on Yahoo Peru about the all Saints Day celebration. People go to the the cemeteries to clean the grave sites, take flowers, and remember loved ones who have died. This holiday is distinctly Mexican, tho it is recognized in Bolivia and Brazil also...but not in all Latin American countries. All Saints Day, on the other hand, is a religious holiday recognized in all Catholic countries. 2nd and 3rd sites below tell about All Saints Day in Peru.

  I'm Mexican but born in America and my family hasn't celebrated Dia de los Muertos since they left Mexico 20+ years ago. Mostly because there hasn't been many deaths in our family in a long time.
  
  Anyways, the past few years has brought about the death of my great-grandparents, an uncle, and a friend. What would be a good simple way to start honoring them on this day?
  
  Answer:-Start a family altar with their pictures just for the event, not for all year long. What are some things that they particularly liked? Gather up those things to place in their sections. Usually Virgin of Guadalupe images are included. There is a special incense that is burned and flowers as well. Finally, you include their favorite foods.
  My mother loved avocados and olives. Olives are easy because I don't have to open the can or jar until the last few days, but avocados will spoil if I don't buy them at the last minute.
  Just a few ideas.

  Answer:-You need a simple long-sleeve black dress, simple buckle-type girl's dress shoes or just low-heeled black dress shoes, white or black stockings, and a doll dressed like a "mini me" version of Wednesday.

  Answer:-I think that John Astin from the 60's TV show was the best Gomez because of his fantastic facial expressions and body language (and also for the Groucho Marx styled jokes he always delivered).
  Carolyn Jones from the TV show was my favourite Morticia just because she was so beautiful and innocent but also very sexy. But Anjelica Huston gave a more sinister feel to the character which I also liked.
  Jackie Coogan was the best Uncle Fester because of his high voice, but the gags did get a little repetitive at points. I didn't really like Christopher Lloyd's Uncle Fester in the films because of the voice.
  Ted Cassidy is the only Lurch in my opinion. He invented the ‘You rang?’ expression so I’ll always love him for that. As for Grandma Addams I think Blossom Rock was adorable. Oh, and I didn’t like the movie’s Thing because it could get out of the box and walk around which for some reason isn’t as funny as an arm that mysteriously travels from box to box.
  I think that I prefer Christina Ricci and Jimmy Workman as Wednesday and Pugsley because they were actually quite frightening in comparison with the cute TV versions of the characters. Also, because they were older, they were more talented than their television counterparts.
  So, I think overall I liked the 1960’s cast more. The movies were funny, just not as funny as the TV show.

  Answer:-On August 4, 1892, Lizzie Borden's father, Andrew Jackson Borden, and her step-mother, Abby Borden, were murdered in the family home. The only other people present at the residence at the time were Lizzie and the family maid, Bridget Sullivan. An uncle, John V. Morse, (brother of Andrew Borden's first wife) was visiting at the time, but was away from the house during the time of the murders. Lizzie's older sister Emma was also away from home. That day, Andrew had gone into town to do his usual rounds at the bank and post office. He returned home at about 10:45. About a half-hour later, Lizzie found his body. According to Bridget's testimony, she was napping in the second floor of the house shortly after 11:00 am when Lizzie called up the stairs to her, saying someone had killed her father, whose body was found slumped on a couch in the downstairs sitting room.
