- Question:-lizzie borden?
Lizzie Borden took and axe
Gave her mother 40 whacks,
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father 41....is it true what really happend/
Answer:-On August 4, 1892, Lizzie Borden's father, Andrew Jackson Borden, and her step-mother, Abby Borden, were murdered in the family home. The only other people present at the residence at the time were Lizzie and the family maid, Bridget Sullivan. An uncle, John V. Morse, (brother of Andrew Borden's first wife) was visiting at the time, but was away from the house during the time of the murders. Lizzie's older sister Emma was also away from home. That day, Andrew had gone into town to do his usual rounds at the bank and post office. He returned home at about 10:45. About a half-hour later, Lizzie found his body. According to Bridget's testimony, she was napping in the second floor of the house shortly after 11:00 am when Lizzie called up the stairs to her, saying someone had killed her father, whose body was found slumped on a couch in the downstairs sitting room.
Shortly thereafter, while Lizzie was being attended to by neighbors and the family doctor, Bridget discovered the body of Mrs. Borden upstairs, in the guest bedroom. Mr. & Mrs. Borden had both been killed by blows from a hatchet, which in the case of Mr. Borden, not only crushed his skull but cleanly split his left eyeball.
Lizzie Borden was acquitted and no one else was ever tried.

- Question:-What made Lizzie Borden kill her family?
Recently I've become fascinated with the whole Lizzie Borden murders. But why, exactly did she kill her parents? There's a lot of skepticism that her parents were very neglectful, which sounds reasonable, but I've heard some other stories, like that she went crazy, or she just wanted to know what it would be like to kill her family. Thanks.
Answer:-I've always been very interested with the Lizzie Borden story myself.
Many people believe that it was greed. Simple old fashioned greed. Her father, Andrew Borden, was a wealthy man but lived a very modest life. Lizzie wanted to live a more lavish life style and wanted her inheritance and it is because of this that many people feel that she killed her father and step-mother. Greed.

- Question:-If Lizzie Borden didn't murder her parents, then why did she attempt to buy poison from a store that morning?
Eli Bence, a clerk at Smith's Drug Store, claims that Lizzie tried to buy ten cents worth of prussic acid on August 3, although he wouldn't sell it to her without a prescription. On the same morning, Abby Borden went to Dr. Bowen and claimed that she and Andrew were being poisoned. Andrew denied being sick and there was no evidence of poisoning found in the autopsies.

Answer:-There are a lot of sites out there. Wikipedia is a good place to start but not very reliable. If I use Wikipedia, its for the references and links to correct information. In your search, seek out the .edu sites which come from universities because their research is usually flawless and reliable. Other good resources are law sites.

- Question:-Could Amanda Knox become the Lizzie Borden of the 21st century?
Remember the jump-rope rhyme:
"Lizzie Borden took an axe,
And gave her mother 40 whacks,
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty one.
Although Lizzie Borden was acquitted for the murder of her parents, the prosecution's grisly tale of the ax murderess was very popular in the tabloid press. And became a popular nursery rhyme.
Answer:-While Lizzie Borden murdered her parents could be a lie, people have heard it so many times they think it is true.
- Question:-does anyone know where to get a recording of the lizzie borden nursery rhyme?
it goes..Lizzie Borden had an axe
She gave her mother 40 whacks,
When she saw what she had done
she gave her father 41.
Answer:-There are a few recordings available on youtube. And you can download the song.
They recently discovered that she didn't do it. A woman of her small stature couldn't hack away at someone as many times as the killer did. And the axe was really heavy.
