  A zombie apocalypse or a vampire apocalypse. I say zombie because you can use garlic and what not on a vampire, and secondly if you have ever played nazi zombies you would understand.

  When the zombie apocalypse finally happens, how long can we expect it to last? Assuming that the transformation time from non-zombie to zombie is about 15 minutes and the only thing zombies eat are humans and will starve to death in around 5 days if there is no food.

  Answer:-You've given us very generous terms here, a 5 day lifespan makes this a very manageable plague. I guess the key thing to ask is, will the general population know that the zombies will die in 5 days? If it is common knowledge, then everyone can just board up their homes and wait it out.
  
  Assuming everyone doesn't know, there will be small localized outbreaks when groups decide to move to better accommodations/look for supplies. Even so, this kind of apocalypse won't be widespread or long lasting, the short lifespan just won't allow it. I can't see it lasting more than a year.
  
  You would only need a source of water, and a small supply of food - enough food for a few weeks. Again, I'd expect the outbreaks to be small, localized, and short lived.

  Smart zombies could get in any place you can barricade yourself in eventually. They could drive a car through a wall or heavy door to get you, or use tools to break open locked gates, fences, etc.
