  Answer:-Well he certainly didn't beat her for many years. They were only together for a bit less than a couple of years, and both of them spent those years bombed out of their minds on coke and booze and fighting like rabid weasels. But that was 30 years ago, and now he's an old man with an advanced case of one of the most torturous diseases anyone can have. The news media generally find that to be a good time to concentrate on the high points of a celebrity's past, for the benefit of the nostalgic fans of the celebrity...who are pretty much the only people who are interested at this point.
