nook tablet

  • Question:-What exactly are the differences between the nook color and the nook tablet?
I looked at their web pages and they look almost exactly the same in appearence and specs. What exactly the difference between them? Also, I have to say they really worked hard to find a name for that nook tablet. I mean it's so creative. (there's sarcasm there if you didn't catch that)
I wasn't really asking about the kindle fire but ok. I'm still gonna get the fire though.

  • Question:-How does the nook color rate overall as a tablet?
With the new ipad coming out I was wondering how the nook color rated as an overall tablet. Obviously the nook color is an e-reader but it's cheaper. I was thinking about purchasing one but if you could give me your thoughts that'd be great. I'm a junior in hs and I imagine college textbooks will be in e-book form soon.

Answer:-The Nook Color is by far the best choice for a tablet, especially in terms of cost. Once you root the Nook you can do everything you'd want on it, like Pinch to Zoom, watch Youtube videos, use Facebook, check your Email, even play Angry Birds. You can unlock the Android Market to download whatever app you want. Best of all, you can get an SD card that does this all for you check it out here at: http:\\www.unlockedereaders.com/info
  • Question:-How do you turn a android tablet back into a Nook?
My parents bought me a Nook for my birthday pre- owed but the past owner changed it into an android tablet. I want to have a Nook. How do you change it back? I've removed the memory card but that still hasn't helped me. I've tried the hard reset too!!! Please help me!!!

Answer:-Hi, Lindsey, the best is to call Barnes & Noble support at 800-THE-BOOK or stop by at any B&N store.
  • Question:-Can the Nook Color be used as a tablet for artwork?
I'm interested in getting either an iPad or a Nook Color this Christmas. I'm also interested in a drawing tablet. I know there are ways to use the iPad as a drawing tablet, but haven't found anything on the Nook Color. Would anyone happen to know if the Nook Color can be used for artwork either with a computer or without?

Answer:-Hey, Tyler G, you should understand the limitations of iPad as it doesn't have USB port and it's screen is highly reflective and is very bad for reading/viewing during many light conditions (can't draw outside, won't see anything.) Nook Color is a hybrid Android eReader/tablet device, something between Kindle and iPad. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and produces less glare all of which are dooming reading on iPad. Also, the screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles.
Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) Also, Barnes & Noble recently released Nook SDK and Nook Developer platform that will allow most of the existing 100,000 Android apps be ported to it thus if there's an Android app for drawing, it can be used on Nook Color.
  • Question:-Can a tablet run kindle books and nook books?
My wife and I are both going to school and some of our textbooks are available through borders and through Amazon but neither of them has all the books we need, rather each company has some of them. My question is will an android tablet read kindle books and nook books? Does the android market have apps for both of them? What about the Ipad? Does it have apps to read both of them?

Answer:-Yes most tablets have apps for that. I am waiting on the amazon tablet to come out in november because they have the largest selection of ebooks and its going to have a kindle app so it will be like a kindle on your tablet.
  • Question:-Nook Tablet youtube streaming?
I heard that the Nook Color had problems with streaming youtube. Will the new Nook Tablet be able to stream YouTube?

  • Question:-Converting Nook Color into an Android tablet?
I was just wondering if you did this, would it still have the original Nook apps (reader, library, bookstore, in-store auto wi-fi, etc)? I still want it to function as a reader, but it would be nice to have access to more apps and the other benefits of android tablets.

Answer:-There are different ways to root your nook color. I have seen one where you install all the information you need on an sd card and when you boot it up you can choose which version to use, the original or the rooted version. I think that method can keep the original nook OS ready if you want to switch back to it later.

If you root the entire OS of the nook color though you will loose some abilities it currently has and will have to use the root OS from then on. Look it up on youtube, there's tons of info on how to do it and video of people that have done it.
  • Question:-Should I get the Nook Color or HP Tablet?
Which do you think is better? Nook Color or HP tablet, I want it for e-reading and internet surfing, and i guess taking pictures and music? Does the HP tablet have the nook app? and can you tell me the pros and cons? please and thank you

Answer:-Hey, I'd recommend something for half the price of TouchPad but that'll give you all that you need from a tablet - portability, apps, music, video, and a great screen. It's Nook Color from Barnes & Noble that is the best value of the current tablet market at $250. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and produces less glare all of which are dooming reading on iPad. The screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles. Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It's a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn't have a camera. Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) and hundreds of other apps are available for download. Also, you can use the Social Settings screen to link your NOOK Color to your Facebook account and your Twitter account. You can also import all your contacts from your Google Gmail account. Once you have linked to Facebook and Twitter and set up email contacts, you can lend and borrow books, recommend books, and share favorite quotes with your friends. When you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you’re allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. Nooks have USB port and microSD card slot. You can buy Nook’s at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, etc. stores and web sites.
