cranberry sauce recipe

  • Question:-Do you know a great cranberry sauce recipe?
I'm looking to spice up my Thanksgiving dinner with a homemade cranberry sauce, but I haven't a recipe to look to! Does your family have a great recipe?

Answer:-1 bag (1 pound) fresh cranberries ,rinsed and checked for bad berries
    One cup water
1 cup granulated sugar ( for a sweeter sauce add 1 1/2 cups sugar)

    Directions
In a large saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and cook about 5 minutes. Add cranberries to the boiling syrup and cook until all the berries have popped, about 8-10 minutes. The sauce may appear thin but will thicken as it cools.

For Jellied Cranberry sauce: Pour mixture into a cheese cloth lined metal sieve. With the back of a spoon press the mixture to extract as much juice as possible.
Return the juice to a clean sauce pan and bring to a boil.Boil 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened. Pour into a pretty serving bowl and chill until set.

    Variations:
Add a cinnamon stick to the berries as they cook.
Add orange zest or chopped orange or both to the berries as they cook.

  • Question:-I just hit level 3!!! Anyways, does anyone have a good cranberry sauce recipe?
I would prefer one without a bunch of add ins. I tried food network and didn't like what I saw. Aloha :)

Answer:-One I like and my family as well, is a raw cranberry sauce.
Now I do this without measuring, so I will try to give you the idea and you can try it... Make a smaller batch to see if you will like it.
    In my blender,
    I add about 2 cups Fresh/frozen (thawed)cranberies
1 entire cut up orange Navel or Valencia (peel, pith, seeds, all of it.)
Blend this well so no big chunks.
Add 1 cup sugar, to the blender mix well, and taste for sweetness, add more a little at a time
    1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
again I taste it...to see if it is enough.
This keeps for weeks in the fridge in a jar with a tight fitting lid.
  • Question:-Do you have a delicious cranberry sauce recipe you can share with me?

    Answer:-Cranberry Sauce

2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries
    1 orange, zested
    3 cinnamon sticks
    2 cups orange juice
    2 cups packed brown sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon, orange juice, and brown sugar. Add enough water to cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Immediately reduce heat, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the sauce has thickened. Taste for sweetness, and adjust with additional sugar if necessary. You can not overcook, so continue cooking until you have a good thick consistency. Let mixture cool, then refrigerate in a covered container.
