pay it forward

  • Question:-Paying it forward means that you "pay" or that you have found another way to contribute?
    Holding a door open ?
    A smile?
What is it that makes a better person pay forward?

Answer:-Giving a smile and a friendly hello doesn't cost anything. It makes you feel better along with the person you gave it to.
  • Question:-What are some creative ways to "pay it forward"?
I just saw a story on Yahoo about a two hour stretch at a Starbucks during which everyone was paying the check for the car behind them. What are some other ways to pay it forward?

Answer:-Every year I pick some one special at the bank, post office, or grocery store to surprise with a christmas gift. These are the people that often get forgotten around the holidays and its a wonderful surprise.
  • Question:-What do you think the best way is to "PAY IT FORWARD"?
Please no silly cracks. I am really interested in your thoughts.

If you could do anything (money is no object) what would you do to help others and pay it forward?

What tugs at your heart strings?

Answer:-I would buy a van to take the homebound shoping. Where I live we do not have a bus system or taxies. The homebound that do not have helpful children or their kids do not live close by have nothing except what meals on wheels brings to eat, which is only 5 meals a week. They need microwaveable meals, snacks, drinks, etc. in their frig. Most have just water. And think about tolit paper etc. Those that are unable to ride in the van and do thier own shopping could have a list ready for the driver to pick up.
  • Question:-How important do you think it is to Pay It Forward?
Random acts of kindness towards others for which you expect nor want nothing in return. How important is it to you to do this acts and if they are done to you to pay them forward???

Answer:-It is very important. It's a concept that I really believe in. Did it before it was popular. Makes me feel good. I wish more people performed random kinds of kindness. This world would be a better place.
  • Question:-How do you "Pay It Forward" after someone helps you with something you needed and could not do yourself?
In the movie Pay It Forward there was a teacher that told his class about doing things for others because it is the right thing to do.
Helping those who cannot help themselves. And they in turn do something to help others.

Answer:-Well, if someone helps you with something, then you can "pay it forward" by helping someone else with something. Then, they can help someone else with something, and so on.
  • Question:-Organizing a pay it forward this weekend, does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm just looking for some suggestions as to what i can do to make the pay it forward survive. Like maybe hand the person i help out a laminated piece of paper with the very basic rules of paying it forward on it and ask them to do the same when they do? Maybe some other things or even ideas about how i can help someone and how much money to spend, or what type of person to target to help. Personally i'm thinking of helping a single parent

Answer:-When we do ours locally, we just ask for the person we did the good deed for to pay it forward. Usually word of mouth gets around. IT doesn't hurt to give them a flyer with something positive on it to help remind them of it.

The weird thing is, just little kind things can accumulate into large change. A very real change to attitudes, and to overall character. Just holding a door open and smiling at the person you held it for can usually make a change in that person, however small, and it may only be short lived. But more often than not it is enough to make a fundamental change on the quantum level. And there is the magic in kindness. It is infectious, and you feel better after doing it.

Children are especially interested in paying it forward. The elderly always like to pitch in. Its the folks in between that very often are not so easy to convince. If everyone took a conscious effort into paying things forward we coluld make such change in our world it would be frightening. IT should be second nature to help each other. We are children of God. We should love each other and do things with out some devious end game.

Years ago, I was a struggling single father. I had little spare money. But I was buying some groceries. BAsic, cheap simple stuff for me and my kids. Its what i could afford, as nutricious as i was able to cram into the meager supplies that they were. In front of me was a young couple. With a small child and one on the way. Clearly they were in some form of stress as they were agitated and the girl was crying. Apparently they were in the working poor group, make too much for help, but not enough to really get it together. They had basically what I had, plus baby formula. The girl was crying because she knew that they were going to be short. Even after all the coupons she cut, they ended up being 5 dollars short. I thought, I'll just throw in the 5 bucks. But then I felt something over whelm me. I had the money to pay for all their groceries, and mine. So I just had the cashier add my groceries to theres. I paid for it all. By doing this, I was able to put them over the hump. They then had the money for emergencies over the next month.

I am no saint, and I am so flawed its scary. But sometimes, we all need to step up. Without the need for thanks, without the need for adoration. OUr world is a small one now. We have no where else to go. So we must get along. Wars will only destroy what little land we have. Killing each other chips away at our souls.

So, just remind folks to pay it forward.
  • Question:-What are three reasons why Pay it Forward is such a fantastic movie?
What are three reasons why Pay it Forward is such a great movie? (Ex; realism, humor, action, movie, plot twists, special effects, etc.) I have two reasons so far: Realism, a good message, and I can't think of a next one. Please help?
    Thanks <3

Answer:-realism - I'd say partially. This movie is about people's lives, but I don't think that such kind of situation is possible in today's world.
I think that the idea itself is very good and nice. This movie is about a dream, that people should think about each others and they should really treat others the way they want to be treated.
Unfortunately It's only a fairy tale today.
  • Question:-Are there any other plan to change the world like the movie Pay It Forward?
I have an assignment to do in one of my classes, which is designing a plan to change the world like the character Trever did in Pay It Forward.
    Any help?

Answer:-i do it a few times a week, when i stop to change a stranger's tire on the side of the road, they offer money and i'll tell em no, just help the next person (pay it forward), if i help someone for no reason and they offer money, i tell them to just help the next person. i have gotten good responses from the people, but have no idea if they continued the trend....
